White ring ruined real pvp is what i’m saying. Find any contradictions there? Was i clear enough? I still pvp’d at this time, but just not a whole lot, because white ring was dumb. Whether you want to believe or not Ashy boy, i was around during this time, and very active thought the majority of diablo 2, and LoD. In the end you have proved nothing, and you will continue to prove nothing, because all you talk about is NOTHING.
I got a good book for you, so you can better understand projection. It’s called The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious. Though i’m sure you wouldn’t understand a thing, being that you are clearly on the lower iq spectrum and wearing the mask of the actor.
PVP - I hate PVP. I never want to play PVP. It’s not my thing. If that’s your thing fine, but there are many of us who don’t want it. You should get what you want in specific areas where you can play with others who enjoy the sadomasochistic cycle of ganking, teabadgering (word filter) the dead, then getting ganked over and over for 3 hours. If that’s your cup of tea, you’re welcome to it, but don’t force it on me. PVE standard. PVP needs to be an opt in.
Trading - is fine to some extent, but what it really does is short-circuit the leveling process where you find your own gear. You get someone else’s extremely rare, super powerful gear, wear it, blow through the content, and then come to the forums complaining there’s nothing to do. Happened in D2. Happened in D3 with the RMAH. It will happen in any system where items can be traded. Also, I can definitely do without going back to having the chatbox be a nonstop stream of spam of people hawking their leftover items.
Permanent stats - I mostly agree, but people make mistakes. They misclick. They change their minds and don’t want to have to go back and relevel a whole new character. Respecs should be available, but sharply limited. In D2, you had normal, nightmare, and hell, so tying a respec to a quest would give a character up to 3 potential rerolls. I’m ok with that. I’m also ok with gating it over time, making you stick with what you have for a month before you can respec, or something like that. But I strongly believe there should be some sort of option in place.
My book recommendation for you is The Laws of Human Nature. it’ll help you understand how everyone knows why you are so nasty while you can’t figure it out yourself.
This entire argument started by me debating your claim that D2’s endgame was PvP. Yet you seem to readily admit that you didn’t PvP in 1.09.
You come off as someone who literally only played later D2 versions. Which is fine, and if you have an opinion on how D2 should implement PvP that’s fine too. But don’t sit on a soap box and pretend you speak for “The Majority of D2 players” or whatever other nonsense. You don’t.
PvP
I don’t want to sound like a broken violin here, but you seem to have mixed up diablo 3 as an actual diablo game. We can agree to disagree here if you’d like, but you are seriously outnumbered by the vast majority of negative feedback that diablo 3 had, even outside not having pvp, many missing features. Lets focus on one thing here, Diablo is simply not the game for you then and if you are merely assumming that Diablo was a grief fest, you are absolutely wrong in your bold assumption, because it wasn’t. so don’t get deluded. In conclusion, what you are saying is that you want a destiny game without guns, oof. May it be a slight exaggeration, what is absolutely true is that pvp was a major player in Diablo.
trading
The RMAH was a disaster, for many reasons that won’t grant me enough time to elaborate on. It wasn’t the trading aspect that made it bad, and if you can’t understand that, then that’s that i guess, i won’t talk to a wall with nothing on it. Trading is what gave Diablo life, if you were around, you’d know that. It seems like you’ve got your game for the most part, and thats diablo 3, go play it.
Readily admit that you didn’t pvp in 1.09
oops? You did it again. You are deluded. I clearly stated that i pvp’d in 1.09, just not as much as i did previously or after. Get it right genius.
That’s what made guidazon so strong, the near endless piercing. Hmmm seems like i pvp’d during this era? Again, oops, you are deluded.
One of the main staple points of this time, damn how did i know about it? Oops you did it again.
You seem to run into a trend of having a conversation with yourself based on confirmation bias, that probably stems from some kind of weird complex that i’m struggling to understand. I’ll say one thing, and you will only grasp half of it before responding to it, 1/2 of what i said, and 1/2 of what you want to respond to. Are you ready larry? okay FOCUS! lol, i digress. You know what they say, the proof is in the pudding. God bless you Larry.
