June 21st Campfire Chat Q&A

Rapid Fire Problem: It took two patches and a hotfix and still doesn’t work as well as the first version: will it finally be fixed in season 5?

Question: Will the PTR have patches to fix things while it’s active, or will all changes be made at Season 5 release like Season 4?

  • I feel that a faster turnaround for patches during the PTR would have benefit in 2 ways. It give the chance to find any bugs in the fixes, and it shows the community you are working on issues and actively listening.

I’m enjoying a take on bash Barb but I need to track my enraged berserking buff from the unique helm (Tuskhelm of Joritz the Mighty), which I sometimes can’t do since it’s pushed off the UI from other statuses.

Can we have a better way to track specific statuses, so the combat experience feels better? A track-able buff, part of the hud, or something. Rogues have a combo point tracker which is great, I couldn’t imagine playing that otherwise - it feels like that on Barb with this helm, not being able to see the buff

Question: Almost all aspects of the game were wonderfully developed and orchestrated to encourage community group play. What was the reason for the Pit not being a “group thing”?

Question: Was holy bolts added to the game to mask differences in class balances?

—added feedback—

Issue: Pit group play feels punishing due to lack of rewards for second party member.
Solution: Allow party members to contribute equal share of runeshards to receive equal value rewards. Achieve this by adding text to the queue prompt which notifies party members that their rune shards will be spent upon entering.

any news will be provided about next “shifted meta”?
I understood in this game players shall play what devs want as shifted meta, no “play your way” available here, so I must stay tunned for “meta shift” announcements

  1. Armory slots (most of the player base has been begging for this since launch)

  2. Fix tempering issue (add way to reset/increase tempers per grater affix etc) it’s been a MAJOR frustration for the player base. We farm and collect rare/powerful gear and it’s rendered useless. Some of us do not have billions of gold- do not like to use third party trading sites as D4 doesn’t have a market, and cannot farm 12 hours a day, so when we find a really neat item and its tempers fail, it’s effectively useless and frustrating . This deters from build diversity greatly.

  3. Better QA/QC or deployment effectiveness of patches as to not cause ridiculous bugs and render many customers play styles severely underwhelming or unplayable for days/weeks.

  4. Better class balancing - the current state of the game is barbarians > everything else… for several seasons. Perhaps bring up the power of other classes to rival barbarian.

These 4 points listed above will tremendously improve the quality of your game moving forward.

First of all, just wanted to say I loved the most recent updates that were made in the patch.
The pit is a lot more enjoyable now.

  1. Are there plans to increase Sorc’s damage output?

  2. Are there plans to decrease the damage of spider’s web attacks and spider host’s explosions once they die? I’m referring mainly to the black version of the spiders as they feel extremely overtuned, especially with how many spider webs each spider shoots at the players and on top of that they can shoot their webs off our screen so that we cannot see them.

  3. Can we reduce the gold costs for resetting a masterworked item? Resetting a level 4, 8, and 12 item all costs 5 million each. Can we make it that resetting a level 4 item costs 1 million, a level 8 costs 2.5 million, and a level 12 costs 5 million?

  4. Can we make vendor items relevant again? Other than when someone starts a brand new character, I highly doubt anyone looks at those items anymore considering they are all rare items and no one uses rare items after their first legendary drops. Vendors used to be amazing before tempering and masterworking were added.

  5. Considering uber uniques were always intended to be the most sought out items and rarest items to obtain, are there plans to allow players to temper them? Not every uniques stats and/or power is better than a tempered legendary item.

  6. Are there plans to increase the stygian stone drop rate? It is still too difficult to get them to drop at tier 100. Tier 200 should be 100% chance, tier 150 should be a 75% chance, tier 100 should be a 50% chance and everything below that should be a 25% chance. We are obtaining too much summoning material, which is not a bad thing in itself, but we cannot really use it if we don’t get the stones. Therefore, although you fixed the aspects laying in our stash issue, we are now running into that same issue with the summoning materials that we cannot use.

Not so much a question but a suggestion. Amulets have the opportunity to have + to passive nodes on the skill tree. It would be a huge quality of life improvement that if an amulet has a passive node on it, could we get a smaller window next to it showing what those passive abilities do. Currently the options are: 1. Open the passive skill tree and search for said node. 2. Open an external resource outside of the game. 3. Memorize all the nodes.

Any specific plans to improve clan features? And social features in general?

