A Constructive Discussion regarding Item Integrity in the Eternal Realm

The new gear is unfortunately not a ‘1025 or 1225’ item. The 800 level items looks to be the same in many cases the same affix value range as an old 925 item.

Have you tested the PTR yet or is this a discussion based on assumptions about power levels on items going up?

This analogy is quite funny actually! It’s like you sacrificed and prayed to a god and then that god took a dump on you by turning your bronze weapons to sticks and rocks and now the worshipers are considering worshipping a new god that doesn’t trash their weapons randomly and the god plus some of the remaining worshippers just can’t understand why.

Hey, thanks for the experience-based response!

I also tried out the PTR and ran with my Lightning Build Sorcerer using Legacy items. I did end up replacing 1) Shako, 2) my 2H weapon, and 3) Pants with level 800 items (with 1 GA each) while keeping the rest of my gear Legacy.

Interestingly, my 540 Legacy items retained their GAs, which contradicts what Blizzard said would happen. Specifically, my Legacy items retained the GA on Shako for CDR, the GA on my 2H weapon for Critical Strike and Intelligence, the GA on CDR for Fractured Glass and Conjuration Mastery, and the GA on Tal Rasha’s ring for CDR. Not sure how this experience would have been affected if they were nerfed to max-roll. I also upgraded my glyphs to level 50 for 3 out of 5 per board. I didn’t get a chance to test the Runes.

With this setup, I was able to reach Pit 67 in its current iteration, though this is only for the Lightning Spear build, which might be significantly nerfed before the next season. My 540 Legacy items retained their GA affixes, and in the current season, I’ve been able to clear Pit 150 with this character, so the PTR equivalent would be Pit 75.

Based on this limited experience, I’d agree that 750 instead of 540 feels like a fair compromise (especially since the GAs would be lost in the re-roll), assuming the item and enemy powers remain relatively unchanged from the PTR. Then the items might feel more similar to before, giving Eternal players the classic Blizzard expansion experience: re-farm for the best gear to surpass your previous progress. I’m not sure how this holds up for other builds, but for the Lightning build, the jump from 750 to 800 would likely result in the expected “power creep.”

However, this is just one person’s experience with a single overpowered/meta build and doesn’t account for how other builds have been significantly affected by the nerfs to affixes such as movement speed and CDR. It also does not account for Rune words.

this is an ARPG - NOONE is competing here.
get a grip, its no comp shooter
Noone gives a S… about your gear or your copy paste build bro

I’m confused. He said Eternal realm is not competitive. The second part, I disagree. I care about his gear having integrity on the Eternal Realm. And yes, I don’t care about his gear having integrity on the Seasonal Realm.

It’s in the name “eternal” you’re gear and you’re builds shouldn’t need to change. I’m one of the poor fools that plays eternal, I have 7 level 100 builds perfect and humming. I made two more characters just in eternal last month to try some new and fun build ideas. I like eternal cuz it’s supposed to be stable and reliable. I’m now in the forums complaining in the vain hope of saving hundreds upon hundred of hours and effort.

the game has its fundamentals designed around seasons and team play. as such eternal realm and solo playing shouldnt exist as also stated by the streamers. Thank god bliz appreciates our feedback and is now implementing the grouplay filters and the citadel. It will make the game fly again!

Craziest thing I have not seen mentioned is that stat squish isn’t even working as intended. Wudijo released a new video showing him doing billions and billions of damage per hit. Making him on par if not stronger than season 5. There may be another item reset for season 7 to correct this.

By the Mothers blood, you will grind season. heathen!

Stat squishes don’t matter if you have multiplicative glyphs that can be leveled up to 100.

Also, it’s not really a stat squish, affixes might have the same range on ilvl 800 gear but damage and armor values are way, way down. There’s larger balance implications than what you’d find in a stat squish.

Glyphs and paragon seem really strong. They are probably going to get nerfed or readjusted. Yeah you are right. Stat squish won’t matter much due to glyphs. I just find it strange and funny since one of the biggest reasons for a stat squish is to make numbers more readable. Except now we are seeing bigger numbers then season 5.

Seems like the opposite of a stat squish, more designed to seperate the players that put long hours into the game (via rewarding them with billions of damage through glyphs) and the casual players (rewarding them with lower damage numbers since season 5 because of the high requirement of time on glyphs).

More like a stat inflation, but theres probably a better term Im not thinking of.