I’m very straight forward, and if you define “nasty” as calling out nonsense and lies, then i will continue to be that way. My definition of nasty, are people like you, who lie for self validation. I’m more than happy to have real conversations about improvements on the game when diablo 4 beta releases. Until then i will continue to push forward core values of which made Diablo great, and call out fakes, and nonsense spewers, because those are the true toxic ones.
And your lack of self awareness is still just blowing my mind. Like you are claiming you played D2 1.09. Then you claim you didn’t PvP much in 1.09. And yet you are claiming that D2’s endgame is always PvP? Even though that was the most popular era? Like come on dude. Are you really not seeing the giant contradiction here lolololololol.
“I pvp’d at this time just not a whole lot”"
I think it’s hilarious how you seem to think the knowledge of white ring was confined to some small player base. You aren’t special for knowing about it, neither am i, if you really want to go through some underground stuff, i’ll do that with you, but how badly do i want to drag you through the mud? I’m not sure what kind of clarification you need, but it seems like you will attempt to latch on to anything, in order to prove some off putting point of unreality. I hated white ring, that was the way most pvper’s felt during this time, we all initially hated it. Your claim on how 1.09 was the pinnacle of Diablo 2:LoD is absurd, it was freakin anarchy. Still, what holds true is that endgame was still pvp, even during the only time you seem to have played d2 was, in 1.09. At this point, i’m starting to wonder if you know your sh**. Diablo 2: lod was at a pinnacle, not just in 1.09, hello?
Question for you. What was the strongest 2her in Diablo 2. Not LoD. You started this game btw, some kind of weird D***k contest. Really fits your personality, weird. So what is it?
edit: Common man, don’t google it, just answer. Or you don’t know? That might be two hard of a question for someone who only played 1.09, here is an easy one. What was considered the strongest pvp class in Diabl 2 (not LoD). That one is easy.
edit2: Yeah you have no idea, and i’m glad. I actually don’t feel like playing this weird childish game of questions with you, that you started. Then cringe’d your way to self conversation.
Whoever read this, scroll up and read the rest of this thread. This guy is a meme and now is attempting to label me as flamming him, some off putting witch hunt attempt, i don’t know. Also your weird attempts to copy me, is hilarious. I recommend a book to you (which you will never be able to understand, i’m sure), and you recommend one to me. Then you latch on to it, and your last 2 posts, were still about a book. Lol you are funny, get over it guy
ahh the ole white gear, negative str glitch, constricting rings etc… the good ole days… Just throwing my 2 cents in here, trading is important, don’t ostracize the pvp community because fun is subjective (some people are just trading-mongers where as others wanna make that lvl 20 pally twink on hardcore and stalk you until they can charge/kill you) and lastly… I think some of you are arguing over the wrong points
Take a look at the diablo 4 sorceress talent “tree,” it looks like complete d3 garbage, just subtle buff up under this condition etc. I had high hopes during the video sessions but then I remember the main dev specifically said you could find tomes that would give you talents, I’m fairly certain you’ll just beable to max out all the talents except the ones that say “only 1 talent on this row” coupled with how basic the talents and it makes me sad, oh well path of diablo still peeks my interest occasionally :)…
Finally i’d like to mention other things I liked about d2…Runewords, I mean I LOVED the runewords… It was so awesome to get enigma or something game changing like an insight for your merc or trying to aura stack or getting that first infinity for your sorc… Also I think mercs were really nice in d2, in d3 they are complete garbage ( since they leave in groups unless you are using that set that summons all 3 for 15 seconds or whatever )… Even hunting for runes was addicting at times, Magic find was fun too but it had its place.
