ā€œUnknownā€ means you died to an effect iirc. Like standing in the fire ring left from a boulder in Battlefield of Eternity for example. Or I believe any of the ground effects some bosses cast.

Quite certain any ability can be ā€œunknownā€ if the caster dies before it hits you. Have at least been killed by plenty of ā€œunknownā€ arrows and other projectile based attacks.

Idk why, but I just canā€™t imagine anyone would invent a story like that. Itā€™s just too crazy to be made up.

First off, just a heads up Blizz gets real stinky with naming and shaming, so I would delete the clan name out of your posts, so you donā€™t get a forum ban.

As far as your HC death it is interesting because I play a lot of HC every season and have never heard of this. AFAIK, no one can teleport you to town unless you upgraded your legendary gems and someone closed the GR, or they upgraded their gems before you got in there which wonā€™t let you upgrade gems, and they closed the GR. Also, no one can damage you outside of Brawling, and even Brawling in HC wonā€™t allow your character to be permanently killed, so none of their physical skills would have hurt you.

What may have happened is someone might have hit a demon mine or some other effect happened as you teleported in or they may have hit a pylon with nems and you insta-died and were somehow glitched back to town.

It would be nice to have some more information, such as did you hit their banner immediately after the RG died, if so, how long were you in the GR before the death occured, which map was the RG killed in, did you see any pylons around, etc.

why didnt you have a cheat death passive on your HC character, dude. That is the REAL crime. git gud next time.

I DID. It didnā€™t work. Whatever they did bypassed it. Look at my hero. He had it as a passive.
They ended the rift while I was trying to loot, and it forced me back to town.

Well, there is a gem that delays damage taken by you and deals it over time, canā€™t remember the name. Could it be that?

There are absolutely skills that can be cast in town after being in the arena. I have most commonly seen this done with the witch doctor. You can absolutely town kill someone in Act 1. It is related to being in the arena and glitching a skill from there into town.

Did anyone actually look at his profile, cause if you did,
you might of noticed a couple of things.
He just started playing the game, and he is wearing Nemesis bracers, I can
guarantee he hit a Pylon after the guardian was dead, and it spawned then
as he was going through the portal he died in town from the damage.

Who said anything about being in the arena? The OP was talking about being in a GR.

There are times when lack of understanding of something can cause someone to misinterpret the situation. Iā€™m sure there is a word for this.

If what he said is true, I fully agree that the perpetrators should be punished by Blizz. But so far we donā€™t know if heā€™s telling the truth or just his misunderstanding (as theorized, whether he died from his own action, or indeed by other guysā€™ glitch exploit). There mustā€™ve been other conversation that went on, no? Whereā€™s the screenshot and other stuff?

Either way, using the forum to call them specifically out is against the forum rule, OP. Name and shame thingy. In your view, you might be telling the truth, but we donā€™t know and it could not be the case. By then itā€™s just slander, you see. You should report them in-game.

There are many questions without answers.

If this is possible as described, then it needs to be reported as a bug at best and an exploit at worst, one which will spread if others realize how to abuse it, eventually potentially destroying the group dynamic of HC play for some, resulting in blah blah blah blah.

If it is not possible, congrats. Youā€™ve got a good story to tell, and did. And blah blah blah.
