This game speaks itself but… Same humans creating, playing, loving this game might make terrible yet evitable mistakes. Let’s avoid.
I have been playing Diablo since 1997 and Diablo 2 is the best game i have ever played. So, resurrecting such an important game requires some skill, awareness and, above all, sensitivity.
Writing things below just after checking the game’s dedicated website. Also i will be updating it.
Dear Devs, i know you will delete my posts as you did in the past but this time is different. Please do this right. This game is of utmost importance.
- From the video: Town portal visuals are not same with the one in the original and look ugly. The bright outer ring used to be thicker. You also have the original game. You can compare such things.
- From the video: Claw vipers are not looking like “original” claw vipers.
- From the video: Mephisto and Diablo visuals are very fleshy (poeish). Especially Diablo of the second game is a bony, scaly demon and does not stand that tall on his feet and legs.
- From the video: From epic wings of Tyrael to fishbone in the back of Tyrael.
- From the video: Druid’s Hurricane does not release lightning tendrils by any means.
- From the video: I do not know the technical term for it but there is a general verticality/elongation problem in the visuals.
- From the video: Fuzzy/blurry/foggy visuals everywhere.
- From the video: Check the original Fire Nova of Diablo from the original game.
- From a gameplay video: Throwing axe’s (one sold for 480 gold) design is different than the current one. Tome’s are looking terrible. Are they transparent?
- From a gameplay video: Character movements are jumpy and the angle between character’s body and the ground is too narrow. Looking like they are about to lean.
- From a gameplay video: Something is wrong with Necromancer’s in-game design and movements and everything about him.
- From a gameplay video: Normally, tabs appearing when you press “C” and “I” cover the whole screen. Same goes for “C” and “O”, and “T” and “C”. They “cover” the screen.
- From a gameplay video: Detailed stats screen. Simple logic runs here. Do not turn this game into a number monster. We want action and adventure not maths class.
- From a gameplay video: Where is the handy character roster? Who did put that egocentric character screen there?
- From the site: Last of Diablo II Resurrected features you mentioned is “… and much more!” We do not want anything more or less of its original. That statement is horrifying me. Do not even think adding nonsense things like nephalem/greater rifts or mythic"+" dungeons. Never!
- From the site: Resurrected Graphics - Tristram. Fire animation in the original visual tells that we are late. How? Because they are about to extinguish. In the Resurrected fires are quite fresh. Consider this.
- From the site: Resurrected Graphics - Barracks. See the original lighting and make lessons from it.
- From the site: Resurrected Graphics - Barracks. Death of shaman on the top left is comedical and not in accordance with that in original one.
- From the site: Resurrected Graphics - Burial Grounds. Mists?
- From the site: Resurrected Graphics - Lut Gholein. Mists again?
- From the site: Resurrected Graphics - Sewers. Where is the “stagger” or “hit locked” motion when you are hit or have low faster hit recovery values?
- THE WORST PART! From the site: Classes. Amazon - Is this a female character? Let’s ask in a different way. Was not Amazon in the original game a female character? Assassin - Is this a female character? Let’s ask in a different way again. Was not Assassin in the original game a female character? Necromancer - Looks like a bored old man not a hero. Barbarian - Big no. He stands in the middle with his animation and there is a reason for that. Think. Paladin - Paladin in the original game is not angry, and he is younger. Sorceress - This one is ok. Druid - Hair stylists in the Diablo 2?
- From the site: Inventory/stash interface. What happened to those beautiful side/frame ornamentations?
- From the site: Pay attention to Fara’s hair and age (she looks more mature).
- Never implement cursed things like cooldowns (there is casting delay for certain skills like Druid’s Hurricane, Amazon’s (talking about proper and beautiful one) Valkyrie), single potions with cooldown.
- Never bring these “nerfs from dusk 'till down”. Currently, original game is in a good shape. And that never ending nerfs are killing todays (arpg) games. Do not kill this game, too.
- From the forums:
- Increase drop chance. No!
- Give unlimited stat/skill point reset opportunity. No!
- Change endgame feel/events for single or bnet player (including ladders) - No!
- Remove Baal runs. No!
- Consider the garbages like median xl, plugy etc before you release the game. NO! Never do that. These mods could not have existed without this fantastic game and mods cannot be over the original (at least in case of Diablo 2 (LoD) games).
- *Charm inventory. No! Combined with the item above: The mods allowing you to use nonexistent properties in the original game are here, because first “the game” was there. If you bring features generated by these mods to the Resurrected, people thank to the mods but never appreciate the original game. After seeing these features (coming from mods) in Resurrected, they mutter about the actual game by saying these features were not present before and playing it was a torture. I think this is a huge and direct threat to the prestige of the original game.
- Endless Cow Level. No!
- Allow map hack. No!
- Bring auction house. No!
- Go just online. No! Include all possible gaming mods (Single Player, Other Multiplayer, BNet, Online etc.) Do not force people to play it just online.
- Remove the use of “Alt” key to see loot. No!
- Bring the qwer (1, 2, 3, 4) - left-right click configurations. No!
- Bring Kanai’s Cube like features to Horadric Cube. No! No!
- Enable character editors. No!
- White lightning effects. Yes! One of the, very few, qualified mentions. There is no need to pour a dictionaryful of words here for that. Open the original game, observe and do the same.
- Play games on immunities. No!
- Personal loot. Community well-being can be sought and may improve the experience. I am in between “No!” and neutral. It is absent in the original game. “No!” is good here.
- Add extra acts. No!
*Charm inventory etc.: Let’s add extra 4 slots dedicated to Horadric Cube. Let’s add slots for tomes. Let’s add slots for keys. Let’s add slots for arrows and bolts. Let’s add 33 slots for runes, each stacking up to “whoever’s liking”. Let’s add slots for potions… No!
You, Path of Exilized the Diablo 4 visuals and your other games’ playstyle. I do not care to some extend. But this one is different and important. DO THIS RIGHT! And be sure about that if you bring these flaws to the Resurrected, i will immediately uninstall it and go on playing the original one.
And one last thing. I do not trust you. I do not think you understand the importance of this. You did this to us: Your core players.
Trend-lover repellent: Those will surely ask for higher drop chances, larger and specific inventory (for charms, runes), character balances, unlimited stat/skill point reset opportunity and more. Devs! Do not change even a simple single thing in the game. Just visuals and small other things (shared inventory etc.). This game should be preserved as it has always been and away from the trend-lovers’ mayhem. Otherwise, we will not be able to say “this game”.
I expect an answer including views of Devs upon the views above.
For those who do not know a thing about the actual Diablo 2 (LoD) game: Open a search engine -> Type “Arreat Summit” (and “Diablo” if necessary) -> Navigate throughout the site.