The thing that kept me coming back/making new chars was essentially theory crafting, even trying to make some weird throwing barb work, it’s what alot of blizzard games and newer games are lacking… Theory crafting builds in WoW is pretty much dead, you can’t min/max with profession perks and in diablo 3 everything is gated behind legendaries or boring sets, I mean I did theory craft quite a bit in d3 but its just dead now and its been stale for along time. With runewords and weird builds, it just opened up so much theory crafting, something to think about when youre bored at work or driving home, something to give you that extra boost to get on and keep playing, trying something new… You know, the CURIOUS factor… I feel like alot of games now days lack that extra bit of statistical outliers that peek peoples curiosity, what if I do X/Y/Z and combine this merc then have my buddy do this, we could play a completely different way and it’d be fun… etc etc etc ^^
Exactly my thoughts. I find it hilarious how 1.09 larry thinks that knowledge of white ring was some kind of secret. Every d2 player knows about it, and i’m glad to run into another one, such as yourself.
I share similar concerns, across the board right now on many things i’ve seen on diablo 4. However, i’m trying to stay optimistic that blizzard will create a great game, and have learned from their previous train wreck of a system they had in d3. We can really start to touch on this on the Diablo 4 forums once we get more information on what is actually concrete, and what is not. God speed to us both, hope to see you there.
Aww the runewords…Good stuff. I’m pretty psyched that they are bringing that back. I really hope they keep diablo 2’s runeword system as a foundation to build upon diablo 4’s runeword system. If they stay true to the original, and use it as a foundation across the board, they are on an excellent path to creating a generation breaking game.
I love the way you put this. You really hit the nail on the head here. I’m happy for the first time since posting on these forums after diablo 4 release. I’m hoping to see you on the Diablo 4 forums, pushing for what an actual Diablo game. Cheers man.
Edit: I’ve literally been watching Endugu, typing something for the last 35 minutes. He kind of reminds me of my ex girlfriend at this point, i’m going to call him Dina from now on, not Endugu.
I do remember. Both the old forums where you had to use a D2 or WC3 key to post, and the ones released in early September 2011 with the beta.
Especially the 2nd iteration of those forums was filled with those posers.
Those were the people who destroyed the game pre-launch, and also advocated for the removal of trading post launch, and never said a word when we got scammed out of the advertised PvP Arenas.
Blizzard should not listen to fake gamers if they want the game to succeed, and not just at launch, but long term as well.
^^ Yeah I miss theory crafting the most for sure… I’ll never forget the night I bought diablo 2, It was midnight at release the game literally just came out 5 minutes before and I had to pay someone at the front of walmart to buy it for me because I was only 16 1/2… Luckily, the guy actually bought it for me and brought it outside. Nowadays places don’t give a damn about the ratings i’m guessing but they were cracking down hard back then so I felt pretty lucky it all came together. Hopefully you’re right about d4 and they listen to the community, its hard to please everyone though and some of the posts i’ve read the last couple days seems like the community is really divided.
I called you a flamer and you responded with this…
And so I thought I’d share a couple of your flames…
Then there is this.
All this flaming is 100% you and reflects no one else. Sorry it took so long to post, but it took some time to compile, you being the KingPoopFlamer of all time.
You spent 40+ minutes selective quoting. You don’t need to Dina, they can scroll up and read when you made a foul attempt to talked out of your a** and then made yourself look like a fool. Ever since i called you out, and people were laughing at you, only then did you develop this crush on me, kind of like Dina did. They don’t need your wall of text quotes that took you 40+ minutes.
Edit: What is funny is, half of these quotes were in response to nonsense, simply calling it out, and weren’t even applied to you. Nothing in thread that applied to you was constructive, or true, and you continue that lame trend.
Like wow dude, you literally contradict yourself in every one of your posts. Like in a 2 post frame you went from “knowing about white rings means your an old school D2 player” to now “PSHHH everyone knows about white rings you’re not special!”
I honestly can’t tell if you are purposely so disingenuous. You once again are setting up a strawman by twisting my words as if I don’t notice. I never said that 1.09 is the “pinnacle”. I said it was the most popular era of the game. WHich it was.
And PvP was not end game for everyone in 1.09.
AND OMFG YOU WERE THE ONE WHO ASKED ME TO ASK YOU A PVP QUESTION LOL! That’s hilarious my dude.
