Where did they confirm they are launching with 5?

I honestly thought they were stopping at 3 prior to any DLC.

Both on the D4 website, and here, in the feature overview: ‘At launch, Diablo IV will have five unique character classes’

https://us.diablo3.com/en/blog/23189677/diablo-iv-feature-overview-11-2-2019

A PROPER Necromancer.

Witch-Doctor type summoning skills
with the Necromancer aesthetic.

The ‘Command Skeletons/Golem’ things were nice. Those things can be kept
but the Revives/Skeletal Mage kinda ruined the feel of the gameplay for me in D3.

Noticed a few people mention the issue with Necromancers because of the Lore for D4. Also saw people mention Warlocks.
Warlocks could deal more with the Ghostly Veil between this world and the next.
Pets: Wraiths and other spiritual beings (NOT bone minions, Zombies etc.)
Curses: <— what this says. but even if not the same name then something with debuffs.
Ghostly Attacks: So could make everything not a pet or curse, some kind of ghostly image in nature. So like a basic attack could be like a barrage of spirits. (Spirit Barrage Witch Doctor) Or a Ghostly Wail (Summon a ghost in front of the caster and it lets out a loud Wail, pushing enemies back or stunning them or something.)
But you could make this like a character somewhere between the Witch Doctor and Necromancer.

Idk, I guess we will see what they choose.

I’m really hoping for the Crusader in the initial release. Diablo isn’t Diablo without a knight-like class. I love the more defensive, tanky playstyle of Crusader and the lore we have for them from RoS. In comparison, I felt the Paladin from D2 was very bland and their order was disbanded after Mephisto’s corruption of the church. I hope they don’t bring back the Paladin because of nostalgia when it doesn’t make sense to do so.

I can see them incorporating The Templar as a playable class to fill the void as an alternative, but really, why not continue an already good story they’ve started with the Crusader? With the Cult of the Triune being back in action and the return of the big 3 seemingly inevitable, it would be the perfect opportunity for Crusaders to confront past woes and ensure history doesn’t repeat itself. Paladin’s failed to stop Mephisto’s corruption, but Crusaders may yet succeed in stopping his reemergence and/or halt his daughter if she does turn out to be an antagonist in the game.

I’m sure of the remaining two open spots for D4 at least one of them will be a ranged class. With as popular as the Demon Hunter is, I can’t see them excluding them. That said, the Javazon absolutely needs to make a welcomed return if not in D4, than hopefully in an expansion as we get more access to the world of Sanctuary and specifically the Skovos Isles where the Amazons originate. I hope the initial game succeeds wildly and we eventually get the entire map opened up to us in future expansions.

The range class is almost certain. Unclear whether it will be more like Dh or Amazon. Dh make more sense as it’s not gender locked but then again is Druid gender locked? But then again, the regions of sanctuary seems to be more racial diverse, male Amazon doesn’t seem far fetch. Could looks like spartan from 300 or the assassin creed game.

The last class is a bit of a ???

It could be a summon class like Necro, witch doctor or a healer/holy/Buffy class like Cruz and Paladin, given that this game is more group focus.

6 chars at launch would have cover all the base class of arpg.

Then they could add monk or original class in expansion 6 months or so down the line.

Also, during Rhykker’s stream, Lead Systems Developer, David Kim, said there will be 5 Classes on release. But, he could not discuss which ones the other 2 would be. Possibly because it hasn’t been decided yet.

He did imply that they would be watching to see what Classes are most requested. If I remember correctly, he told Rhykker to have players post their requests on his Twitter account.

Rhykker’s stream is currently on his YouTube Channel. You can watch it yourself if you want more information. David Kim joins Rhykker at 00:47:10 into the video. He talks about requests for the other 2 Classes near the end of the video.

I would love to see the necromancer and amazon.

It would be cool to see a paladin or warrior (D1) class also.

Probably Monk and Amazon for me as the extra 2 classes, since they said there would be 5 classes on release.

Barbarian - Melee Physical, Brute Force
Sorceress - Range Magic, Elemental
Druid - Melee Magic, Hybrid

So what left should be( higher priority -> lower priority ):
Range Physical, Agile - Rogue/Amazon/Demon Hunter
Summoner, Buff and debuff - Necromancer/Witch Doctor

For the next 2 classes I would like to see demon hunter, and paladin or cleric (which is basically pally monk hybrid, in theory). First expansion class should be necromancer.

Be cool to see a new class besides all the repeats they have. Didn`t like druid in d2 they cower way to much, sorc was ok but got boring fast,Pally was best imo, necro was a lagger, had to leave game when one entered, assasin cool sound effects but weak,ww barb good. java zon was ok. If I was gona make a new char it would be half horse half man with a trident. Horns for tearing flesh

You guys asking for things like the Pally or Amazon might as well forget it. They didn’t announce three returning classes out of five and then plan to bring back two more as well. They’ll undoubtedly use those last two slots for new classes instead.
That’s not to say the new classes couldn’t fill those same roles, though. I feel like putting a pure holy class in like the Paladin is unlikely given the dark nature of the story and particularly the way that Heaven is apparently “closed” (whatever that means) at this point. Any holy user is going to be some kind of anti-hero type that better reflects the grim setting. I could see something similar to the Necro (in flavor, not play-style) instead.
The classes we have so far are Barb: pure melee, Sorc: pure ranged/magic, and Druid, a mid-range natural caster/melee with pet abilities. I think the melee is pretty covered, so I’d expect to see a second ranged attacker similar to the Amazon/Demon Hunter, but again something completely new at least in flavor. The last slot I would expect to be some type of dark magic wielder that doesn’t overlap too much with either the Sorc or Druid.
With a world as filled-out as Diablo’s, I’m sure they can find or invent a couple of new classes easily enough. It’d be cool to see something a little more supernatural in nature as well, such as a Fallen Angel or a Reformed Demon, rather than just different types of humans, but that’s probably less likely.

Half Undead Cleric.

He blessed only half his body before contaminating himself with the plague of the dead and kept consciousness, or part of it.

It heals allies, but can also heal enemies, it will depend on the mood of the player. And he can also utilize a zombie’s abilities such as slow walking, being slow, and dying if he uses healing on himself.

I think it would be a good one, but it needs some tweaking.

Amazon / Assassin
Necro
