New Trailer - Same Models

The priority argument seems bad IMO. Why was it a priority to change them in the first place? To change the look of the character models they needed to have an artist give a few options, have them approved before they were added in as the character models. That was the unnecessary work in the first place. Why they felt they needed to change the character models that much in the first place.

Ignoring the Amazon, the Druid’s whole look was change to match the idea of the D4 Druid. Of all the changes they did make: Asian assassin, Latina sorc, Central African pally…the only thing we are still asking for is to make them younger.

The “priority argument” is nonsense, and here is why:

I have been consistent with my argument, that I’d like the intent and art of Blizzard North to be respected, preserved and faithfully recreated;
as well as, that said art should not be replaced for marketing and/or possibly ideological reasons.

The opposition came up with all manner of nonsense throughout the thread, including all manner of accusations… which I dismissed, continuously proved my points…
I explained where some of the inspirations for the game came from…
I found actual clarification on what exactly the devs wanted in the game to begin with…

And now that all those paths have been exhausted, they are only now changing their tune to “priorities! spell effects!”…
If that’s what they really believed, they would have brought it up at the very start. They did not!

They are not intellectually honest. If anything, they are doing this to spite the long time fans of the series… and because they see racism and sexism everywhere, even where there isn’t any…

That is pointedly untrue, because a lot of people in this thread are asking for the Pally, Assassin and Sorc to have their new racial traits removed. In some cases SPECIFICALLY the Assassin, as if her being Asian was somehow offensive or out of place.

Which is hella racist and purposeless.

There are more opinions at play here than just “oh we want them younger”. Some people have disingenuously bad takes, and they must be argued against.

Like ElobaCarcen up there.

Knowing Blizzard, if they do change the model they will make her look absolutely ditzy and over the top with proportions. This is how the unicorn level was made in Diablo 3. It was a response to the criticism about Diablo 3 not looking dark enough.

I did not know you could dismiss opinions.

Yes, all points are exhausted (yours included). Hence we are finally moving on. That is a good thing.
When you are moving on, you are changing the tune, that is usually a big part of it.

Complaining that a black character based on a black character design from a black character designer is black certainly has a touch of racism. (see A bunch of art from the Diablo 2 character artists)

Just as an example. But as you said, let’s not revisit already exhausted points.

I said I dismissed accusations. Opinions can be wrong.
And there are certainly people, who keep their opinions regardless of what their told.
You know what that reminds me of? Actual racists…

My points haven’t been exhausted. They stand. Whether Blizzard and VV decides to take them into account and act accordingly is up to them.

Lol… that’s not at all what happened. If you were discussing the things honestly, you would have put your cards on the table, not changing the tune from one nonsense to the next.

OK, but I did not complain about the paladin being black. If I’ve mentioned something, it’s probably, that the hair on the new model looked ridiculous… almost like a parody of the original model.

Feel free to criticize, but also be specific…

That’s rich, coming from you.

If anything, you and others in this thread have been proven to be arguing in bad faith throughout the thread.
Several comments of yours, now deleted by the mods were full of accusations without you actually knowing me.

Feel free to argue against me all you like, but I would appreciate some actual honesty.

So you are saying all other points are exhausted?
For example:

  • people actually liking the new models better
  • Making the game more accessable for new players
  • Representing the player base
  • giving artists more freedom in defining the characters
  • staying closer to the original artwork (in some cases)

Can you give me the link to were these points stopped standing?

That guy was me.
I also gave you a helping hand when you were digging your hole for the core of the earth.

Btw i appealed that deletion and got an excuse from the mods as it was not against the ToC.

It is quite clear that some people here prefer to flag a post they disagree with than to argue on the point. Its the job of mods to sort what is justified and what is not. In my case, it seems to have not been justified.

This is what i wrote in reply to you asking whether he was sane:

As far as i know the shooter claimed to have a sex-addiction and not be able to pass an asian beauty salon without having to kill 8 perfectly healthy human beings.
Is he sane? I’ll let you judge that.

