Do you really worry about things like this? If they did, it wouldnt bother me. Its just a game, there are tons out there.
Who are you and why are you so triggered? Its ok if people have different opinions but apparently you cant handle that
As usual. Streamers are some of the lamest people because they influence things based on the fact that they have no lives and can play these games without a reasonable consideration of time – time that most gamers simply do not have to invest in a game where they want to have FUN. Tediousness is not fun for a fair amount of people. On that note, it’s also not fun to just one shot everything. There needs to be a happy medium that doesn’t include phases that waste your time – be it lengthy stupid death animations, diving underground, having so much go on that the player struggles to down the boss because they have three plus things in the environment to avoid, or having mechanics that are effectively both deadly and unavoidable.
they can’t make bosses challenging without some mandatory immune phase mechanic
What class?
Andariel is a piece of cake compared to Lilith. Because all of her phases can be choreographed.
Been trying to kill Lilith for several days now as a druid (cataclysm). Because of the cooldown, you need to be practically perfect and can’t misclick once for the entire battle or you’ll die. And you need to also have luck on your side, because 3 of the wave patterns she does will kill you, and because you don’t have an immortality skill like a rogue, necro, or sorc, they’ll kill you no matter what if she uses them.
And the adds, which you have to face, because cataclysm has a 12+ second cooldown, and there’s no way to kill the adds during the same time you brought Lilith to the next phase, also can drag you into the waves, and there’s no avoiding that if they happen to do that.
Plus, you have to hope that when you kill the adds, and face the next wave from Lilith, you still have time to bring her to the next phase, or else she’ll spawn blood boils which will explode and kill you, as you won’t have time to start a new provoke cycle.
And, that’s just phase one. For phase 2, you need to make sure you have a secondary rune power to grant unstoppable, and you need to make sure that goes off exactly as she does her spin stomp, otherwise you’ll waste your bulwork, meaning no cataclysm, i.e. no damage for 12+ more seconds.
In other words, Andariel can be timed. Lilith requires practically perfect play as well as benefitting from a series of RNGs if you want to win as a druid. She’s not balanced at all, which is why almost everyone who’s killed her (without being carried) is a rogue, necro, or sorc.
(Not to mention I killed Andariel the first time with 11k hp. And I’m maxed out now on defense and HP for Lilith (skills, incenses, etc.), no possibility of going higher without Tyrael’s Might, or nerfing my ability to play T4 by replacing all the glyphs, and she still one shots me with her normal attacks which are meant to be tanked, unless I happen to use Belial’s power during those phases).
Was about to say in general I kinda like the boss fight changes, apparently was wrong
I mean, the problem lies within the need to “farm” bosses repeatedly itself. IDK how to fix it except reduce the need to go there and then in that case I think/imagine it would be ok
The fights themselves are (relatively) ok, actually there’s a bug where dead body of Zir remains for next round and within few rounds it’s almost impossible to see what’s going on - need to fix that
Scaling consequences, can’t have a consistent boss HP when player DPS can differ with a factor of hundreds if not thousands even
I’ve about decided you’re just a troll. Tell everyone who complains everything is fine, and if you run it into the ground you’ll just play something else. So troll or actual fanboy, you get the bucket.
EDIT: and you have a hidden profile, making it more difficult for people to see your posts or add you to ignore. Troll it is. Luckily, I know how to add you to ignore anyway.
Just because someone disagrees with you does not make them a troll. I dont worry about player count or if the game stops providing updates. Why would you? Its just a game, it doesnt matter. You cant tell me you really worry about something like that. Its so weird how once someone provides a differing view point some of you really cant handle it.
Rogue death trap, she has too many phases compared to Lilith. They need to get rid of phases all together and introduce (almost) same kind of scalable Resilience that world bosses have, and give them a barrier (that can be broken given enough damage).
OK, with Rogue Death Trap, I understand why you view Lilith as easier.
Take into consideration though, that balance is definitely a thing lacking. You can make mistakes on Lilith, whereas certain classes, as mentioned previously, aren’t allowed to make any mistakes and are also bound to luck on Lilith, whereas Andariel is a pure mechanical fight. (I.e. With certain classes, about half the time with Lilith, you will die on the first phase, and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it.)
The key with the instagib beam is that the circle is broken up into multiple sections of fat and thin. Now, obviously the beam makes it so you’re in a semi-circle, but there are still several fat and thin sections within that semi-circle.
You want to be in one of the middle fat sections. I.e. Try to be not to close to either beam section. Because she also spawns adds which will explode and knock you back. If you’re in one of the thing sections, you’re pretty much dead. If you’re in one of the fat sections though, you can just stop for a few seconds, have the adds come to you, and get into the exploding phase. And you can then move to another part of the fat section. This will buy you a few seconds to move through the thin section, as avoiding those red balls of death are super annoying if you have to also deal with the adds. Without the adds though, it’s not too bad.
