We really need loot filters to filter out unwanted low level crap once you reach a higher level. So much better clearing that clutter
I’m just going to point you in this direction so we can avoid beating a dead horse - just don’t post please, you’d be necroing a dead thread, lol. There’s good information in the form of user feedback as to why or why not loot filters should be considered. You may need to do a little sifting through posts, however.
So, what you’re saying is we need a forum filter, to find the good loot?
Absolutely! Make it happen, cap’n!
I’m not sure what use a thread is to someone who cannot bump it but wishes to discuss the topic. Please just report a post if you think it violates the ToS, and move on without cluttering up threads with “mini-mod” spam.
I think it’s a great idea as an option. I’ve never understood why people are against personal options that only affect their own gameplay. If one doesn’t want a loot filter, they can simply not use it.
Hmm I dunno, I see your point to an extent but surely we could leave that to D4? I think most people agree that they want an authentic, pre-modernist gaming experience with D2R. Seeing a hard to find item among piles of junk at high levels is what makes treasure hunting so rewarding.
I’m deeply concerned that so many things will change that it won’t end up being D2R but something else entirely.
That makes sense for single player, but a loot filter isnt an option in multiplayer if others are using one because it gives the user a competitive advantage.
Is this really true? A shared stash is a modern feature and I bet >95% of D2 players want that feature.
Doesn’t some of the popular mods have loot filters?
Loot filters are only useful for making the visual of the item text more distinct, and readable. “Hiding” certain loot text is an overstep. Making gems stand out, and making eth items distinct from socketed items are literally the only two “loot filters” needed in the game. Everything else is already distinct enough.
That is a good point. Would you be okay with online play with the option; but not available if there is more than one player in the game? That seems to be more quality of life with no ramification to others.
except… it doesn’t because everyone has it?
it just makes life easier?
i mean even if u cant code your own you just download a popular one?
if blizzard gives everyone 2000 to build a gaming pc… and nothing else. and u choose to buy a 10 year old laptop for $25 you cant blame other people who using that full 2000 on with with a water-cooled i9 and a 3080… then u cant really “complain” about it not being “fair”.
it is fair…because everyone has the same opportunity. a loot filter is designed to do one specific thing… filter loot make the loot you want more visible.
as long as your not forcing anything upon anyone.
its just an “Accessibility option”.
sorting through something like

is a lot harder on the eyes and the brain than sorting through THIS

Well I see your point, I respect it, but I disagree with the loot filter, especially for multiplayer. I am cool with a shared stash, personally, but that, along with the new graphics and other small QoL changes are what I think enough.
No, we don’t need loot filters.
Yeah, I think it’d be fine to have a loot filter option if we were the only players in a multiplayer game.
whats the point of restricting them, i mean loot filters could be enabled or disabled as at the game creation level. if absolutely necessary but there is no reason to stop playing for using their filters… unless you choose to not use a filter at all they will give zero advantage over other players with a different filter… and even then that’s your choice.
i guarantee u haven’t used a diablo 2 loot filter if you think they aren’t useful, id rather not strain my eyes i woudl rather be able to see what i want in half a second than spent a much longer time looking around and actauling have to READ stuff, and then pick up each grey item to see how many sockets it has, or if it’s eth… its just a pointless waste for no reason.
i have my pod filter set up in a way that i dont need to red ANYTHING on a good drop… if i see a specific color i know to “pick up up first and ask questions later” the shinier it is the more important…
not to mention loot filters are very nice for new players who might not know what items are actaully worth a lot, u can set them to look for good rares that a new player might just charsi like a +3 WW lvl 30 helm.
I already reasoned out and outlined why loot filters on shared loot is a horrendously bad idea and “it’d be okay because everyone will have it” falls on it’s face.
Kindly read “Losing HRs through piles of junk”.
The fix is to make sure all the loot appears.
Loot filters on ploot is fine, not on shared. It’s already been parsed out.
if you used loot filter you would see what i mean , i said same thing until i tried it. Purists are simply too stubborn to accept small QOL changes. It is much better as most moder arpg learned, can always just not use it if you dont want to right.
I think we need a filter for dumb suggestions.
Its not dumb at all, you purists just cannot handle the future it would not affect gameplay at all simply less screen clutter thats why option to turn on or off for crybabys like you. Make it so when solo only if worried about grabs, its just a simple QOL for less clutter works great in the modded d2 versions
