Dswing barb hitting for over 1.5 - 2m

@Actua @Conan

Since you guys were able to test the build out is it easy to stay above 80% hp? If so would Imbiber be a good addition to the glyphs?

im playing at 70+nm dungeon rn and stuff regularly 1 shots or eats me in a second despite 12khp and being fortified.

Its really a kill or be killed situation. Comes a point where you just cant tank it anymore, so gotta reposition, CC , kill quick, etc.

Been following this thread and am playing around with a double swing build. I tried rend and WW and this is much better than rend and WW was kinda boring

Im only level 60 and am trying to optimize - currently running frenzy, DS, 2 shouts, deathblow and stomp for the stun synergy

Some things I cant decide on - maybe you guys with more experience can help

Unbridled Rage vs unconstrained? Getting beserking is pretty easy so not sure unconstrained is the best pick. Tried running UR and the damage was awesome but I was having troubles keeping up with the rage cost

Frenzy vs lunging?

What about glyphs? Is amydextrous worth it? 8%x2 worth it? Doesn’t sound like much?
Mortal draw? With deathblow (and maybe lunging it could synergize nicely

I’m starting to think double swing needs a buff by about 1.5-2x dmg. Before you guys freak out and say holy cow, it is already hitting for upwards of 2mil - yes, that is true but pretty much only when things are stunned and vuln. Outside of those windows, it’s about a third of that meaning it’s not the greatest vs bosses which is weird because it’s more of a close up and personal type of move.

With that said, IF barb dmg is the power goal for all classes and they are all overturned (specific builds) then I’d be fine with that and they should bring them down to our level. But, if they are at the correct power levels, then it needs a massive buff.

Lunging is a solid pick over frenzy. UR over unconstrained. And ambidextrous is a solid glyph for dual swing.

For lunging you can go the berserk path if your not running a rage of harrogath. Resource gen is a bit tricky. If you have bold chieftains and echoing fury on rings then you can probably have warcry for the meantime with rallying cry.

It actually sounds fair considering how up close and personal you have to be aside from the fact the it may have one of the smallest area of effect out of the core skills. Another 1.5 - 2% inc would really be nice.

Thing is everything is always stunned and vuln with this build, its the whole point. That and the atk speed.

For bosses you build upp their stun meter and usually 1 shot em.

Oooooo since you mentioned this have tried having a mace on one of your 1 handed weapons and have wallop? Also I think there was a glyph that functioned similarly to ambidextrous. I’ll try to look for it.

Normal bosses, sure. Lilith? Not quite. With stun talent with maces and aspect to stun bleed targets, it takes a good 45 seconds to stagger her. Each time after that it takes longer and longer.

yeah, im running with 1 mace and wallop. Then you can dip into wallop and concussion.

Its pretty great.

This might be pushing our paragon board limits but did you also run crusher by any chance? I might not have noticed you mentioning it or didn’t read the replies properly. Sorry

Is that the overpower one? No havent tried it.

Maybe if I did a specific overpower build, but dont think it would add much here aside from some omega crits everynow and then.

D-swing is like the funnest way to play barb in my opinion.

I would say stick with unconstrained until you get more max fury and fury cost reduction in your build.

If you use the warbringer paragon board, there are a couple rare nodes that increase your max fury by quite a bit, which would allow you to bring out the big-boy (unbridled rage) dswings out. You also would need to invest in fury cost reduction in your amulet and boots.

With 22.5% fury reduction in ammy, and 10% in boots; my unbridled dswing costs 35 fury. You need to get the fury cost of d-swing as low as possible, so the 25 you gain back whilst spamming in stun windows, (and combined with other fury generation bonuses) will allow you to break even in fury cost. Otherwise, you’ll have trouble keeping rage cost up.

For glyphs, I would say, wrath, exploit, territorial are top 3. Ambidextrous seems pretty good imo for the flawless technique board…but I wouldnt rush that first.

Have you considered Steel Grasp instead of death blow? Steel grasp and double swing is a match made in heaven (especially after the recent update that boosted its reliability). Get the aspect that increases steel grasps charge +1, and giving it a chance to stun…and you’ll most likely get a stun with every big monster pack.

Yes it is and True, not sure if the damage go mace bonus is additive or multiplicative as well. But if you do get it to 21 and have a board for it with good str surrounding it could get a bonus

with 1 mace and concussion, do you still run aspect of anemia? or do you think its redundant.

running both, stun unlocks your dmg (80% from retribution) and probably is the biggest contributor to staying alive. Stunned mobs dont kill you lol.

The only reason to run mace would be to double up on that 30% chance, making it 60%, but it’s not worth it at all. Everything is stunned anyway. Especially if you spread your stuns with the aspect of Shared Misery and use Ground Stomp.

Swords just provide way too much. Crit implicit, fury/30% attack speed from expertise, plus Ambidextrous and Seething glyphs, etc. Maces provide a bit of extra stun, 15% damage, and 10% lucky hit to Berserk, at the cost of 6 skill points, 30% attack speed, fury, a giant damage glyph, and like 50% crit damage? No thanks, my dudes! I’ve tried both and it’s no bueno on the maces compared to swords.

true you have a point…but at the same time, i think every double swing barb will come to the point where they’ll have to squeeze out every bit of damage and sacrifice a bit of stun, since elites wont always die before they get unstoppabled…

i guess we just have to experiment and play it by ear.

Thanks!
I had steel grasps instead of stomp for a while but was really missing a reliable stun.
Btw the unique you are talking about applies slow not stun unless I’m thinking of the wrong thing

Sometimes deathblow is nice for trash. Maybe once my fury and damage output gets better I can drop it

I use Exploiter’s aspect, which is 50%[x] to Unstoppable enemies. Amazing for that and the dungeons that have the Unstoppable under 30% life mod.
