My husband has had to close the game a couple of times on PS5 and still was able to get right back on. I have had this issue on PS5 & PC.
Now that is an interesting twist.
Edit: I logged in with my sons account on my computer and it worked with no issues. IMO it is 100% an account issue.
This error started happening when I tried to create a new character. I was able to login and play without issues all weekend.
Mine is when I logged out to switch characters. It kicked me and now giving me this error.
Managed to get to Level 19 and a half then headed to the Cathedral of Light and my main story questline didnt progress. Couldnt get out in the town and couldnt TP anywhere either. Had to relog and getting the 397000 error code ever since. My mental state cannot handle not getting this wolf pup
I went to make a new character (to try the Druid out) with my husband this morning and then it wouldnāt let me join his game. His char is lvl 7 and past the prologue. Not sure if that had something to do with all this or not.
Same here! After several reboots and trying all your suggestions, I finally decided to give up. Well-done Blizzard, like always, doing an amazing job!

As your husband is past the prologue you will also have to complete it to join him, I believe.

Precisely the same issue others are having, and precisely the same troubleshooting failures others are having.
Downloaded Friday (03/24/2023) night (MDT), played for much of last night (03/25ā26/2023), am now unable to log in this morning (03/26/2023).
Have been a Diablo gamer for over two decades now, and I can say with sarcastic nostalgia that weāre getting the authentic Blizzard experience. So very glad I set aside time for this āfreeā open Beta, but the jokeās on me for having expectations.
Edit: took a 2-hour nap, rebooted PC, and logged right in without error. If youāre having this error, I donāt think thereās anything you can do to control the situation except possibly creating an entirely new battle.net account, which obviously means starting the game from scratch. Probably not worth it this close to the end of the window of gameplay opportunity.

I decided to make a new account as a test since someone further up mentioned their spouse could log in on their PC, and it works. Iāve just used my google account to log in to Battle.net and Iām able to make a new character and play.
Hopefully thisāll help people who want the wolf, sadly you will have to make fresh characters due to the new account, and then purchase the game on that account too.
I plan to just wait it out imo, hopefully this is fixed soon.

Just imagine for a second you buy two games just to have a wolfā¦best 160 euros ever.
This is currently happening to me. It was working fine 2 hours ago or so. the game crashed and it started. scan for repairs, reinstall, nothing is working.
Same code on PC Windows 11. Was doing the main quest, kill the motherās minions. After I killed them all, the quest did not complete. The UI recognized that I had met the requirements, but it never moved me to the next quest. Tried to relog and couldnāt get back in. Tried to jump into a couch coop on my Xbox, could not connect.
Wifeās account continues to connect just fine.
I got the same idea, but got stuck on the āverifying humanityā screen
