Huh, really? I never used it so that is new to me. There is a press and hold skill function in the game though that can be toggled on and off in the Accessibility options. It does not apply to all skills, but does apply to some.
The Plaintiff Greenbaum sued his workplace (N.Y.C. Transit Authority - Defendant) over work accommodations for his tendonitis wrist issues. The reference says that the first court issued a summary judgement for the Defendant. On appeal the second court vacated that ruling which allows the case to go forward so the Plaintiff can try again.
That applies to a workplace and a work related injury. It does not apply to video games. ADA does not apply to anything other than video game communications currently. It may in the future, but not yet.
Here are a couple summaries of the current Video game applications of ADA (or not applied really).
They are both very pro accessibility, and lament the lack of ADA application to video gaming, but point out that the laws do now apply to communications within them.
Something else of interest that might come up when these sorts of cases come up in courts. This is from the first article. Consider that automation of skill rotations is considered an advantage (cheating).
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act (CVAA), and similar laws are not entitlements. Their purpose is not to confer a benefit to people with disabilities, but to ensure equal access and opportunity.
Personally I am legally disabled. I care a lot about accessibility and accommodations. I also get frustrated when people seem to think that it can be used as an exception from rules - which is not true. I might be disabled, but I donât need to have the rules changed, I just need the right tools in place to help me succeed within the rules. (Blizzard please let us ZOOM OUT, ty).
rofl cheaters will be cheaters and try to say i got a medical issue like the sky is not blue this post is 100% a waste of time i just wasted time on the long winded post really show how out of touch kids are these days
If you are fully disabled and tryin to do macro, ur banned, thatâs reality, same like every irl jobs too, welcome to hell world, You all must obey Lilith
Imho my diablo nerd rage issues aside (love hate like mephisto ), it would just help a ton to link up 1-3 basic attacks or 1-2 basic/other buttons and assign it âofficiallyâ in game such as a small combo system
âLeft , right, doubleâ
Or even just left then right
Currently you can hold one button like basic 1, then alternate skills 2 and 3 with left/right triggers fairly well , i need to check sensitivity of triggers if possible to reduce the button mashing, but gentle taping is helping
It is difficult to use Y or RB for me but perfect for slow cooldown skills like ultimates . It would be nice to be able to rotate 2 key skills on a simple rhythm of âevery other attackâ then be able to interrupt with core attack (you can currently do this) on one of the two triggers
Firstly, please learn the difference between âphysically unfitâ and âdisabledâ and the way those terms are used colloquially. Theyâre not interchangeable.
Physically unfit is someone who, through their own choice, hasnât exercised and has eaten a little too much. Disabled is someone who has a medical condition they cannot control. The key difference is choice.
And then you go on to talk about them having an unfair advantage which is incredibly ignorant. I notice you donât even consider the unfair advantage you have over an amputee or someone with motor neurone disease. I can guarantee you wouldnât want to swap.
Astonishing is your view actually. Making a fuss about semantics.
Equality of chance is not equality of outcome. I canât go willy nilly running around as an almost blind guy and ask if its okay to use an aimbot in counterstrike. Thatâs not how it works. Has nothing to do with sensitivity.
The equality of outcome argument has nothing to do with disabilities. Youâre parroting a line youâve heard on the internet which you clearly donât understand. And since you then go on to apply it to a ridiculous extreme Iâm not going to debate further.
Did it ever? Blizzard has been exploiting employees and customers for decades, and the end result was that all of that money went straight to Mike Morhaimeâs bank account. Sinful.
How So?
A person asking for input to overcome a limitation so they can enjoy the game like the rest of us?
How cold can you be to respond with your lil one liner?
It was a legit question and I commend the OP for asking about it and even laying out their real life issue. This takes a lot of inner strength to put yourself out there to the trolls to have a feast which with this post of yours you proved a point about trolls.
Maybe you should learn to read or more so understand someone besides yourself.
Not everyone has the liberties most of us take for granted. If I misread your comment i apologize but it is how what you said comes off.
Besides, Rust is a totally different beast.
There is enough Toxicity out there in the world it does not need to be every corner you turn and it does not to be spread everywhere.
Show some compassion to those less fortunate.
This also is directed to the people who make the choice to ban someone for trying to come up with a solution to their challenges IRL.
To the OP I wish you the best and I would try to open a discussion with the development team and also the Systems Management team.
Maybe they can provide a solution or maybe provide suggestions and yes this would also fall under the ADA.
They did add a limited strobe / Flash for those with seizure disorders and this would also be to Blizzard / Activision / Microsoftâs advantage to address your situation if nothing more it would paint better optics for the company and honestly I would jump on the opportunity to get that kind of PR with the stuff that has been flying around said companies
The original Blizzard Entertainment Did care about their community up to WoW/TBC.
Sadly the community started its path to where it is now by that time.
