As long as power progression dosnt force people into FoH, or quests lines or other stuff strictly pve, as im sure there will be pvp quests and such in the zone. And FoH is cosmetics, and or pvp centric gear, then really whats the issue other then people being completionists and not wanting to touch it.
If they try and force engagement from the pve base with it, that wont work, but im not under the impression thats thier plan anyways, unless you want to try and count cosmetics and such only obtainable through pvp, which i dont. personally.
The fear is, and its not unfounded, that they will try and force pvp engagement from the non pvp crowd, so there is a natural push back. And its not like Blizzard hasnt made this folly before, they did it with one of the wow legendary quest lines for the cloak in MoP, and i refused to touch it because of that. Mainly becuase id played a open pvp server for a year and quit after getting camped back to a life stone and sat on for hours.
I dont think most people that want pvp are toxic, and there are toxic parts of every community, pve included, just look what achivements, IL, you tube, twitch, and such have done to what people ask or to run things over in wow. You have to realize those elements are there though, and they will engage in things like killing someone back to a life stone and camping there for hours to keep killing them, even if they log out for a few and come back, some people are just like that, and it only takes one super toxic experiences to put someone off for good, we remember the bad far more then we do the good.
Sure, if there is only PvP in there, it is all fine. Someone in the thread mentioned Lilith statues being in there though. That would be PvE progression.
Dont know if it is the case though.
I think if we are having PvP we should get a tea bag emote so we can can rub it in the carebears faces that they just got stomped on trying to get their silly unicorn cosmetic. This would make everyone happy in the end
I am al in for a PvP server for those who like it, but knowing the lack of PvP community in Diablo games i have a feeling it might not have too much population. And PvP in general in Diablo games is really unbalanced.
Anyway if people don’t like there is an opt-in for PvP option that just means you basically know that barely anyone mainly plays PvP else it would not worry you. If you think the PvP community is allready big enough then this should really not be an issue. But the fact is the PvP community is a minority and i don’t see that changing soon.
I just think that Diablo isn’t really geared towards PvP and PvE hybrid. PVP typically requires gearing a certain way and that’s really not condusive to open world exploration. Having to switch your build and playstyle upon entering a certain zone is just as annoying as it is frustrating.
From my perspective, most people don’t care about, or don’t want PVP.
I see people that enjoy PVP as those want to be sanctioned internet bullies to bolster their fragile egos and flex their e-peen by killing people who don’t care about PVP, or focus on PVP, or are just new to the game.
I have played all the Diablo games (except Immortal, that’s not a game) and I have never enjoyed the PVP aspect. I find it unnatural and unfun.
Not a fan of PvP, but as long as you don’t have to cross the Fields for any PvE content and they hive you warning you’re entering it, then I don’t see an issue. Entering the Fields could be considered “opting in.”
I totally trust blizz to make a viable pvp system, just look at diablo 3…i mean just look at world of war… nvm
also im sure scaling will make this pure grief anyways and not likely to be enjoyable.
call me pessimistic but its just not looking favorable as a whole thus far.
I used to support this but now I see how much of an advantage ultra-wide 3:1 players have, and the game shouldn’t even have PVP until that’s fixed. Until we all have a zoom out feature for everyone.
Bear my words: PVP in D4 won’t be viable. This game can be summed in: shallow skill trees combined with game-breaking legendaries that will lead to Unbalanced Combat mechanics in every aspect.
Just search vids on yt, there are many Op builds where ppl 1 shot entire screen easily, look necro with immunity+corpse explosion mechanics for example, and don’t expect this things to change, i think it’ll be even worse at end-game.
I BET PvP will not be available at release ( cuz it’s obviously not viable in any way ) and will be perpetually delayed, or they put it opt no sense but all flaws will be visible at that point . Pvp will be an announced failure again, same as for D3, you can see it already as the game is designed that is not a viable feature. That’s it and that’s why i’ll skip this game, and this company, enough is enough.
I think what I love about this post is that D1 and D2 had an amazing PVP (Numerous games at all hours of the night) atmosphere, but people in D2R refuse to do it. Kind of funny the hate comments on wanting to keep it in. Even more comical are the ones that are personal attacks because they don’t want it in.
Haters: Go back to D2… You guys have your safe space for strict PvE! Maybe try D3 if you want absolutely no possibility of PvP
