Inventory management is not fun "gameplay? Discuss

I already said not everyone does that. I don’t do that. Am I not included in “everyone”?

so you dont use charms? none? how much space do you use up if you do then?

I started playing D2 in 1.03, ‘buddy boy’, of course I’ve played legit ‘all the way through’. It’s never been a particularly hard game, though it has always been rather amusing how horribly many people manage to fail at it. I’m not disagreeing with you because I’m ‘close minded’, I’m disagreeing with you because your ideas are trash which simplify the game to make it easier. It’s also rather amusing how you’ve had multiple people explain to you how your proposed changes are in fact balance changes but you just keep pretending that they aren’t..

As I already said before… I keep resist small charms, MF small charms, some of the better damage small charms, and a skill charm or two.

Usually less than half an inventory, unless I just don’t care to loot items anymore.

You can argue you always need to pick up items to make gold, I would argue with auto pick up of gold on the ground that is significantly less of an issue in the remaster.

that very well may be the case. we will see

I mean just running around on nightmare and hell you see countless piles of 500-5000 gold on the floor after killing a big pack of monsters. I rarely bother picking it up, with auto pick up that is going to be a lot of gold over time.

I know I will be significantly less interested in taking items to vendor now, maybe if they could vendor for more than 35k in hell I would still be interested in it.

screw it…
I’m just gonna get 10x Gold Find Grand Charms and 10x Gold Find Small Charms and never pick up an item again! JUST THE YUMMY GOLD SO I CAN GAMBLE MUWAHAHAHAHAHA

Charms are a tradeoff between inventory space and power.

I keep at least a 2x2 space free along with the cube in my personal inventory, I run with TP scrolls in the 4th belt slot. No ID tome or scrolls.

I’d rather the game be released as it has been. Lets just get this game out so we can play, get a ladder or two under our belts then perhaps look into changes then.

Make sure to add stuff like Goldskin full plate, you can get gold find to pretty crazy levels heh.

Man, Silamon, you nailed it, lol! That was what made D2 D2, if you get what I meant. The charms give you stat boosts at the cost of inventory space, and vice versa. If you have a separated inventory for charms, we might as well just wait for Blizzard to do a real remake or re-imagine of D2.

This is how D2 supposed to play!

I’m going to be a little bit of a purist on this, while i support a charm only inventory for a few reasons. I do believe limited inventory does add to the gameplay, picking and choosing what is good for your progress as a character. So I do not support increased inv size, I’m on the fence about rune gem etc stacking.

One of the motivations for getting good items is so you do not need to rely on charms saving you more space. If charm inventory existed getting perfect stats on items would be almost meaningless as you will get max resistance and such with charms instead of items.

people do that already…

It would be a comfortable innovation.
There can be many reasons why in D2 you could not stack gems or runes as in D3, for starters the technology or time consumpiton it would’ve taken.

I think that simple features as inventory management, skill/stats respec, etc… are all little features that change nothing to gameplay rather than simplify a time consuming activity.

Less time we lose in carefuly managing every skill/stat points, or chose what to keep because our inventory is full, gives us more time in really playing the game, like trying different builds, skillsets, characters, and run around for loot.

It would be simply Better Time Management, and that is good, especially in these times where a lot of us do not have all the time they would need for work, family and hobbies.

On charms I agree that they should not be stackable, exactly like any ring, or equipment item.
For gems, potions or runes, I see those much more like gold, and think that to stack them would be usefull.
I would like to have stackable potions in the inventory and stash, but need to unstack them to fill the belt (so that that part would not affect gameplay).

having stackable potions makes game more easy effecting game play, you could stack 200 rejuvs and face tank a boss easy.
