I’ve got many hours on D2 with its current ruleset.
D2R is going to be great and I’m looking forward to it whether they add the loot option or not.
Pretty sure that nobody can complain about an option on game creation one way or the other though.

this, if they think they are catering to a new “audience” they are shooting themself in the foot. There is a reason why d2 is still played by thousands 20 years after the release and there is a reason why d3 has the same player amount as a 20 year old game…
Good games = people stay to play it longer
Bad games = players leave left and right and it dies after 2-3 years.

Thousands of people still play D3 and I would consider that to be a bit of a mess.
D3 came out in 2012 btw

The only pitfall I feel most aren’t accounting for is segmenting the playerbase. It wont bode well when you see half empty games and lobbies cause half the players are in diff loot settings. Needless complication. Existing options exist to get loot for yourself. See my above post.
In fact, I didn’t even mention the most obvious ones.
TALK to other players. See a Pally grab that unique your hunting? MSG him and talk about a trade…
Open up the trade lobby or create a game “WTB XXXX” I promise you it’s not that hard.
If all else fails…I guess you could go and buy it too. I don’t agree with this option but it does exist as a remedy. Like it or not…

I have the feeling most games would be Ploot if there was an option. I would be fine joining FFA or Ploot games depending on what I was doing at the time.
For instance if I’m on my sorc hunting keys or farming a specific boss I can kill in time or ninja looting all the A3 chests for instance then FFA is fine since I’m out on my own. But any time I’m running in a group from A1 normal trist runs to hell baal I would preferer ploot. Given the option that is.

People asking for this in a game made in 99 and not understanding how if even possible they’d implement it is hilarious.
1st of all even if they did randomly assign a # generator on the already hardcoded drop mechanisms … It would be EXTREMELY doubtful they could also have it literally only show for that 1 player, you’d basically have the same drops everywhere and if its someone elses you couldn’t pick it up LMFAO.
They can’t even add a loot filter esq style to hide because that would require all the individual files to be changed upon loading into the game. This alone if even attempted would create juicy dupes/bugs/exploits easily.

Funny! Diablo 3 is the most successful game in the series and is almost 10 years old, receiving updates every 4 months. It’s almost as if you don’t know what you’re talking about…

This. Does anyone HONESTLY think ploot is coming? or even has a fraction of a chance of coming? The D2R devs literally said, “we were very hesitant to even add auto-gold” and yet they are going to revamp the entire loot system? LMAO WHAT? i get people debating in favor of it and saying they have a tiny bit of hope, sure. But the funniest characters on this forum are the ones who are so deluded they actually think ploot and major overhauls are coming because of a survey of a few players.

Personal Loot would ruin the game. Loot is one of the most important aspects of D2.
People who are asking for Personal Loot should just go and play D3.

I really don’t get this point. It’s like saying people shouldn’t be allowed to make Baal Run Only games because half the player base doesn’t like just running Baal all day and it splits the community. I think what’s really happening is script riddled FFA loot gamers just fear no one will want to join their inferior games anymore.

D3 instanced loot has nothing to do with what is being requested here. And if you don’t like the idea, it’s a simple solution for you: Don’t enable the option and play the way the game is now. Easy peasey.

If people want to play that way, they should be able to without worrying about scripters taking all the loot. If you don’t like the idea, then simply don’t join such games.