My question is a small one, with The Pit I find it hard to see how fast I’ve finished the pit, can we get a splash screen or chat text line with the time taken to complete the level.
Thanks

Battle Trance amulet

Will the Battle Trance amulet have a better unique affix?

If I’m using this amulet, I want more power for Freeze and not for another skill.

Rogue and Sorc recover resource naturally over time - why not druids? Wouldn’t it make sense for spirit to be recovered naturally? This would make early druid a lot smoother in my opinion.

Also - where summon grizzly?!

I would like to propose that the drop rate of items with higher affixes be increased. This change will make it easier for casual players to build their desired gear and will also help in reducing the market prices of these items, making them more accessible to everyone. Could you consider increasing the drop rate of these items?

Now that the game got a good rework to some systems, can we expect the same to happen to the battle pass and monetization? Things on the shop are too expensive and the pass doesn’t feel rewarding.

Every class should have a differente looking armor and instead of having just a recolor of the first set on the end, add a completely different one, like one of those ‘prestiges’ on the shop. Also at least give the minimum amount of platinum to purchase another pass, that’s the bare minimum. Allow us to earn shop currency while playing or give is some cosmetic armors rewards for something, please…

  1. With the increased leveling speed & player power since patch 1.4, it feels like WT1 and WT3 are a little redundant as well as WT4 feeling very unthreatening very quickly. Are there any plans to re-evaluate world tiers? Perhaps having something like 3 world tiers, WT1 for level 1-50, WT2 for levels 51-100, and a WT3 for well geared level 100 players, with enemy levels around 154 or higher (T100 nightmare dungeon equivalent). Obviously no new item power tiers or other increases in player power but maybe a slightly higher chance at existing items, such as items with greater affixes and some cool new cosmetics to chase?

  2. Are there any plans for new character customization options, such as new faces, hairstyles, beards?

  3. Can we get the ability to pick our loading screen poses, and maybe occasionally add new ones in the free track of the battlepass?

  4. Can we expand the buff bar to both have more slots and allow us to have an “edit” mode, similar to the skills popup menu, where we can choose which buffs go in which location in the row, so we could fine-tune exactly how we want the buff bar to look and which buffs go where. For example, have 2 rows of 10 buff icon locations and let us drag the available buff icons from a list into whichever one of those 20 “slots” we desire, so that chosen buffs always pop up in the same location, on the buff bar.

  5. Can world events such as legions and world bosses be part of the journal, so we can select them in the journal, much like side quests, so they will show up on the side of our screen, with a timer, name, and location?

  6. I don’t want to reset tempered items and hope that never gets added, but is it possible to give us options to a) keep an existing temper roll, just like we can for enchanting, and b) not allow the same temper stat to be rolled twice in a row?

  7. Will we ever see more Butcher-type special enemies?

  8. Any increases in stash space planned?

  9. As always, any plans for armoury/loadouts?

  10. Can Andariel’s Visage get a unique transmog appearance, seeing as it’s an uber unique?

  11. Any chance we can get the option for tormented versions of world bosses, with the same debuff stacks idea as the current tormented bosses?

Any plans to scale back the pace of combat? I remember when I first got the game, I enjoyed figuring out monster mechanics and building combat tactics. But now, everything dies so fast, it doesn’t matter.

Respectfully, tempering is kind of like primals in d3 except you already know you have a rare and powerful item. Instead of seeing the primal beam and knowing it’s most likely trash (don’t get excited!), we get to see ** or *** and ruin it at the blacksmith. It’s not a fun experience imo. Thank you for making video games!

Q2: I don’t find the pit very fun. Any improvements coming?

Tempering tweaking is needed. As it sits now its a very cool system but has a high chance to brick very high end items.

This has cost almost my whole discord community to quit. I played way too much this season compared to my normal gaming habits “300ish hours on main character” and still found no where close to bis gear because tempering bricks every possible upgrade I get. Its not a fun feeling when 2x and x3 GA items are so rare.

There is rng which is fun but then there is layers of stacked bad weighted rng that is a BIG L

This in turn has made me take a break from the game as well.

When will you guys learn that feels bad rng mechanics are bad?

Can we expect that future seasons will remove affix weighting, and better distribute temper and masterwork rolls for less bricks?

Will things ever be balanced in a way that Unga Bunga gamers (barbs) are not completely spoiled compared to every other class?
