I think you mean passive tree. Neither game has had a skill tree, only passives. The trees themselves aren’t necessarily the problem as I stated though. It’s all the little things of understanding even what to do in the game once you’ve reached certain points.
Quests only go so far, and navigation through menus or tooltips feels clunky at best. It’s always had the issue of quantity over quality in my opinion. However again it has attracted its own smaller niche of players. Where I would prefer more trimming down of certain things, others enjoy it and may want more. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.
i fail to see how can both games be good for any player.
You either like casual/braindead D4 gameplay which is basically not even an ARPG or you prefer poe gameplay.
Most of the issues that some of you guys mentioned about poe - it’s just you being bad at the game.
It’s just another topic from another “blaster” who allegedly spent hundreds of hours in the game tho somehow without having any basic knowledge, but i am so tired of such topics already that i will just skip checking facts and tell you that reality where 1 player can enjoy both games is basically none-existence, cuz it is completly different games.
We are at a point with 2 games on opposite edges, where most of us is looking for something in the middle. D4 is too simple with no endgame where poe2 mechanics can overwhelme.
I had to read that sentence again, as it didn’t make any logical sense to me either. It’s like saying that people who eat burgers can’t possibly like quesadillas because they’re two different types of foods. I like a variety of games myself, PoE 2 as well as D4. I also love tower defense games, strategy based games, platformer, metroidvania, etc. the list goes on. Now granted I don’t like all video games that might fall under a specific genre, but I’m sure that’s true for most people.
you know GGG will launch new classes, content for PoE2 EA the same day as the season starts, right? I hope you (Blizzard) is ready to compete, because they are.
PoE 2 is in as much competition for D4 as any other game currently on the market or coming out. The notion that either one is going to steal customers away from the other is just illogical for those who own both currently.
Think of it this way, you’re a player that bought D4, you currently dislike the changes they’ve made, and you haven’t played it since S4. Blizzard has already lost you as a future customer for that game, unless some major changes are made obviously.
So you are probably playing other games that appeal more to you. In this sense the other games aren’t in direct competition for a game you don’t plan to return to.
Now let’s assume you like and enjoy D4 currently. A new game comes out you want to play. Now you have direct competition for your time spent in whichever game you choose to play.
If you enjoy both D4 and PoE 2, you have to make a decision on which one you want to play when you have free time. If you dislike one and like the other, there is no competition. See what I’m saying?
D4 won’t change into what some players, who have already made up their minds about the game, want. It’s just not happening. If you haven’t liked the current changes done to the game up to this point (aside from some number tweaking) chances are you won’t like anything else down the road from the same company, unless it does a complete 180.
What I’m saying is Blizzard needs to try a little hard in the competition department. Every time they have a campfire or whatever, GGG basically 1Ups them the same day. I would expect them to do the same on season launches. Obviously 100% of the people aren’t going to cut and run but the gamers who play more than one thing will probably go to the option with the most shiny patch notes.
Oh I agree Blizzard need to step it up, but that’s regardless of what PoE does in my opinion. I’ve always said it wouldn’t be another game that destroys D4, it will quite literally be Blizzard themselves that do it. The lack of communication, the abhorrent bugs present in every major patch, the seemingly lack of focus for the game, etc.
Now GGG does communicate better with the player base, that’s a given. However so do other studios out there. Larian Studios, SquareEnix, Arrowhead Game Studios, etc. the list goes on. It’s not a matter of GGG showing up Blizzard, it’s a matter of Blizzard failing to step up consistently that’s the problem. GGG is just another example of what players want to see out of a video game studio when it comes to communication is all.
Nothing wrong with that. Some people will like one game or the other. Some will like and play both. Some like me like both but would like to see changes in both lol.
The mapping system could definitely use some onboarding but I don’t think it takes a phd to figure it out.
I also dont agree with some of the other things Urza says like respec is too expensive. It was until they cut it almost in half but not now. Other than ascendancy, which I think will probably change, I dont see how you can brick your character in the campaign or really at any point, there is nothing massive or daunting about the crafting system, the passive tree is huge but it isnt a problem, having 9 skills and up to 5 supports per skill is also not a problem.
I do agree with the 1 death per map, xp loss on map death, armor sucks. 1 shots from bosses is only a problem in maps and only because its 1 death per map. Evasion is actually pretty good. PoE 2 does certainly have its own issues and it is not all roses and donuts but I dont agree with everything he says.
Nothing IMO. Its the same game with some witch powers. That doesn’t make the game better or really any different for me. You could say having armory is an improvement but that to me does not make the game better. Especially when interclass balance is pretty bad and the armory doesnt have its own gear storage.
