For classes like barbarian it completely ruins the class. Damage abilities are far too important for this class. It has terrible survivability and even worse it’s mobility is atrocious. You can get leap for example but why would I do that? Skill slots are so important for barbarians that there is nowhere to put it on my skill bar without ruining my build. I can’t imagine how much worse this will be once we get further down the skill tree.
They need to implement path of exile style or grim dawn style controller support and allow for more skills to be used or make something better I’m sure if anyone is capable of that it is blizzard. They tend to have the smoothest style gameplay.
Grim Dawn: Using the R3 button to change between two different skill bars.
PoE: You can switch between skill slots using LT and RT.

It really does need at least one more slot imo to make it feel far better. Its pretty strict right now to the point it just snuffs out fun and build diversity, because you cant really experiment, you need those few select skills in every build or you die or do garbage dps.

6 skill slots kinda kills 1 point wonders. And makes getting an item with +1 to a 1 point skill that would be useful to have.
Theres simply no space to put such things on your bars. But what can you do, consoles cannot have more skills so this is what PC players get.

You need to use lunge. It’s a game changer for barb mobility. Using anything else is a mistake. You can teleport between mobs and get better position for your big aoe abilities.
It’s also really unbalanced that barbs get a level 1 skill that lets them bounce around.
maybe its 6 so we thank them when it becomes 6+ultimate instead of whining that 7 isnt enough from the beginning.

The 6 skill slots will ruin this game, it’s actually really disappointing.

Doesn’t D3 have 6 slots? I dunno I’m pretty used to being limited.

The D3 talent tree only allows for 6 skills, you literally can’t choose anymore. This game has a massive talent tree with the capability of choosing any thing you want really. With the current design it’s a useless talent tree, and it feels bad having so much customization in the tree but very little on your bars. Bad design

Well when the game is designed to generate as much money as possible first and foremost it wont be good. It’s 6 slots bc of consoles

I agree 6 skills are not enough. I would be happy if they just added 1 more, for the ultimate skill/spell.
EDIT: Well, I’d be happy if they let us use 10+ skills but that will never happen, so just 1 extra for the ultimate is a good compromise.

Yes, they can. L2 shift. Move potion to DPad, LB is a skill slot, Hold L2 for second hotbar. 12 slots. Easy.

I think it boils down to balancing being even more bonkers than it already is if they added more skill slots. Don’t get me wrong if they can actually balance this game then I’m all for it but if not, no thanks. I do like the idea of the ultimate having its own button, that’s a really good idea.

My jaw hit the floor when I got to 25 and even the Ultimate Skill had to replace one of my 1-4 keys

The illusion of choice only to be hamstrung. Limiting to 6 skills = bad game design.

I like that there’s a choice involved where you don’t need to pick up an ultimate. If they add an ultimate slot you’re just 100% gimping yourself to not pick one, but this way it’s a choice.
Having said that, 6 feels way too limiting and kills the potential that +skills items could have. I have a neck that unlocks 10 different skills on its own. Why can’t I use them?

Vicarious Visions w/ D2R already had a good layout to allow 12 easily. This is just the design decision from the dev team. No reason to really put the blame on the consoles when Blizzard could have just lifted the control scheme from 2 to 4

they can add a button to keybind a skill swap for several buttons, so we can swap the skills quickly in combat (like holding shift in wow utilizes one key for muiltiple skills) etc.

Need to just have the health potions auto drink like Hearts of health rather than a potion since the health potion has no cooldown timer like D3… clicking it is stupid and useless!!! this also frees up a button. Blizzard please start focusing on all that is wrong
No.
Its not.
It wont change, that will require literally rebalancimg the entire game, as the use of an additional skill is such a huge bump in power its rediculous.
Know what else had 6 slots and did fine? D3.
Know what had less? D2.
