I can be very fast ninja looting, in fact in the beta test I took around 50% of the interesting stuff every time I wanted. And I still want ploot to be added to the game?
Why? because its a fair system and I love to play the game properly, taht includes classes like bow amazon

Pretty sure I understand this very well. I played multiplayer back in the day and got frustrated by the fact that my PC lagged every time baal died for about a second and by the time it stopped lagging everything was gone, every single time. That’s why I stopped playing D2 multiplayer.

Baalruns are not for the loot, they are for the exp gain. Solo is the only way to go when you are mfing and want to run baal, or any other boss, btw.

yes but this is the thing, in a game designed around multiplayer, multiplayer should be a viable option for getting loot, they clearly designed the game to be that way before the community got to toxic for it and everyone decided solo was better even though technically it drops less.

The problem is that some people don’t want to find gear to find better gear, and so on. They want to be carried by people with the gear to kill said bosses and then they can get the loot without having to work their way up to it.

They could not kill the boss solo.

Honestly dude, here is the secret and beauty of D2. It’s a don’t tell don’t ask policy. Just load up on MF and defensive gear… pretend you are doing something all the way to the end… when boss about to die, get in close and just stop doing anything and prepare to click the ground like crazy = win!

If people want to argue against loot allocation or personal loot, they should focus on more substantive arguments than some lame attempt to frame it as though people who want it want something “for free.” That argument is just lame rhetoric that doesn’t even make sense given that the current system is the system in which anybody can run around and grab loot without actually doing anything.

Personally I think loot allocation would be a nice option and encourage people to play in multiplayer for more reasons other than body count. People currently play mutliplayer not to go on some co-op D2 adventure, but purely for the tangible benefit of having more players in the game. There’s a reason in the decades of history of this game that most people only go loot hunting in private games. The loot system in the game is anti-social and always has been. Public games are mostly treated as just being for XP/PvP. Sometimes you’ll have a carry that’s there for a chance at loot with an understanding that they get first dibs if anything useful actually drops (which it usually doesn’t and then the vultures rush in afterwards to grab what they want).

The only other people who actively MF in public games usually don’t even join the group, ignore what the game was actually for and go off on their own. They only joined the game for body count and then leave after they’ve killed whatever they’re farming.

Having said that, some issues with loot allocation would be that in the chaos of an 8 player game in an area where you’re constantly moving, many players may not even see their allocated loot, making the allocation a waste. Other players pass the loot, unable to get it while the intended recipient either did not want it or never noticed it. In order for it to work, there would have to be range limitations (and/or limited duration to the allocation) and preferably a loot filter system that lets you show desirable loot on the map/get a better notification that it dropped.

it’s old fashioned for 2000 already actually, every gaming magazine (the pre internet way to hear what devs had to say about things for those youngins who think reddit and twitter have always existed) that had an interview with blizzard north contained the same line “we designed this game with multiplayer first” and every ad talked about how great this game was going to be with mind boggling 8 player online multiplayer, which tbh was a huge thing at the time and kind of still is not many games go past 4-5 man teams online still. so to say the goal blizzard north intended from the start was to have mfing be a single player activity is just short sighted and ignorant at best.

You are wrong, if you divide the total drops in 8 players, the loot you get per run or per hour is drastically lower than if you run solo. It is a matter of efficiency.

i also want to play coop better than solo, as long as my party isnt flooded with leeches as 90% of the times happens to me, but the game is designed this way and the only way to fix this is by increasing the total loot per run, wich would impact the economy with flooding it with items, wich would kill trading and with killing trading you kill diablo 2

No, that’s not the problem. The problem is that FFA is toxic and forces you to solo for loot. I get all my loot by myself and farm the dang bosses. I would like to have a better MP experience.

Gratz to you. I’ve played a long time and I’ve always seen leeches in public games. It is a problem.

I’ve gotten plenty of gear in public playing as ranged. Also, not all good drops come from act bosses. So it doesn’t force you to play solo. If you have to play solo to get loot then you just aren’t very good or have the worst PC/connection on the planet.

This game is what it is. It’s not rainbows and ponies. It’s meant to be ugly.