It can be very desensitizing when no matter when you go to the forums there is constant negativity about what your company has changed not only that I mean realistically you can not please everyone but, The feedback got brutal. not just a âum what gives? this is breaking this class or that class can we look into it and maybe some feedback on how to fixâ Those days pretty got far and few after TBC.
Slowly the Diablo forums followed suit.
This would make most developers and community leads go numb.
Think about this, When was the last time you heard someone say hey Blizzard Great Job?
I get it, The quality is not what we are accustom to from blizzard but remember this,
Most of their releases are a work in progress and they are trying to provide us with content so there is no content drought.
Also there usually is weekly hotfixes and even emergency hotfixes.
So yes they do care. They just do not care to be trolled or hit with constant negativity.
Before I get hit with being a Blizz fan boy.
In some respects yes I am I am always hoping for their success as I grew up with their products. I remember playing their games on an ibm 8086 back in the day so yes I hope they continue to be a main staple of the gaming community, Now that being said Micro transactioning the heck out of all the games in your lineup is not only shady but really shows greed when your new release is $90+ usd.
I get Diablo Immortal as it is a free to play but D4 or even WoW with a monthly cost that is showing pure greed, and disregard to your community.
I get you have overhead costs with servers but todayâs age offers cloud on demand which drastically cuts your overhead cost down and also provides a better anti-ddos protection. Oh that node is being hit? shut it down bring up node so and so or even if a whole cluster goes down⌠Fall over server. These are the things you lack to do to show the community that you care. and If you can not do these things Blizzard atleast compensate the community for your outages or inability to play the game they paid so much for.
All and All A lot of us in a way are all to blame as we complain, Nothing wrong with that mind you. But it is how a majority go at it. Aggressively. This is the quickest way to shut down all communications before it even starts.
Blizzard I know you are reworking your secret sauce and it takes time but honestly you really need to boost up your Quality Assurance department and load down servers even harder before a launch. There are programs that allow you to do this in house might want to look into them.
Also Blizzard you should take care of those who take care of you, Like you used to during wrath of the lich king and before.
Go back to your roots when moving forward and this will be your success.
I am not trying to slam you guys but I think they either never told you their original driving force or you have forgotten it.
The community!
Bring the community back together in a positive way instead of uniting the community to point out your faults.
Oh yeah and take the leashes off the game masters we miss running with them and occasional game master events.
Please take this as a positive critique as that is the spirit of this post.
In no way is this post meant to shame you guys it is just a post to say hey come back to the old Blizzard most of us old timers miss you guys.
Iâve always known Blizzard, starting in recent years, is simply virtue-signalling for business profiteering and has no real care nor concern regarding real accessibility and usability for disabled gamers.
The OPâs post is one such example; also, accessibility options for blind gamers are the bare minimum. No combat readouts, transcriptions or directional pinging, all of which are essential in any game catering to such players nowadays.
Itâs obvious that Blizzard just wanted to attract disabled gamers for profit, and they did that by hyping up accessibility options during dev vlogs and blogs, but with whatâs available, itâs only showing the most superficial (more like artificial) awareness of the existence of disabled gamers.
I mean, the game allows you to map Scroll wheel up/down and if you just let it fly it triggers like 30 inputs in a fraction of a second. If they were simply going to ban people for excessive input a lot of us would get banned just for using scroll wheel for âForce move.â
All this text only to say that Blizz got their heads up their bums.
And, with all due respect, protecting this dinosaur attitude of theirs just makes you look like a shill, in whose eyes the devs can not possibly do any wrong.
Again, this doesnât help your case. Youâre being personally affected, yet choose to protect the wrongdoers instead?
I do not see it as wrong to set rules and enforce rules. I do not see it as wrong to offer a bunch of accessibility features, controller support, key mapping to other accessibility devices like footpedals, etc. I do not see it as wrong to have a whole team focused on accessibility in their games, or to advertise the features they do have when they roll games out.
So you feel it is wrong to define cheating as automating the game, or portions of the game?
Because that is what this comes down to. People can use whatever adaptive tech they want, but they still canât use it to cheat. Again, it is like speeding. Someone can use all the adaptive hardware to drive with their dexterity/limb issues, but they still canât speed.
If you want Blizzard, or other game companies, to change the rules and allow automation of skill rotations, or complete changes to the game so that skill rotations are not needed, feel free to ask, but I donât think you are going to get far with it.
It sounds like you want one button press gameplay, and I am not sure most game makers are going to agree to that. People complain game are boring as it is and that would make it even more so. It would also make botting/full automation even easier for those scum who make that stuff.
Thereâs just this part of me that canât help but wonder if youâre one of those people that gets butt hurt and complains in General Chat when your character name âIlickiceholesâ gets changed on the roleplay servers on WoW or something.
Not making any accusations, just saying Iâm wondering.
