If seasons are only 3 months it won’t matter, 99% of players won’t have an Enigma

No? Seasons are usually dead after 1-2 months anyway.
Not with Diablo 2, people was playing it constantly. I was playing ladder everyday in years. People was always playing it, because you could do much things out of it.

People play non-ladder too, doesn’t mean it isn’t dead. 2 months in to the reset there is only a small fraction of people left usually.
And 2 months is plenty of time to make a self-found enigma if you know what you’re doing, not to mention that with large influx of population d2r would bring, trading would be 10 times easier.

I suggest you to play classic or diablo 3 if you don’t want enigma.
It’s the key item of diablo 2, it will ruin 99% of the game.
PvP will be a disaster.

I think people have a common misconception about the term “to ruin”, they seem to use it for everything in an arbitrary measure for things that would most definitely affect but not necessarily destroy the core gameplay.
The game would still work and people would still play the game without Enigma, just like they play classic D2 to this day, it would not “ruin” anything, but chance things people currently do in LoD. Tha’s all.

Let’s try apply this logic to bots and dupes as well, shall we.
So your simple fix is: As long as I don’t bot, dupe and cheat, no one else will and the problem wont exist. I will finally be able to enjoy battle net multiplayer without these things impacting the overall experience.

all wrong , a lot of player stop playing not long time after patch 1,10 come out
all the player i know stop playing also in the same time diablo 2 drop a lot is player base leave the game ,
and after so many bot take control of the game kill the game economie and trade channel trade game ect,so many aspect of the game die after
2021 diablo 2 are run with bot using enigma and player stay afk leeching the bot exp
