Hold my Snickers, The Eternal Mythic Problem! šŸ¬

So there are many posts on this. I decided to make one as well with my support for eternal player struggles and why Mythics should never go legacy. So hold my snickers (best candy :candy: ) and here we go!

We all know by now what is happening to mythics to eternal. In case you dont they are going to 540 power. This hurts weapons the most as they will lose DPS but also affects all of them. This makes another round of legacy mythics created. But mythics always have max affixes so this does not make sense to me. Mythical items should just be the correct updated version all the time. No legacy mythic should exist. This is something that really only affects eternal realm. Eternal realm players should not be forced to refarm their great mythical items every time there are changes to mythics. Imagine having a 2 or 3 or 4 GA grandfather and having it rekt because of these changes. Its wrong. Its unnecessary. Its a slap in the face of eternal players time.

I would like to hear the cons to having mythical items not be legacy. IF you get a great mythical item like a 1 to 4 GA one then you should not have to worry about it becoming invalidated as a legacy. Do we really need 5 different version of Melted Heart of Selig??? Who is this helping???

I really want to hear the viewpoints on this. It seems to me the vast majority of eternal players want this addressed in favor of no legacy mythics ever and that is my stance. It makes the most sense and doesnt hurt anyone I can see.

So please give your opinion on this matter.
Do you support mythics going legacy and why?
Do you support mythics never going legacy and why? ā† BEST VERSION
Do you support another different solution and why?

Thanks for your time!

I support Mythics always dropping with 4 GAs so that having one go legacy just means you have to drop or craft a new one which isnt too bad anymore.

Couldnā€™t agree more, if they have the capability to scale items down to 540 they can scale them to 800 instead. This is completely optional on their end. The Mythics are in no way the only problem, the 3-4GA Max Roll Uniques some of us have been farming and collecting and trading and swapping out for different builds are all going to be rendered useless as well. Iā€™m irritated about the Mythics but to be honest Iā€™m ticked off about all of my multi GA Unqiues and Legendary items that were the crux of my accrued wealth in this game, I now have a deadline to sell these items and must spend most of my time playing, selling and peddling these items in exchange for gold and mats for the next couple weeks before they become defunct, because someone made a bad call. Iā€™d like to see them change trajectory on this at the next campfire chat.

I am definitely hoping for this being addressed in the campfire in favor of eternal playerbase.

Oh look, another Urza ā€œmain character syndromeā€ thread, where he even acknowledges the existence of many other threads on the topic in the post, but still feels compelled to make another one becauseā€¦ Ummm.

It doesnā€™t matter what anyoneā€™s opinion on this matter is; there is zero world where mythics donā€™t get squished along with everything else going in to the expac. Itā€™s like having an opinion on gravity.

    • No I do not support any downgrade where the majority of end-users have spent many weeks in some cases, masterworking, acquiring and working hard to get their character to a decent level.
  1. -I support Mythics never going legacy for not only the above reason, but because it completely invalidates everything done. Not only do people have to ramp up another ten Paragon points, all their existing gear is around 300 less, even masterworked, than the levels of Torment. So they are faced with the dilemna of deleting all the hard work they did. If it was a business, the choice to invalidate would be considered a poor and unusable business plan.

  2. -I support a different solution, this one:

  • The existing Mythics need to be set to the same ideology that applies to the current unlevelled paragon structure. That is, the Mythics should have the red circle with a line through it which reads: - ā€œYou do not have enough paragon points to use this itemā€.
  • Then instead of feeling you may as well delete weeks of work for all the good it did, you still have to do the progression to 60 for your Eternals, but you do not lose all the work you did, and can claim them when you reach the level that the game says you can get the max upgrade.

EDIT - And the Mythics do NOT have a degrading of 300. They are maximum value.

The constant forcing of Eternal Players to start over from scratch every season is the reason I quit.

If I wanted to play the Seasonal design I would create a Seasonal Character.

I think Leagacy Mythics should be able to be crafted into a new Mythic 1:1.
That solves all problems. Players still lose a little because they have to deal with the ā€œterrible at his jobā€ blacksmith again for MWing.

a Decent third option.

I suspect there is indeed some technical complication to leaving them unchanged.

That said I think it would be great if they did not reset them, I mean think of it as a loyalty reward - Hey youā€™ve been playing our game for a long time! you get to keep your OP items in Eternal where it has 0 impact of the current season! Many eternal players would likely still want to farm the new items because itā€™s not just up or down stat adjustments but complete changes in what stats are present and aspects. Think of the build variety that would become possible on eternal if there were several varieties of each mythic available at full strength!

I was going to suggest if itā€™s not practical to leave the items as-is then a fair solution for a realm called ā€œETERNALā€ would be to let any Mythic marked Legacy on Eternal Realm salvage for 4 sparks. Basically the same thing as a 1:1 trade. Beyond MW you also have the issue of GA items not being rerolled as GA unless there is a way to salvage them for a special spark when they are GA that somehow guarantees the game # of GA on the new item. Flip side you could potentially salvage a non GA and get a GA

Seasonal only player here. I totally support not ā€œhosingā€ eternal players every time thereā€™s a gear change. It doesnā€™t matter to us as we do everything all over again with the new season. There is a reason why people play eternal mode: They want to keep their progress. Blizzard needs to recognize these folks and treat them accordingly. If they wanted to redo everything they would play seasons like those of us who do

Yeah I figured this, I mean more like trade the legacy one in for a new one with relatively same stats at the new item max if the legacy one is maxxed.

Iā€™ve spent a ton of money on this game , havenā€™t played since campfire - will be leaving for good if they canā€™t figure out a better solution .

100%.
I absolutely cannot believe they are downgrading this at all. As you said, mythics are always max value, they are either pseudo-rare, or you put a lot of work into getting them.

This can be argued with other perfect gear with greater affixes as well. I canā€™t believe they are downgrading that. Someone suggested in this thread that we should keep the gear max level if it is a mythic (and I think so with a GA), and just not allow us to use it until level 60. No problem at all and we still complete all the required content without sufferingā€¦

Its just so horrible.

I support leaving Eternal Mythics eternal, but I get that there must be some technical reason why they canā€™t leave them alone.

1:1 trade instead I also support hehe.

I have to agree, That downgrading Mythics is not going to win over players. Downgrading to ilvl 540 also means all the master-working will be lost as well. They could just let us salvage them for 4 sparks each and craft new ones. Or as mentioned above let us trade them in. But because of the stat changes i donā€™t think they will let them stay as they are.

IMO, allow Eternal players to swap their Legacy items at a 1:1 ratio at any vendor within 1 week after the new season launches.

Because they are players who do not like the process of leveling up from scratch, they do not find this phase fun and engaging. Fair item swap will help them not lose effort, time and interrupt their character building progress.

Furthermore, either the game removes Eternal Realm or the game should be responsible for Eternal players who already paid.
