Diablo 4 viewership tanked when Season 1 started. Once viewers found out Seasons require a brand new character with the entire grind again, they stopped caring.
everyone knew chars were gonna reset with the season. the problem is the game isnt fun enough to grind it up again.

No its not, ow is a watchable game, d4 is a watchable game, wow is watchable etc it depends how good the game is and WHICH people are streaming it - diablo is lacking in both

So, they cite twitch viewership if the number supports their narrative. But, suddenly, when the product has less views than desired, the viewership doesnât matter?

This is going to end up just like D3. 5k peaks because that game was so bad. They tried to copy to much from that awful game and if they just went with D2 style loot none of this would be happening. Such a shame man.
Literally. all we need is good items to chase and people would play. instead they want people to chase high rolls on yellow gear. forget about Grief and Breath of the Dying⌠items that made this franchise legendary

Majority of players knew about the Seasonal Servers. Viewers did not. Not all viewers play the game they are watching. Some of those viewers are there to see how well the game function before commiting to buying it and playing it.
At the same time, one can make the arguement people stopped watching diablo 4 and started playing diablo 4. But we donât have the numbers for player activity before and after Season 1 started.
Itâs not really a good of anything.

It has everything to do with it. If you want to argue that some trend in viewership represents a trend in interest, you have to establish a link between viewership and interest. For esports there is an obvious link. For non-esports there isnât.