In a campfire chat a while back, the dev team talked about systems in the game being “solvable”.
For example, resistances and armor are something you have to keep an eye on, but eventually you hit the cap, and those defences are “solved”. Same with mats and gold and gems.
Immunity phases need to be “solvable” too. What’s mind boggling is they ALREADY HAVE the basic mechanics for this on other bosses, The Beast in Ice is a prime example. There is a window of time at the start of the battle when the health thresholds to trigger immunity phases are deactivated. If you can kill him in that time, you skip the immunity phases… You “solve” the immunity challenge.
Obviously, the no-health-threshold window should get smaller and smaller as you climb the boss ladder and move up in world tiers, but it should always be there, on every boss (except Lilith).
And there should also be a similar brief window after every immunity phase.
I think this would be a massively rewarding progression for players. Imagine starting out having to slog through all phases of Andariel, then you level up and eventually can clear her with just one phase in the middle, and later you can can finally drop her with no phases… Congratulations! You’ve “solved” Andariel!
That would be awesome!
So, while you can’t skip all the phases with Andariel, you can skip a couple of the super annoying ones, making the battle 10x easier. You need to time your damage though.
Lilith was made so hard now you are forced to do all mechanics in each phase. It’s a true test of greatness and skill once again.
That’s a terrible example, because he is one of the most annoying bosses of all the Tier 1 bosses.
As a minion necromancer, I can either kill him fast enough, which is difficult because my minions need to attack 6 times (so about 3 seconds) to proc ring of mendeln, or I need to go to later phases, where all my minions will get pushed out of the circle and die. When Beast in the Ice can be damaged again, I have no minions left, and therefore I am doing no damage.
That’s the reason I only try him in Torment 3.
- If killing Lord Zir takes a bit longer, he will spawn some adds, some blood on the ground, but he still can be beaten easily.
- If killing Grigoire takes too long, you need to play some real mechanics, but this can be done. You either have to face tank him, or find a save spot.
- Varshand is a bit more dangerous, because of the pattern he put on the ground. Having immunity is the easiest solution here.
The problem I have with solutions like kill him inside a 3 seconds window or die is, that you just need a high dps build, toughness isn’t important and learning the boss fight isn’t needed as well.
Doing a boss like a dps check is not a real boss fight.
Everybody should play the boss mechanics every time.
This is why I think Durial is the best boss fight.
Do damage until 66% life - run away, kill 3 adds, don’t let him hit you on the way out. Repeat. Finish him.
If I am doing less damage, the damaging phase will take longer and the adds needs more time to kill, but it is still the same fight.
Playing an OP build and getting a fast pass for all bosses is stupid.
Why not just open the chest without killing the boss?
The mechanics should always be fun and you should only lose the fight if you don’t have enough toughness or you make a mistake.
That would be a solution to have a minimum time a boss fight takes.
If you can at most do 5 % damage per second to a boss, than you will need to play these phases at least for 20 seconds.
But the phases should be doable. The Harbinger’s fight is one of the most annoying boss fights I have ever seen. I would rename him Alt+F4-Dog.
Harbinger is slightly easier than Andariel. Andariel is impossible. I got a row of stacked Pincushions that I can never use to open hordes cause I can’t kill her.
Yes they can. Blizzard needs to learn how to PROPERLY BALANCE both bosses & player classes. A reasonable challenge when it comes to boss fights shouldn’t be that hard to achieve for a competent dev team. Forced boss immunity phases & cheap one-shots are 100% lazy game design. That’s all there is to it.
Hot take bosses shouldn’t be one shot able.
Make them scale with your last pit clear and the rewards as well.
(So if you cleared pit 110 solo belial is stronger but drops loot accordingly)
Then you can just open the chest multiple times according to your pit level. So you’re not killing it 100 times but maybe 10 times.

Like this is how fights are meant to be, they’re fun this way. Bosses just being able to be out scaled to the point they’re one shot is so boring man.
i tried T4 Andariel, omg, the phases feel like the devs’ payback to the community for mocking them.
the 1-shot mechanics are totally ridiculous for 99.9% of players who don’t RMT gear and materials (to farm shako) to max out CDR on evade.
only the 0.01% RMT youtubers keep mocking the devs by saying “boom, easy peasy”.
Diablo 4 is becoming a 100% ARCADE game with all these 1-shot mechanics.
the user interface for allocating paragon base stats feels like a fake, dummy placebo.
Here’s a crazy idea: What if the bosses actually did things in random/different orders.
