Game Crashing specifically after patch 1.0.3 (June 27th) (Addressed with Patch)

i only manage to submit a ticket after 2days of trying…

was able to play for a good while tested dungeons and world events and didn’t get kicked like for a couple of hours til i got off

I am crashing as well after the new patch. Never had a problem before, now it is non stop. Sometimes every 10 minutes, sometimes it will run for 30 minutes.

I’m having the same issue after the June 27 Update. I tried reinstalling my GPU drivers and reinstalling the game, but it still crashes with the Fenris error. I’m not sure what to try next. I will most likely wait until Blizzard can fix the issue.
My Specs:
OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro (10.0.19045 Build 19045)
Processor: Intel(R) Core™ i9-10850K CPU @ 3.60GH
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT
RAM: G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 4400
Motherbaord: MSI MEG Z490 ACE LGA 1200 Intel Z490 SATA 6Gb/s ATX Intel Motherboard
Monitor: ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQ 27” Gaming Monitor, 1440P WQHD (2560 x 1440), Fast IPS, 170Hz, 1ms

i understand that may be the case, i am just simply saying what worked for me and i was able to play without crashing for hours…i agree the game is trash when it comes to optimizations and coding…no wonder they need to be bought out

Prior to patch i was on 1440p high res features and 150% upscale gpu was pulling 19/20,000 ram usage and there was no issues

Happy for you. I turned my xmp ram profile back on and I crashed an hour in. But prior to that just turning my oc down on my CPU had me crash free for 3 hours. I went in and I reduced my core voltage -.25 again since I don’t think I need to be so high for 4.7 GHz. Ran smooth again for another hour. Total of 5 hours with just 1 crash in between I’ll take it. Doubt I’ll notice the .3ghz to be honest. It was always just a flex to run at 5ghz on the 9700k… Anyway should make my CPU run a bit cooler too as a byproduct.

My ping goes to 2000 you been disconnected from server, try to log back you your account has been locked, for 6 days I have not been able to play. This is ridiculous, like I just want to play the game I payed for. I have a 3080ti 32gbs of ram, 600 download, please blizzard for the love of god fix your game.

Hi guys, for those of you having the random and instantaneous crashes to desktop with the FENRIS error popup, I have done some things that have reduced crashing from every 5 minutes to every hour or so.

Before I started forum posting and error log spelunking, I file repaired (did nothing) and reinstalled onto my SSD without the high res texture pack (unsure if this helped, certainly helped me get back into game a lot faster after a crash though! fast load screens op.

Afterwards, I tracked my vram usage in game. It very clearly increases over time, although high vram usage isn’t always a problem when I crash. However, you can reset the increase in vram usage by changing your texture settings. It doesn’t matter what you change it to, it will reduce the vram usage down to what it would be if you had just launched the game. I recommend setting it back to low afterwards though.

Second, limiting both my monitor and in game fps/refresh rate to 60 hz seemed to have the greatest effect on stability. I also manually set the game to high performance mode in windows 11 graphics settings.

I also disabled all audio devices on my PC besides my speakers and headphones. This might be a bit tinfoil-y from a different thread - unsure if it had any effect. But “polling audio devices” seemed to come up before a crash in the fenris logs for another user.

In the crash logs, the most pertinent lines seem to be:

|W 2023.06.29 04:37:29.797279|[Online.Systems.CPresence] Unhandled fenris game account presence field | presence_field_id: 11|
|—|—|
|W 2023.06.29 04:37:38.672279|[Online.Systems.CPresence] Unhandled fenris game account presence field | presence_field_id: 11|
|I 2023.06.29 04:38:35.926465|[Crash] Thread ‘MainThread’ handling fatal error|
|I 2023.06.29 04:38:35.927757|[Crash] UnhandledExceptionFilter|
|I 2023.06.29 04:38:35.927895|[Crash] Crashed thread: ‘MainThread’ (0x1218)|

and then:
UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: ACCESS_VIOLATION (c0000005) at:
DBG-OPTIONS
DBG-ADDR<00007FF755621321>(“Diablo IV.exe”)

So, some other predictions that the game is trying to access something not yet saved to memory may be true as well. But, the memory leak does certainly exist.

Hopefully this helps at least a few of you get some stability… I can do like 2 nightmare dungeons out of every 3 without crashing now at least shrug. Game usually stays stable for at least a good 40 minutes after relaunching it post-crash. Before I did this it was unplayable.

So, TLDR, set your game and monitor to 60hz, change your texture settings after portaling into a new zone and you may extend how long you can play before a crash. Good luck!

Same thing for me since update. Crashing continuously since update and can’t play. Running an RTX3080 and tried all the fix suggestions to no avail.

Maybe it helps someone. I have disabled Intel CPU Turbo Boost Technology in Bios and since 3h no crash. There are 2 settings in Bios. Disabled both. Before every 5-10 min.

Same issue. Leveled to 100 before patch without crashing. Fenris crash every hour after patch.

TLDR: The (potential) fix is to disable the following two settings:

Open Diablo 4 → Main Menu → Options → Graphics Tab.
Setting 1: “NVIDIA DLSS” - Make sure this is NOT set to DLAA (so Ultra Performance, Performance, Balanced, and Quality are ok, anything but DLAA)
Setting 2: “NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency” is set to “Disabled” (So no “enabled” or “enabled+boost”)

After reading through several other threads, reddit posts, and discussions on discord I’ve found the above possible solution.

I tested many solutions (reinstall, update gfx drivers, reboot, etc etc etc) and nothing seemed to fix the issue. Going into game, however, and disabling those two options seemed to do it for me and several others who have responded so far.

At the moment it crashes right when I log in, so I can’t even access any options

Same here.
Since the release no problems, directly after the installtion of the patch, unplayable Fenris error every few minutes. The game is broken for me.

Disable Frame Generation and NVIDIA Reflex didn’t help too much, the game keep crashing for me last night. But my clan friends never crash so I have thought hardly for the HW different between us and I’m now trying completely disable G-Sync in NVCP and reopen legacy Vsync in game instead. Will update the result after half day game play. Wish me a good luck.

Crashed 5-6 times while playing over the last few hours. Had no issues before the patch.
