A standard feature in every paragon planner you can find online click to expand

Our Paragon boards are designed to require a lot of clicking or button pressing. Up to 300 times with full paragon level; one click has minimal benefits. This system is tiring for the mind and tiring for the hands. Very ineffective in any case and it encourages players to look for a guide.
In the early days of Diablo 4 there was no “Refund All” button. So each paragon point has to be taken back manually or with a special item that also wipes your talent tree. After a few seasons the option to reset all paragon points was added, which is helpful.
However, it missed the point for players that dont grab their ‘set & forget’ builds online. Figuring out paragon pathes by yourself still requires going back and forth between certain nodes and individual boards, which the current refund button is not able to handle. Here in most cases it does not make sense to reset back to the start.
Thats why experimenting with Paragon nodes is a pain. It makes me wonder how the devs use their Paragon system themselves. A system should be able to provide a user-friendly experience without the need for a guide or dev interface.
Mockup for resetting individual boards
For this post I decided to prepare a mockup with a minor change to how the reset works in Paragon planners you can find on most fansites. Nothing ground breaking; the feature is still the same, but I removed the need for extra button space.
In the two images below you can see the attachment door nodes being replaced by another bigger node. This big door node displays a X-button if the attached board is not connected to other boards. If a player clicks on the X then the individual board is detached and its points are refunded:
'Refund All' is useless for customization click to expand
In general there is to say that the “Refund All” method is the inferior version of resetting individual boards. I was quite surprised as to why the latter one wasnt the first choice when the board reset feature was implemented. Because just a maximum of 5 individual clicks (one per board) would achieve the same result of resetting everything, but more importantly, it provides much better control and comfort with Paragon customization.
For instance, it often happens to me that I want to swap the board order to fulfill some rare node’s dexterity/strength/intelligence requirements earlier. There may be two or three correct boards that I dont need to reset, so the Refund All button will not be touched. Then I disable all the nodes in the ‘wrong’ boards, only to enable the same ones again after a swap. A board reset could save me hundreds of clicks in this case.

This is the other big improvement I wish the Paragon system would have. I believe it only exists in the diablo4.life planner. Super fun to use and extremely fast for setting up 5 boards.
