Season ending with short notice?

Lol wow - their next communication is going to just be the cookie cutter seasonal transition in a few weeks, isn’t it? No follow-up this entire week is just inexcusable, legacy game or not.

What are you on about now?

Yes I did. I lost progress, time and effort. Which I’m now repeating to get back to where I was.

No, I did not. Nor am I. I didn’t take a character that had X amount of points, add a ton more points then abuse that by trying to take spots on the leaderboards that I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to.

I didn’t want to use one of my personal 3 limit of rollbacks to fix THEIR mistake.

So where do you get off claiming ANY of that about me? ESPECIALLY insinuating that I would be trying to exploit anything???

You have been doing nothing but posting angry ranting posts for the past 4 days. Its getting old.

If I didn’t know better, it almost sounds like you are mad because you didn’t get to experience life with a borked season redo and since you couldn’t, you want no one else to.

Classy.

You are not to blame for the mistakes, plural, blizz has made here. If anything, you should be lauded and protected. Held blameless. You’re a reporter, or a witness, or whatever you want to call it. Concerned citizen. Etc.

  • BLIZZ dropped the ball approximately 6 months ago, when they decided “hey let’s pre-program season starts and ends.” THAT’s the point of origin for this.
  • BLIZZ then decided “hey we don’t want D3’s season to compete, attention-wise, with D4’s expac launch.” So they MANUALLY messed with what was supposed to be a PRE-programmed thing. And they did it poorly. 2nd mistake.
  • BLIZZ then neglected to do the same thing to season announcements. So we have AUTOMATIC start/stop but NO automatic updates telling us WHEN those are. 3rd mistake.
  • BLIZZ then didn’t respond in a timely manner when MULTIPLE people started going ballistic asking them for clarification. Yes, you were the spark, but the tinder was laid by Blizz in those 3 prior mistakes. And then they were lethargic in their response time. 4th mistake.
  • BLIZZ then said “oopsie, we’ll stop it” and didn’t stop it. NA went out even though they said it wouldn’t. 5th mistake.
  • BLIZZ then said “don’t worry, we’re bringing seasons back” and then DIDN’T warn people not to log in and DIDN’T make it clear how the process was going to work. 6th mistake.
  • BLIZZ has now been 100% radio silent in spite of 3rd party news agencies (albeit “gamerant” esque in quality) picking up the story. 7th mistake.

It’s all Blizz’s fault. 7 mistakes and counting.

EDIT: I’ll add to this, that I’m 100% unaffected by this. I waited until yesterday to even log in at all. Well after the dust had settled. I’m 100% fine. Everything is exactly as it should have been. I’m missing nothing, nothing got merged. It’s all fine.

I’m still royally pissed at this. It’s not about me. It’s about the principle. And we’ve been hearing it, hearing it, hearing it, kinda sorta memeing it, “blizz doesn’t care,” yadda yadda. THIS was my eye opener.

THIS could easily HAVE been me. It just by random luck, wasn’t.

I’m upset and I deserve better. WE deserve better. And I feel like it’s well past the apology phase for this. I am not placated by empty words. We’ve had that for 12 years.

Enough.

If one single action is worth one thousand words, well… never accuse me of being inefficient.

I’m done.

Yes, this mess is all Blizzards fault. The more worring question is, did they even know the consequences or are there no people left who have deeper knowledge of D3 code and mechanics. I think this is the real issue, that they don’t know what they need to do.

Not my problem.

I’m one person, for whatever it’s worth. I’m not saying it’s worth much. But it’s worth a non-zero amount of money and goodwill from times past, and would have been worth that in the future, that they no longer have.

This kinda reminds me of when they’d release a new call of duty game and then within a week the old one would be unplayable due to hackers and mod lobbies and Blizz/Activision just shrugs it off and keeps advertising for the new one

Question: If I still have negative paragon on some Blizz-restored season 33 chars/accounts (and no new paragon gained since the restore)…

…do you think it will make a difference whether I’ll ‘reset’ all the s33 paragon points before the next s33 end, or whether I’ll leave it as is (previously assigned paragon points in place with negative adjustment points of the same value for each tab)?

In theory, it should add 0 points to non-season when converted on 19-Jan, either way… right?

Cheers.

/edit Doh… just realized what gets transferred is the exp, not paragon points anyway… and that shows as 0 on those chars that haven’t been played after season restore. So… transfer value is still zero, so should be fine and makes no difference either way.

As you later mentioned experience wise, it makes no difference.

However, resetting the points will remove any power you have from those assigned points immediately while in this season redo.

I did not reset, so that I still had the 1175 paragon worth of points still active. Otherwise it would have been as if I did a fresh season start.

There are some though that managed to not only get the power from their seasonal efforts, but even had the points allocated from their non-seasonal paragon. Thus they have even more power than they did during the season.

And even fewer of these have been taking advantage of that power and pulling shenanigans with the leaderboards.

But ultimately, you can do what you feel like with regards to resetting or not resetting. But I would caution anyone that thinks its a good idea to use non-season paragon point power to try to claim to spots on the leaderboard. It may be frowned upon by Blizzard, if they even care about it anymore.

But the good news is, as you play you earn more experience, and that experience will transfer over at the end of the season again. Take mine:

I’m currently back over 900 paragon (was 1175 before the blip) and that 900+ worth of Paragon experience will transfer to non-season when this ends in a week or so.

But MAKE SURE that anyone that hasn’t collected their in-game mail from the early end of the season collects that mail before then! Otherwise they may lose those items when they end it again!

I just tried creating a new character for the fourth time. It switches from seasonal to non-seasonal after creation and I can’t login.

What platform?

Those on Console have issues still.

Switch, I think they’ve just given up on console players until next season. I just hope it clears up with the new season.

It should be fine then.

The problem with the consoles is that the data for the seasonal stuff is treated differently.

And its not like the PC versions didn’t have issues with the revert either.

Providing there was no other damage in general to the game’s systems, the next season should operate normally.

Thanks for your tips. I have cleared mail and reset the paragon points, since I won’t play season until s34 on those chars/accounts anyway, so won’t miss the points until then.

/edit: That said, I think I’ll use those accounts for leveling practice, with Darkening of Tristram. When else do you get a genuinely fresh/empty season to do that? Silver linings…

/edit 2: typo… sigh

Dear community manager, a large number of players did not receive item mails after the official end of Season 33. The only demand for players now is to receive item mails, players can give up paragon and other materials etc.
Blizzard don’t need to roll back all players to the end of S33 on January 19th, just send the item mails in the season stash to the players.
Solved the players’ demands, this is a win-win situation, and resolved this accident.

I think we’ll just be left with excuses.

16 days now, have you heard back?
