Mythics should be the ONLY BoA

I feel I should post this in my own thread because I strongly feel this should be the way trading works as it meets both philosophical standards of game integrity, endgame power purity and open exchange market.

Mythics should be the only BoA.

  1. Items that are always tradable
  2. Items that can be traded once
  3. Items that can’t be traded (only Mythic)

I think it should be like this. This forces the very endgame grind to be real. All other drops can always be traded, but it’s VERY important that the quality of the legendaries be balanced in a way that the droprate is low (~once per week, or 20-30 hours), but the quality is always good. That insures that everyone has a good chance of getting a good drop no matter what, thus trading becomes more of a medium of exchange rather than straight up purchasing power.

I discuss this in further detail in my other post:
Please no more USELESS legendaries

Mythic is basically their new term for “Primal” most likely LOL!

I think they should scrap their current “WoW inspired” itemization and start over with something more meaningful like in Diablo 2.

More or less, but I very much like the mechanic of the 1-slot only item. I think it could be even better than Primals, since you can only equip one, and it could potentially offer a whole new gameplay design as I describe in my other post:

Mythics are legendary with 4 legendary mods so totally different.

As for this topic. I’m completely against untradeable items. There is no reason to have them.

And I love that about Mythics.

There’s a part of me that agrees with you. However, I’m compromising with Blizzard’s stance on the effect of Real-World Trading, black markets and buying power. I think there’s room for Mythics to be personalized to the build you like using the most, but must be obtained by yourself.

Of course, if there was the off-chance that they make trading completely free, I would not be opposed to it. That would just give a lot of gamers a job.

Now is when to be as radical as possible while release is really far away. Compromise comes when closer to release.

It is not D3 inspired. It is an overall philosophy they have refined and worked on for years. It started in WoW as far as I can tell.

WoW D3 Comment
Low Crafting mats free trade Acct Bound
High crafting Char Bound Acct Bound
White Gear free trade free trade
Magic Gear free trade (Bind on use) free trade
Magic + Gear free trade (Bind on use) free trade
Elit Raid/Leg 2 hour trade 2 hour trade w/ eligible plyrs

WoW does have the gold AH, but it does not allow trade of the best end game gear. It just makes it easy to trade crafting mats, craft products (cut gems, etc.), consumables, and lower level items (most for transmog).

If you want the best gear, you have to go raid and are subjected to the same 2 hour limit with folks who were in the raid and on the boss kill list.

D3 RoS took inspiration from WoW in that end game items have to be earned and can’t be free traded. D4 is set to continue that with a few adjustments.

Snarky comment: D3 RoS took inspiration from Casino Royale where the best gear can be acquired by collecting mats and gambling for it.

To be fair, we did that in Diablo 2 as well. Gheed got a LOT of my gold. I NEEDED those Frosties.

I would excpect Ancient to not be Tradeable either. Well thats my preference. Anything remotely close to TOP TIER should be BOA

No, primal is just something little better than a legenday item, but Mythic have crazy stats, equivalent of all your equipment in one item. Over 6000 attack and defence points, wtf?

BoA & BoP rules!!! Play the game, not d2jsp.

If ya’ll got a problem with it, find another game to self-monetize.

*Eats Frosties*

A one time trade is more limiting than some are giving it credit and then when you add on top of that how rare mythic items will be, why should this even be an issue at all to just let them be a one time trade item as well.

I mean seriously one trade, thats it, its OFF the market FOREVER and stuck with that person. Just because its uber rare doesn’t mean we HAVE to follow some parallel linear category of open-trading all the way to non-tradable.

If you want the best gear, you have to go raid and are subjected to the same 2 hour limit with folks who were in the raid and on the boss kill list.

You need to understand that trade-hunting is a thing that was fun for many D2 players. It’s just as fun for players who enjoy hunting the trade market as it is for players who do monster hunting. In fact they compliment each other in many ways for the game. Maybe someone is tired of killing monsters for the last 5 hours or just having bad luck for months. Finding that person who has the item they want, and negotiating their items for that item with the other player is a fun social dynamic as well.

The social dynamic of these interactions can be enjoyable for many people. This is beneficial for the overall social environment for the game as well. You need to understand that this was a legitimate fun aspect of D2 but not only that it also provided a break from monster hunting for items.

This whole “if you want the best gear, go kill monsters for it” was NOT in D2. You’re applying external hostile game ideas that were originally foreign to D2. Keep that in the MMO’s, plain and simple.

That’s the problem right there. imho.

Why implement systems from an MMO into an ARPG? This is what blows my mind. Why do people conflate having open trade to just giving away free loot and/or real money trades? Do people actually enjoy having to vendor amazing items that isn’t useful for their class/build just because it’s soulbound? Or would you be more excited to be able to trade that item to someone that actually wants it in return for an item you want? An amazing item should always feel like an amazing item, and have high value, no matter who finds it. This is Diablo, not World of Warcraft.

Well… wherever it came from, it’s TERRIBLE.

Not everybody wants to d2jsp. People want to be able to trade freely with friends etc. I play Slash Diablo, that doesn’t allow d2jsp, and it uses runes as currency. Stop acting like people wanting to make money off of D4 is the only reason why they want open trading.