So i didnt ask you for your take on it. I asked you to draw your own conclusions.

Why are you in this thread?

We don’t know that… if anything, the threads and posts in favor of faithful recreation of the models seem to be well liked… with the exception of few people blindly throwing random accusations.

How are the new character models making the game “more accessible to new players”?

Characters in Diablo are not meant to “represent” you.
From lore stand point, they are people you can play with in one game and fight against in the next. Simple example: The Warrior, who later we learn was called Aiden, who became the Dark Wanderer.
The Rogue… if I’m not mistaking, she’s Blood Raven.

You mean giving the VV artists the freedom to re-define characters created by Blizzard North…
Again, can you not see for a second from the position of a long time fan of Diablo and Blizzard North and why such a thing would be a slap in the face of both the original artists, and players, who played those characters for the last 2 decades?

False.
We already known the original art. We’ve seen it in the game.
What you mean is a sketch drawing, which didn’t match the original design goal Brevik, Max and Erich Schaefer wanted.

Yeah, what a thing to endorse to have a character retroactively changed… way to stick it to the fathers of Diablo one more time…

Mostly to watch, enjoy and/or set off the fireworks.

But also because some people have incredibly offensive takes and it’s worth pointing them out.

You could know it by reading the posts. For example mine, where i stated that i really like the amazon model.
It’s called an opinion. Many have voiced theirs. Some for, some against. Not all posts are about you and the accusations you claim for yourself.

By giving more players from different backgrounds a character to identify with. It has been said before. It is also quite easy to understand, so why do we need to even discuss this? It is very easy to relate to. Just put yourself in somebody elses shoes.

That is again your opinion.
My opinion is that it would be nice if they did.
Again opinion vs. opinion. Not exhausted. Both points stand.

I can. I also can see the perspective of other people. Who have a different opinion.
Both positions stand.

Not false (in some cases, it might not apply, in others it does). See the link i posted.

They have done nothing but keep ignoring the people with different opinions than them.

Half of the people in this thread, and in the old thread, were saying they were fine with the new models, or that they did not care.

But nah, we don’t exist, lol.

Nevermind how transparent it is that they have ulterior motives for wanting the models changed.

I legitimately hope that this happens. But make her even older, and grey her hair too.

It would be hilarious to have all characters end up on deckards age and deckard being a surfer dude.

But we all know that it would just put oil into the fire and that we would need to leave our moral highground. Not worth it, if you ask me.
In 3 months we will all be fighting Diablo and not each other anymore. And since the Java is so strong, many will also pick the java, despite their agreement with the model.
Afterall, we care about gameplay.

I can understand people who think aesthetic is important (and it is, to some degree), but to make this big a mess over faces and models you will barely ever be looking at…

You could download mods to fix them, I’m sure some people will make mods for that.

Gameplay is what should matter.

I think this is what I do not get. I understand claiming that it differs aesthetically, but D2 is an isometric view. You will not see this level of detail 99% of the time when playing D2R.

Right? When they put the new trailer out, it was in 2K resolution (which is higher than what the average person will be playing at). Even at 2K resolution, people were having trouble figuring out if the models got changed or not.

That’s how little it matters.

If you can’t even spot the change at 2K resolution, is it really that big a deal? Like, geez.

Wont get into it again. You had your chance.
Hopefully it will dawn on you eventually what i meant.

Actually i said specifically that you were far off from these people. Just to prevent that argument from your side. But yeah. Here it is.
Let’s not continue.

Exactly. And your opinion is that lore dictates how the characters need to be done to the ‘T’.
My opinion is that the characters are supposed to give you a “feeling” for the character. And i am fine with the artist taking liberties.
Two opinions. Both stand.

Personally I find this new look ugly👀 And I really hope Blizzard/Buzzard loses out big time because of this decision, They might as well made them all monsters than this trash look
