Got the same problem.
Game freezes in random situations.
Didnt have any problems in s1
Disablin cross-play fixed an issue for a time, then all started again.
Probably won’t play until blizz release a fix for it.
Same here, it’s unplayable at the moment. Gonna pass for now
My d4 just crashed twice in a row when i pressed the spacebar to unfavorite an item in inventory. Both times, my game crashed, my pc Minitor went dark, but the pc was still running with loud fan noise. I had to hard restart the pc for the game to work again. On the second crash, it showed all my blizzard game uninstalled. Had to reinstall d2,3, and 4 again. I had this problem 3 months before, but it didn’t happen again until today.
P:S i updated my nvidia experience yesterday. Perhaps I should roll back?
Have the same bloody issue…
I experience the same issues and what kinda worked for me was putting dllss on default with 100% scaling and not tabbing or having anything on my second monitor. My PC is not the greatest but ever since this patch it went to the toilet.
I don’t know how Blizzard managed to screw up a game released 4 months ago for season 2 so that the game is in a worse condition than in season 1.
Usually, during this time, the developers are much more likely to find out the mistakes of the game and fix them, and it’s not that they do much more as time goes on.
Anyway, the game didn’t turn out well, and this is also indicated by the discount after 3 months, but the fact that a functionally completely incompetent team is trying to operate this game is something amazing.
I had the same kind of issues months ago on POE when I switched from D3D11 to vulkan renderer. After searching about it on internet, it was likely driver/firmware related.
While it appear to not be directly related to D4 on its own to me, there was a new thing with S2 which rely heavily on graphical cards/drivers: DLSS.
I don’t know if it’s possible to turn it off, but I suggest you to do so if you manage to find how to do it.
Same problem here, when I open a menu or equip something. Somewtimes it unlocks after 10-20s but sometimes I have to restart
It also seems that the UI is responding (if I press escape I hear the open menu sound and the same if I reandomly click)
Strange thing is that when I open task manager and look at system resources everything seems fine. There are no peaks or unusual network activity
Any official update here? Are bliz looking at this at least?
Same issue here. Disabling cross platform stuff has helped a bit maybe, but still getting stuttering and freezing. I didn’t notice this last season.
Opening menus, especially the season menu, can trigger it.
Edit: After dying 3-4x because of this so far, I’m going to wait to play the season until it’s fixed. It’s so aggravating.
Regarding this kind of issue, you will have a much more clear vision of the issue if you open a wireshark (packet sniffer). You’ll probably notice alot of packed duplication and retransmission when you freeze.
The game retrieve a lot of things “on demand”, issuing http requests to blizzard CDN when needed, to update game datafile. That process may sound weird, but that’s also what allow us to play the game without it being fully downloaded.
The freeze seem to occur while the game haven’t received yet its data. The problem happen more often during main player affluence because their CDN handle more request per seconds and sometime get overloaded (especially at patch release).
These are my finding based on comparison with such events and some tcpdump, plus my own experience as someone that have to explain more often than I want to my customers why their website is slow or unresponsive
At this point there not many factors to why it’s slow of even didn’t respond, bad code or infrastructure overload (computing power or network bandwidth/congestion). Considering that it’s only static file delivery, there is nearly no code (unless they run their own custom webservers/cache), so to me, what’s left is some infrastructure overload somewhere.
thats what I said already. first thing is the game is crappy coded and not proper coded that the gui / draw render loop runs on a different core than the connection loop. that causes a simple freeze of the game if it doesnt get an answer in time from the servers. because the game asks the server for everything what happens in your client to prevent duping, it asks the server always if you click a time, port, open npc, open iventory and so on. coming to the main root of this = crap servers because Blizzard dramatically reduced server size after S1 because too many people left. blizzards solution to this = just let the stupid players wait 2 weeks until enough quit again. problem solved. then it happens again with first week of s3 and so on.
Freezed eary in the morning in open world without any other people nearby. Killed the process.
YES, freezes and lockups are server’s issue. My friends on other severs does not have any problems with gameplay
Try this fix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qzM__kVLB0&t=1s (video guide) or Reddit - Dive into anything (written guide) It worked for me in Division and it worked for me since the recent updates on D4.
I just tried this and it didnt do anything for me. No improvements
Not just you. I have a $7,000 machine. Never once locked up. After season update, it locks up all the time. It’s a coding issue somewhere.
Same problem here since season 2. Ryzen 5 5600X - RTX 3080
Same here, everytime while im teleporting if i open the menu it freezes, during the loadings too
My friends and myself also all have this issue. They will try to play it off like it’s everyone’s computer that is the reason, but it’s not. The freezing happens constantly in open world (i.e. in town when accessing merchants, opening skills/stash/inventory, or out in the world farming). The only reliable place it doesn’t seem to happen constantly is in dungeons. Anywhere in open world (which is where you need to be to farm season content) it constantly freezes for me. Anytime the vampires spawn on me, or basically any action that happens in the game can cause it in the open world.
I find it hard to believe that all of a sudden so many people are having the exact same issue, and they’re going to use the standard reply of: “check all your stuff, it’s gotta be on your end.” Every other game I play does not have this issue, and the locking up only happens within the game, not anywhere else on my machine.
I’ve changed settings for the crossplay, and that seems to slightly help, but not resolve the issue. Same with lowering graphic settings. Nothing gets rid of the problem.
The nerve they have trying to charge full price for the game and have an in-game shop for cosmetics and more battle pass B.S. to keep the cash coming in, but the game doesn’t even function at a basic level for a large part of the community. There are games that are made by one person, or a team of a few people that run a million times better than this game.
Game also freezing just clicking on a spell to move it into the cast bar. Enough is enough!
I’m going to raise my hand too it happening to me as well. Mine crashes and then says it has to reconnect to the Diablo server.
