I find it funny that you doubt that there are people who actually play diablo games ethically. I also do not drink alcohol and do not do illegal drugs (and in general avoid all drugs with some exceptions such as being fully Covid vaccinated in January).
Why does Diablo 2 need all these âmodernâ things people mention? Why canât it just stay as a classic game many loved and still adore? We have Diablo 3 and an upcomming Diablo 4, why do we need 3 modern Diablo experiences? Why canât you leave this one alone? Why does every game have the be the same with a few tweaked maps and abilities? This game is unique, and it should stay like that.
Lets be honest here boys and girls. I donât think a new team can bring this 20 year old game forward in the same direction, i just donât. If a completely new team were to revive this game 20 years later it would probably take a whole new direction, and i fear this direction will take the niche out of this game.
I think QoL and modernization should be a thing of the future, not the past. I would not risk it in a game as good as this.
TLDR; I hope the game stays faithfull to the original, with absolute minor QoL changes such as networking, graphics and things like shift-clicking items into and out of stash, refresh button at the gambler and other minor things that does not alter balance or economy in any way.
The economy will already be destroyed on launch by the newest bot tech, its unfortunate but blizzard and other companies really donât know how to deal with cheat programs. As far as balance I hope they embrace a separate realm approach, that way people like you can live in their nostalgia. Then move over into a slightly different pool when they are ready or never do all up to you.
I donât know why you think the game will suddenly become d3 or d4 if options were introduced. Like you just play the game for FFA loot and choosing between drops and charms or something. Never mind the excellent atmosphere music and combat.
With the features that Blizzard has already announced, D2R will not be completely authentic to D2.
Are you planning on playing the game in 4:3 screen dimensions?
If not (e.g. you play at 16:9, 21:9 or even 32:9 screen dimensions), the monsters aggro differently, what you can see and where you can teleport is different, the range of certain player attacks is altered, and your in game tactics will be different.
This is interesting that you say this. The head of the old team when talking about the difficulties of making D2R (before it was officially announced) made a big deal about screen dimensions and how it changed the game. Also, he has repeatedly said in hindsight he would change 3 things in D2 if he could go back in time. One of these is quite contentious.
As noted above, the graphics change to support modern monitors changes the game. If that extent of change is ok, there are other changes that have far less impact that should be considered.
This actually does effect the economy as does auto-gold pickup (an announced optional feature) that allow the player to gamble more.
I am playing this game the same timeperiod like you and I would appreciate some changes.
If you dont want things like more space, stackable itms or something like that, you dont need to do so⌠you can still pick all piece by piece
Nothing hold you back.
Personal loot ? Of course personal loot.
Million times a bot grapped something infront of me.
Why i wanna play in group ? Because its more fun and better chance to get a usefull dropâŚ
But why the hell does this mean i want someone else has to share this loot with me or i with him ?
You are talking about community ?
Everything I found in a couple of weeks are botsâŚ
Since this is the D2R forum, players had to pre-purchase to post here. Most of us are veteran D2 players (I think).
The idea that those requesting changes are some derogative is unwarranted, as many of us are quite skilled gamers who can see that D2 and D2:LoD have some faults that can be improved upon. Even the OP acknowledges
He states that these imperfections make the game better. Imperfections are suboptimal and strongly indicate that there is room for improvement.
Iâd love to have a semantic argument for why some perceived imperfections are not suboptimal but I think it would be just that, semantics.
What once may have been a flaw in design, in my opinion, may also be optimal to keep in this remaster.
When ancients were given level restrictions, the developers stated their intended goal was to make rushing new characters harder. Should we eliminate rushes altogether?
There are tons of bugs, or imperfections, as some may call them, that I think are pretty perfect to include in the remaster.
Simple example: optional auto-gold pickup. A seemingly trivial QoL feature.
This is something that many including David Brevik considers an imperfection/something he would change if he could go back in time to change D2. I agree with having auto-gold pickup as an option.
If Blizzard wanted a strict remaster, then this should not be an option at all. Moreover, easier gold pickup mean more gambling, more gambling means more good items, more good items affect game balance/trade economy. This is just one example but many things become eye of the beholder and a personal preference.
You donât have to make that choice with respect to a charms vs inventory space. The âpowerâ vs âroomâ choice is negated. You can literally save and exit with an item at any point when full temporarily giving you an additional +8 inventory space.
Weâre not talking about some sort of qualitative benefit like using an item to reduce immunities. Weâre just talking a straight up quantitative benefit that has essentially no trade-off. If thatâs the case, why keep the inconvenience for inconvenienceâs sake?
Iâm a diablo veteran as well, I am not a kid much as yourself and I am playing since launch, do yourself a favor and get down from the high tower youâre in, I can see where you come from about changing the loot but charm inventory and the like has nothing to do with how you play and doesnât make the game change difficulty
if you want to stay in the past you can, like you said, donât make anyone else do what you donât want?
you can keep playing Diablo 2 lod or classic the way it is right now, you donât even need to wait for release
I appreciate the fact that you think the game has at least some issues that need to be fixed. Blizzard has been clear that mods will be supported; however, mods that inject into the game will not. As you know the popular D2 mods almost exclusively inject into the game and therefore can not be ported directly to D2R. Moreover, I think that at least some of modders have explicitly stated that they will not make a version that is D2R compatible due to Blizzardâs restrictions. Therefore, the fix that should be implemented is that D2R is released with these fixes being optional and directly incorporated into D2R.
i just reply to soulskeeper who said to op he jsut could stick to lord and classic if he dont whant changes. no more no les. so dont put words in my mouth⌠and i see you still Quote parts so it fit you stories.
Here is your short post quoted. I initially only quoted two of three sentences. Here is all 3.
I stand by my response that Blizzard has explicitly stated that mods that inject into the game will not be allowed and that the best solution is to have Blizzard introduce fixes as optional changes in D2R.
So just so weâre clear this is made for the Diablo veterans and people who have kept it alive??? What do you think this number is I would guess under 10,000 maybe even 2,000!
