After playing PoE2 for hundreds of hrs, i found myself still love D4 and can't wait for S7 & S8

I agree here. While the campaign is grueling to a new player, you can experiment with skills a lot easier than you can in PoE 1. The passives aren’t too noticeable until much later, and if you are focusing on particular passives, whether it’s to increase damage or survivability, you will start to see it gradually helping you in those aspects.

Well aside from armor as people say it’s completely worthless, but you get the point.

The crafting is self explanatory if you read the tooltips, but it’s also heavily reliant on RNG when using certain pieces. To put it into perspective using certain orbs is like hitting the ‘enchant’ button in D4, except I don’t think there are restrictive buckets from what I’ve see in PoE 2.

For example in D4 if you roll a resist on an item, you can’t roll another resist of any type on that item. PoE 2 doesn’t have this restriction. Now it does have items to help you get specific types of affixes, similar to tempering, but it’s also heavily reliant on a currency.

I’d say the RNG to craft an item with the stats you want is more difficult in PoE 2 than in D4 and it’s not even close. Either that or I’m just misunderstanding the system entirely. Can anyone tell me how to get a better chance to see +Spirit on my chest or amulet? :stuck_out_tongue:

My only problem with the crafting is not enough currency drops. Sure, I get plenty of turn white to blue and blue to yellow. Everything else is scarce. The only reason I have really any exalted orbs (adds an affix to yellow) is because I found a single divine orb and traded it on the currency marketplace for almost 100 of them lol.

From what I understand, and I never played the game, is PoE 1 had a currency that could strip an item back to its base but PoE 2 lacks that.

Yes, its really hard to get spirit on an item. I am going through that on my witch. I’ve kinda gotten it all along, so its not as hard as say getting a passive on an amulet in D4, but I’m at an endgame spot where I feel I need more and just am not getting upgrades.

This is my issue. I’m trying to upgrade my chest and amulet, but if it doesn’t have spirit it’s worthless to me.

I’m also trying to be not so reliant on stat gear as well. I hate having to rely on +stat gear to be able to use skills or gear in particular. So I’ve purposefully not upgraded certain skills, or worn certain pieces of gear, because if I change out a piece of gear I’ll be screwed and unable to use that skill or equip that piece of gear.

Yes, in poe1 we have scouring orb turn items back to white. And alteration orb can reoll all mods on blue items, chaos orb reolls all mods on yellow. And we have crafting bench and other league mechanics to do deterministic crafting.

In one of the interviews from a couple of years ago, Johnathan said he does not like how powerful poe 1 deterministic crafting is, he wants people get majority upgrade from loot, so thats why we have current crafting in poe2, not really crafting like poe1, more of a chance to enhance the drops . Runes are more like the crafting bench replacement.

Its early access. You want ppl experimenting and finding new builds and bugs and such. P4wnyhof makes a good comment that it should be free in early access to respec passives. If we were retail it might be ok but we are not retail. ITs costs way too much gold. Respecing can break the bank. Imagine not changing 1 or 2 passives but 80 passives and then ur new idea doesnt work and you need to respec 80 passives again.

Can’t agree with the Op. But then… I did not buy VOH simply cause it was obviously not aimed for classic ARPG experience. I’m loving POE2 even tho it has a long list of issues. Still - I have more trust in GGG to deliver than what I’ve seen of D4 developers in the past year and a half. D4 is in a DIRE state as is.

I thought randomly generated dungeons is a signature of the Diablo franchise but its not in D4. go figure. What’s going on with the dev team?

I think both games can exist together. PoE is for the hardcore player, Diablo 4 is for the more casual one. Doesn’t make one better than the other, they’re just different audiences is all.

They do this because if they add a gold cost later then people would be pissed. I dont really mind if it was free respects but this is the reason why.

Respecing can break the bank if you are stupid with it. I have enough gold that I can do your scenario like 10 times. Gold isn’t really used for much of anything else.

It’s used for vendors, gambling and the currency exchange. I’d venture to say when/if they add an auction house or direct buyout method for items that it’d be the chief regulating mechanism there. If you just made respecs free, it would make balancing this larger gold economy difficult considering that’s a primary gold sink at the moment.

So make a new character then. I know the argument against that, but they need people learning to master running the campaign, too, and not just running it once on a “forever character”. I know from experience that it’s just a different ballgame on your first time through vs your fifth. You get much, much better at it.

Did they say this or u just making stuff up? So instead of maybe making ppl pissed later we will just make them all pissed now???

PPL break their character multiple times and run out of gold and have a huge hill to climb they move to another game and call it quits. You are just handing ppl reason to go to D4. The respec costs are out of control. We need respec orbs to come back. Free full respects on big passive changes. And 0 cost gold to respec on early acccess.

You are not correctly using your gold then. You can gamble items. Play the market. Buy items from npcs.
It should not be used in respec costs in early access. Also where are our free respecs on big passive changes??? Where are the respec orbs that poe 1 had???

This isn’t possible. At least for the D4 and POE 2 community. You must love one and HATE the other. Tribalism at it’s finest.

I enjoy both games though :person_shrugging:

PoE2 is going to be a niche game once S7 comes out. GGG cooked itself by designing it for the 1% of the 1%.

He actually supports blizzard Despite him not spending any more money on it by posting his disaffection for it’s product on it’s Forums instead of…

well … “moving on”. Nothing better to do but post on the forum of the company he dislikes.

Sounds very, “healthy”.
