The concept of bosses like duriel, andariel and doge having phases is so bad.
I just cannot stand it - if blizzard want us to farm “x” boss 100x times (or sometimes even more), don’t make us suffer and wait for every stupid phase.
For me it is one of the worst thing they “gave” us.
I hate doing these bosses in this season, and I dislike everything about them now.
I am not sure who had the “great” idea of implementing this, but someone propably had a stroke. Everyone I know hate it
Please change it

fyi, it was the youtubers who kept nagging the blizzard devs about lame boss fights that could be 1-shot.
after all the humiliation piled on, the devs had to push back. now you can see those same youtubers have gone quiet after messing things up for the whole community.

At the very least, the immunity phases should have a timer before the health thresholds kick in (kinda like The Beast in Ice, but a little more stringent for the top bosses).
-
The first timer should only be one second from when the boss is capable of taking damage. If you CAN one-shot the boss, congratulations, that’s awesome! If not, but did damage beyond the first health threshold, it sticks, and you’re ahead of the game. Otherwise the first immunity phase triggers at the standard threshold.
-
The second, and subsequent, immunity phases should come EITHER at the next health threshold OR after 3-5 seconds (or more, or less… this is where Blizz can really fine-tune the difficulty of each boss fight) - whichever comes LAST. If you can grind the boss down in that time, again, congratulations!
-
For the love of all that is holy: GET RID OF ANY AND ALL “LAST SLIVER OF HEALTH” IMMUNITY PHASES!! And no “mandatory” phases if the boss is killed within those small windows of time.
This would preserve the new mechanics, but still reward players for powering up their characters by making the fights meaningfully shorter by skipping some - or all - phases.

Tormented Andariel is notorious for this. In torment 4, she is more difficult than Lilith, Harbinger, Belial and Duriel. Belial is super easy. Duriel is Easy, Harbinger is doable, Lilith is fun, but Andariel is impossible.

Some of them youtubers have even stopped playing D4.

I can’t beat Andariel which means I can’t finish season journey, I wish Blizzard would stop doing this BS for season journey, It’s supposed to be fun not stress.
Not all of us are 16 year olds with lightning reflexes anymore, Let’s see these devs at 50+ try and beat some of these ridiculous boss mechanics.
Probably will be last season for me, Not worth it anymore if they keep doing this.
It’s either kill Lilith to get boss power to kill another boss or Kill Andariel, Can’t do either.
As a solo player I’m stuffed

For me, it was easier to kill Lilith in Torment 4 than it was Andariel.

Hahaha! And I want to see them try to figure out which of Belial’s eyes is closed with less-than-pefect eyesight.
Seriously, I think it’s an accessibility issue… especially when the closed eye is at the edge of the arch so only a tiny sliver of difference indicates that’s is closed.
Who was it? I want to go watch them advocate for it so I can see their stance now.
Now bosses start fighting by pushing us away to prevent 1 Hit Kill and have 3 immortal phases that someone calls “challenging” Uhh?
If soccer had a rule that every 30 mins you can shoot only 1 score, would that call challenging?
The funny thing is they put in all these “immunity phases” and they don’t reliably work. I’ve killed Duriel a couple of times before the 3rd phase starts with my Hydra sorceress. Apparently DoT damage can still hit him while he’s buried. Or maybe it’s the residual Burning damage… who knows with Blizzard math? Regardless he dies while underground then his corpse erupts and ends the fight. And it’s not like “oh, he’s actually starting to come up” both of the kills happened after he was underground for about a second. So long before his immunity phase was supposed to end.
Its ok if you arent good enough to accomplish some things. You cant make a game so incredibly essy that everyone wins.
Then when no one plays but the content parasites…no one will care about the game and won’t watch the content parasites…then they’ll leave too to ruin another game. Because Twitch streamers and their communities are the second worst thing to happen to gaming…I would say what the first is, but it would TRIGGER certain people.

It’s going to be fun watching people like you especially as you play your ever increasingly dead game. Still just telling everyone else to “git gud”.

I posted an idea to make the situation better.
Idea to make higher torment bosses less of a time sink
In short:
For each additional torment tier, you need double the resources to open the chest. This way, you can spend twice as much time on a torment 4 boss as on a torment 3 boss.
To compensate for the higher cost, you have twice the chance for an item being ancestral.
The chances could look like that, the base chance is a guess of mine:
- Torment 1:
5 Uniques, each with a 12.5% chance of being ancestral,
0.1% chance of being mythic per item, 12 materials
- Torment 2:
5 Uniques, each with a 25% chance of being ancestral,
0.2% chance of being mythic per item, 24 materials
- Torment 3:
6 Uniques, each with a 50% chance of being ancestral,
0.4% chance of being mythic per item, 48 materials
- Torment 4:
7 Uniques, each with a 100% chance of being ancestral,
0.8% chance of being mythic per item, 96 materials
That way longer fights will be compensated by doing less fights.
By the way, one-shotting every boss is a terrible solution.
Then your ability to finish the boss does not depend on your skill, but on the strength of your build.
You are denying players with weaker builds the ability to do the higher bosses, you on the other hand want the boss be killed in an instance.
- The solution is to make the phases in between a bit easier, less one-shot mechanics, a bit more time to react, not gated behind class abilities.
- I would argue that the fights would be better if they need at least be 10 seconds long, thus in the first 10 seconds you can only do 10 % damage per second max. This way you have to play some mechanics, you cannot play a glas cannon build one-shotting everything.
- The important part is, that all mechanics are really playable by all classes and builds.
I dont care how many people do or dont play the game. It doesnt concern me in the slightest.

Remember that when Blizzard effectively abandons it or as they crank the monetization up higher and higher trying to please stockholders or when you can’t find a group for anything.
Another corporate shill who never disappoints with their trolling nonsense on nearly every thread…
Immunity phases & cheap one-shots should be done away with entirely. Blizzard needs to learn how to PROPERLY BALANCE both bosses & player classes. Reasonable challenge is one thing & is something that’s needed. That much is certain. However, forced boss immunity phases & cheap one-shots are another thing entirely. Blizzard claims to be in favor of so-called “build variety”. It’s the same few meta builds dominating every single season. Head over there to Icy Veins for proof of what I mean here…
