I think the best solution would be to let him spawn randomly with a very low chance in games in which a player is actively playing.
The old way of spawning him (selling a huge amount of SoJs and making him spawn for all games on that server IP) is kind of terrible and also led to some shenanigans involving dupes and bots and mostly favored the people entangled in this kind of stuff.

Yeah there will need to be some kind of reasonable change to this mechanic as selling mass SoJās is very outdated and hacker prone

i think random spawning is a good option but with no ip hunting i suggest 1 charm drop for every player in the party / take part of the fight
That actually changes the spawn method qualitatively, since you cannot hunt for him anymore. Big problem imo, since it takes away one possibility to make progress in the game.
I am advertising a key system in these forums, since I think, it has proven to be good for UBERs and you can randomize it to a certain degree.

I still think selling 1soj per dclone spawn is the best way forward.
Even 1soj for a few random walks+your game would be pretty good.
The entire server search system needs to die though, it was stupid to begin with.
The randomness was fun though, there are ways they could keep it semi-random and fun.
Itāll be a random spawn in any hell difficulty game that was created by a player who has cleared A5 hell.
i cant take credit for the idea, but i think a system like ātorchā where u find the pieces of something
someone suggested āpieces of a faux sojā to keep with the theme, then u could cube itā¦ then take ot to the herllforge and smash itā¦ and that would make him walk in your game.
i think removing actual sojs from the economy would be bad, easily since u cant really farm for āspecificā items unless they are designed to be farmed that way like tokens or keys.
and then he walks in your gameā¦ and maybe has a 10% chance to drop the anni.
id rather have him not have 100% anni chance and have the parts easier to find so i could fight him more often like i could back in the days of duped sojs.
i care about the annis a lot as i use it on every character for every buildā¦ but i care about the fight just as much if not more. so something maybe 2-3x higher than key drop rates and then maybe a 10-25% chance to drop anni after u kill him.

I say anywhere from 25% to 33% chance to spawn DClone when a SoJ is sold, and only in that game. All other mechanics stay the same.

Instead of SOJs, how about an absurd amount of āStandard of Heroesā since itās global servers and presumably there wont be mass duped SOJs anymore. Give the Standard itās purpose.

Since itās a guaranteed drop for everyone in the game when the Pandemonium event is completed, that would create a new problem. I say just get rid of the Standard of Heros.

No, an absurd amount. Such that one person wouldnāt be spawning anni whenever they feel like it. Letās make it less like the current system, where a small group of hackers crashes a server ip and then stacks as many mules onto it as possible and sells their grip of duped SoJs to harvest nearly the entire anni market. That system is lame AF.
Instead, the global server heats up and globally spawns DClone after ~3-4k standards are sold. The message āx sojs sold to merchantsā replaced with āanother heroes standard desecratedā or something without telling the actual count.
Iāll agree to disagree with your idea at this point. You like your idea, I like mine. This close to the game being released, I doubt our debate has or will have any bearing on what Blizzard decides or has already decided on how DClone will spawn.
standard of heros has been suggested before but its still a terrible ideas becuase standard of hero comes from the uber tristyā¦ which is MUCH harder to do than dclone.
dclone is a cakewalk by comparisonā¦ i hate doing torch ubersā¦ becuase they restrict your build WAY too much and i cant play any of my āfunā characters and do it even remotely effectively.
lillith and the other mini ubers are easy enough but the stupid conviction aura and the adds ruin uber trist for meā¦ i dont find it fun like i do dclone.
forcing me to not only run torch but run it a LOT would be stupid
so you want every player to leave the game and make a new one when they start selling? so we can DDOS the game creation servers? and then leave a game open overnight 24/7 in case of walks during the nightā¦
