Disconnects and crashing every few minutes for 3 weeks (PC)

I had hoped to be able to finish last season journey, but with the constant disconnects it proved impossible so I never succeded. Very dissapointing.

Now everything is happening again in the new season, and I’m about to give up on this game. I’m VERY happy I didn’t preorder the expansion.

My PC is fully updated and NONE of my other games disconnects and crashes. Dear support, can you tell me what the problem is? I’d be more than happy to send you some logs or error-codes, but as the game crashes after disconnect, I see none.

PS. Again: Everything on my PC is up to date and I havent installed any new software for about 6 months. And every other connected game works without exception.

Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i9 11950H
GPU: Nvidia RTX A3000 Laptop GPU (6gb GDDR6)
RAM: 32gb DDR4
Nvidia-drivers: 552.86 (had the same problems on 552.22)
Network: Cabled at 500mbit speed

1 - support isn’t going to reach out to you

2 - if you’re posting here for help put your pc specs and info.

most importantly > cpu + gpu and current driver

Turn crossplay off. The reason you are crashing is cause the game is loading each players items in every stash in your area and its overloading your pc. This game is a joke when it comes to optimization and coding

Welp. 'Nother thread with the same story.

PC is perfect, internet is perfect, other games play fine, so it ain’t on my end it has to be Blizzard’s fault!

Hate to be the one to tell you this pumpkin, but while the game is extremely finicky, picky and generally sensitive to damn near anything borking it, the problem is 99.8% likely to be in your realm of control at least.

Now, whether you want to invest some time and troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue is entirely up to you, but don’t count on the technical support thread actually getting post from anyone that actually is IN technical support with Blizzard.

Aside from a few of us that actually have been on the forums here monitoring problems for the past year and helping solve some of them for others, that’s all we got.

So.

You can view these threads below for tips and suggestions on things to try or you can continue to wait for a response:

-For everyone having connection issues of various types: UPDATE 6-9-24

-Diablo IV has run out of memory - #103 by DTMAce-1687

-Game crashing after Nvidia Update - #14 by DTMAce-1687

being condescending doesnt work. My ping is under 90, I have 64gb of ram nvidia 4090 intel i9 3200 Mhz 24 cores and 32 logical processors. Ive dont most of the fixes I can find and it still doesnt work… tell me more how its not a diablo game problem. I have 0 issues with any other games I play its ONLY d4 and ONLY since this updated patch.

Well, have to forgive me, I read the same story a lot in here.

I have a similar system, game plays perfectly fine so far this season.

i9, 32GB DDR5, 4080S. *shrug

1440p @ 100 FPS with full ultra settings/RT mostly enabled. DLSS@DLAA and full crossplay enabled.

And playing on Starlink most of the time, but occasionally on a 10MB DSL via Brightspeed when I want a stable connection.

I’ve seen the threads. I did loads of suggestions. I even did the most ridiculuos of them all and called my ISP. I slogged through loads of condecending answers. I didn’t want to post a wall of text explaining this, so I kept it simple. Hoping.

I’m sorry you are hurt, zucchini. Hurt by my cry for help and tech support on the tech support forum.

But thx a lot for the links. Even through my own sarcastic tone, I really do appreciate it. I just hope there’s a solution in there that is within my “realm of control”. They should really add that to the recommend specs

The issue with your theory is I have not crashed at all until the patch yesterday. It’s def the game, but even believing that I have spent the majority of today going through all of the listed steps and have done a complete uninstall TWICE.

Done the same nothing works and blizzard doesnt care. I canceled my prepurchase of the expansion

There were a few posted elsewhere that suggested changing the DNS server option?

Mine has always used Google DNS anyway, so it may not be a problem because its already setup on my network from the router out, but perhaps you can try it?

Steps can be found here:

Well, I found a fix. I did a clean install of windows and it fixed it. D4 was on a separate SSD so I didn’t even reinstall the game.

Well, that would indicate an issue with another program that was installed (and has yet to be reinstalled) or Windows itself.

Sounds like cutting off your leg to fix your toe, but I have seen others go to that level to fix it before.

It really is crossplay for me.

S4 was tolerable. But the beginning of S5 was terrible. The moment i turn off crossplay, it’s working great again.

Unforunately, I wanted to do some multiplayer duriel/andariels, I needed to turn on crossplay. Lo and behold, game immediately crashes again when trying to do stuff.

I’m only asking the following as a clarification in your case:

  1. Are you running ANY kind of VPN?

  2. Who is your ISP provider?

  3. Where are you geographically located? Nearest City will be sufficient.
