Did you play D3? Enough reason exists.
But just verify my point, Only women are warriors. I never said men do not exist. Obviously they exist, otherwise how do they reproduced?
Obviously you can make a lore to check boxes of what you want. But the correct approach to writing is to have characters fitting into the story you want, not story fitting the characters you want. Creativity & reach of story is compromised if you do that.
If pirate characters exist in a lore/story, it should be because its part of the story i want to tell. It shouldnât be I want pirates, now how should I bend my story to fit them.
I have played all Diablo games since day one.
And when I say all, I mean all.
P.S.(Diablo Immortal does count in them)
Thet it should be pretty obvious.
Correct. Amazons could have budded like Warhammer Orcs/Orks.
I mean, you kind of have to do both. For example, if there are pirates, then you should be able to explain why there are pirates in the first place, especially if theyâre integral to story.
I think you are missing my point.
The point is if you force something unnatural, you will compromised story, charter, culture, group etc
As an example. The Amazon. What makes them unique is they are a group/culture of only female warriors. If men can be Amazon, the charm of Amazon will be compromised.
Except it wouldnât be unnatural when one considers the events that the group went through. Near genocide. Something like that would be great enough to affect the culture and lifestyle of any people. Now once again, it would be something else entirely if the lore had establish that only their women can use their abilities, hence why the warriors are only females. But until thatâs the case, Iâd see nothing wrong with the story if it also included men as warriors for the Askari people.
NO ONE saying you cannot write that to allow Amazon having male warriors
If you look at Gears of war 3. The population is near extinct, so every abled man and woman need to fight, hence we have the females gears.
It make sense, but also importantly, it was due to plot reason, not because they wanted to checked âstrong female charactersâ checkbox.
Never played gears of war 3, so I canât say much regarding it. However, Iâm not sure what youâre talking about regarding checkboxâŚ
Females become soldiers in Gears 3 is due to circumstances. Every abled adult must fight.
Anya, a desk officer being force to fight the front line enforce the desperation and hence its natural.
Its not because some higher-up deciding they want female representation so they wrap a story to explain.
Okay, but where do you see me saying that there need to be male askari warriors simply for a male representation? I only said that with the near genocide that took place in D3 RoS, the event would be more than enough reason for the Amazons to decide that they would need all of their people fighting, not just their women. I wouldnât be saying anything if the lore established that the Askari men couldnât fight and/or use the abilities. The story is already there⌠so yeah, Iâm honestly not sure what youâre even trying to convey. My apologies.
It wasnât directed to you. I am just giving an example. Which is aviod creating something just to check some boxes, rather because it make sense & integrated into part of the story.
cheers
Then again, I must apologize, I mistook it as such.
How can you tell that it wasnât the latter? Seems quite likely it was that, and the explanation was made afterward.
In any case, yeah, there isnt much reason to change unique archetypes, cultures etc. in a story, just to fit some MTX demands from Bobby & Co.
That demand can be met regardless. Like, Amazons in D4 could have the D2 and the D2R Amazons as different versions of Amazons to choose between, as well as other designs as well. No story would need to be added or altered, while offering players more or less the same customization.
Honestly Iâm not sure how change wouldnât happen for Amazons after the events of D3 RoS.
Well we canât call them Amazons anymore, if there will be males among them. Because the name Amazon, merged with the only female warriors definition.
They certainly could still be called Amazonâs. The writers just shouldnât forget the previous lore.
If Diablo 4 had wanted to be more story focused they could even make the whole thing a big part of the Amazons story, like parts of the Amazons might be against allowing men to fight, or other cultures might be hesitant to work with a male Amazon since centuries of myths had described them as weak, causing different reactions to your character based on the gender chosen.
I wouldnât argue with that. Honestly, I would expect that if they did bring the Amazon back.
