Can we stop with the button spam?

So many builds (tried and tested) can be played by macroing all buttons (or most buttons) into one button, that are spammed multiple times per second each, on an autofire type macro. This leads to massive damage and boring gameplay.

Now you could say, well just dont macro every button to one then,… ok so now Im spamming 6 buttons mindlessly, multiple times per second. Is that better? No.

I propose that they just up the damage of these skills to match the damage that pressing them 2-3 times per second is doing, so we dont have people crying that “omg nerf no.” But right now, this is basically a walking simulator that you just right click and hold while the game plays itself. Skills have no decision making to them: do I use my defensive now? Do I use my travel skill or wait for the next telegraph… it doesnt matter, it will reset instantly so I will just spam everything all day. High damage season? Yes. Boring gameplay. Yes. Can we make these mutually exclusive? I hope so.

Wouldn’t this create an issue for console players? Some skills on console rely on attack speed and benefit from how quickly you can spam a button. Other skills, especially those designed for holding the button down, require sustained input for continuous buffs or damage. What you’re proposing might end up favoring one type of skill playstyle over another, particularly in terms of how they are used on console.

For instance, certain skills are meant to be spammed to maximize damage (which is often exploited through macros on PC, leading to the problem you’re addressing). On the other hand, some skills are designed to be held down to maintain buffs or ongoing effects. Console players rely on this holding mechanic because spamming doesn’t improve their frame rate or performance, and it’s the primary way for them to achieve their normal DPS. Without it, their damage output could fall far behind that of PC players, who don’t face the same limitations.

It also leads to bans and inevitably posts like “I got banned for no reason”

exactly. If you are using macros right now OP i HIGHLY suggest you stop doing it.

I’ve decided officially that I am old.

There is no ARPG where this is not the general case. Yes, spamming skills, of which you have a limited number, repeatedly at the enemies, kills them. That’s the whole game.

If you’re in you’re 20s and this is your first or second intro to the iso-ARPG-genre that’s all of them. It’s literally all of them. 100% of them. All end-game builds you’ll see on Youtube are just spamming lots of skills repeatedly in rapid fashion.

I completely agree with you. Played my sorc and switched to rogue for the first time, and it was even worse. It was button smashing like Tekken.

I instantly had to think about Diablo2 LoD. Hitting the same buttons all the time, non-stop does not improve the gameplay at all. I is just not relaxing.

For doing something Blizzard has stated multiple times is allowed and not against TOS? You guys should really read the rules and then use the smart part of your brain when you post.

errr… you should read the ToS again my friend. ill copy paste it for you in a sec.

  1. Cheating: Create, use, offer, promote, advertise, make available and/or distribute the following or assist therein:
  2. cheats; i.e. methods not expressly authorized by Blizzard (whether accomplished using hardware, software, a combination thereof, or otherwise), influencing and/or facilitating gameplay, including exploits of any in-game bugs, and thereby granting you and/or any other user an advantage over other players not using such methods;

2. bots; i.e. any code and/or software, not expressly authorized by Blizzard, that allows the automated control of a Game, or any other feature of the Platform, e.g. the automated control of a character in a Game;

  1. hacks; i.e. accessing or modifying the software of the Platform in any manner not expressly authorized by Blizzard; and/or
  2. any code and/or software, not expressly authorized by Blizzard, that can be used in connection with the Platform and/or any component or feature thereof which changes and/or facilitates the gameplay or other functionality;

Neither did Blizzard ever state that macros are allowed. With the exception of the in game Macro function of World of Warcraft.

But you do you. We had people being banned for “cheating” before who said they “didnt do anything”.

I am at the keyboard and therefore, it is not automated control of a character.

It is written in english, I assume english is not your primary language?

Macros are automated controls of a character.

As i said, you do you, but dont come crying if your account gets banned. Let alone that a Forum CM might forward this.

Oh nooooo… not the forum boogyman! Again, you think whatever made up stuff you want. The english is plain and simple to read. Im safe.

it is indeed plain english. Macros are possible due to software, and they automate the actions of your character.

1 Key Press has to be 1 single action.

If you want to ignore this, thats your choice. Anyway. Flagging this thread as you clearly want to keep cheating.

Calm down Kamala. You lost. Move on.

As i said, please dont come crying.

Yep. To be able to do this just proves how bad this game is.

The official stance on macros is one input = one action. You can macro every skill to one button as long as when you push that button it is only firing one skill each time you push it. If it is firing more than one skill when you push it then that is automation and not allowed.

Do what you want to do. People are just warning you that you could get banned. If you don’t care about that, thats your business. Just dont come here making a post saying “I got banned for no reason. Im trying to think about what I may have done but I was playing and then left for a smoke break and came back and I was banned”

This has been done on stream by major streamers. No ban. It requires someone at the keyboard playing.

This isnt even the point of the post. The point is you can do this and the outcome is exactly the same as pressing every button yourself multiple times a second. Boring, unengaging, thoughtless gameplay. There is no decision making, just run around and mash everything at the same time. THATS the point. You guys should go rub each other to the thought of bans somewhere else.

clearly, because you cheat.

Run and go tell mommy.

i already did UwU :3
