Thanks. I’ve been working out.
My 5 cents.
Atmosphere, Hellraiser style enemies, visual tone, colors… well this whole realistic art style and absense of that stupid WoW influence is GREAT.
Interaction between skills of different characters is GREAT (unless it is purely cosmetic - which is not really clear for me from sorc+barb horse gameplay demo shown).
Classic skills and characters - I’m fine with that.
Some animations are stiff (both of character and certain mobs), some visual effects seems a bit out of place (like certain lightning skills) - but I’m sure all this will be fixed later.
As for MMO elements (aka raids) - didn’t like it. Just stupid mess. Was hoping for some passive influence of different individual players/parties play on the world map itself (like active enemy zones in late PoE Atlas) but where this “strategic” situation is not individual, but one and the same for all players.
Combat, unfortunately, is like in D3, without any progress of physical interaction between char and enemies. I’m afraid this will eventually lead to the same stupid D3 fast endgame where the only objective is to gather as many mobs as you can in one spot, keep them there with sup-chars and kill them with some aoe-skills as fast as possible. Add small stun animation at least (as in D1 and D2), so that even if you get no real damage from (at least) big blows, you can’t go unhindered through enemies and just ignore them. There must be hit recovery.
Return of the runes is great, but you know, classic d2 rune system seems better, where runeword creates a really unique item. Maybe you should reconsider it, if you still want to keep “legendaries”. Please make “unique” class items (created by runes) return as well, with multiple and sometimes uncommon or unique affixes. And ye, make them of gold color again .)
Blizzard themselves said there are world bosses that cannot be soloed(this is my biggest gripe here). This means there are things in the game your are forced to do in a group, hence “forced multiplayer”. Plus ignoring other players are there and them actually not being there are very different things.
It’s a shame too, everything else about the demo looks awesome… -_-
Anyways I know most ppl don’t give a damn about this and I’ve already said my piece so I won’t pollute the thread with any more of this ;p
I would like to remind everyone we’re fast approaching 2020. What we saw on the demo was a gameplay of a 2010 game. Oh were giving you runes and skill tree back… Well, that’s no longer enough. We’re not fools here. You want my money? Make something better that what I saw… Like A LOT BETTER. A laggy colourless sh*te with spells that an integrated video card can handle with ease won’t impress past the initial hype.
What i expect for diablo 4 is not making the same mistakes from diablo 3. Legendaries was way too easy to get. What the fun to grind to get good stuff if you have so high drop rate, kadala with blood shards, horadric cube etc? I remember back in the beginning of d3 when drop rate was very low but dam when i expect to drop a mempo of twilight and get a crit chance on it. No transmog, not horadric cube, just luck. takes time to get good items. Now with d3, its way too fast to get a decent set. So easy that they decide do put ancient item and primal item.
Very Exciting! I’d be happy to see solo play available. Can’t wait! Where can I mail my $$$$ now? LOL
Very excited, I really believe Diablo IV will be the sequel Diablo II deserves. Please don’t make me wait +20 years
Looks great, but…I played all 3 Diablo games solo.
If I can’t do the game solo, I won’t but it.
And if there are others running around killing stuff, then
that isn’t a solo mode.
Hopefully there will be a solo mode, so some of us that like
to play at our own pace, can.
Now let’s hope the game director learns from ~8 years of D3 mistakes and does NOT repeat them in D4.
8 years is a bit harsh for a game that’s still played and popular. Mind you, I just got a near-perfect primal Flavor of Time for my DH so I’m feeling quite chuffed with D3 today.
High hopes, low expectations…
The graphics look good, albeit similar to what we’re already used to, and it seems like they’re going for a darker theme this time - cool.
I hope leveling a character is HARD. I hope this time we can choose things like how we place attributes. I hope that choosing skill X over skill Y actually has some meaning and consequence. I hope I don’t feel like I’ve finished the game in a week or less.
I expect the gameplay to be dumbed down just like D3 was.
Really excited for D4. Just watched Rhykker’s stream and the dev was very informative. I definitely hope to see an Amazon added with javelins/bows/crossbows and then a Paladin for the base 5 characters. Assassin and Necro should be added through expansions.
Super excited… My only hope is they continue with closed, and open beta. I and a couple friends played the hell out of D3 even though it caped at lvl 15. We had input and it was great to be part of the process. Thank You Blizz for D4 we have been waiting for this.
I am very excited only thing I didn’t like is the fact enemies still glow on attack. This ruins emmersion. I hope it is removed before released or an option to turn it off is there. I also sincerely hope they stop all this lazer beams and glowing floor stuff to make the game harder and just increasing HP. I hope they remove soulbound items. I hope an employee actually sees this and considers these things.
I played Diablo1 and 2 and 3 was nowhere near close to the first 2. This looks like what D3 should have been.
Blizzard should consider this their only chance to get it right with Diablo.
Do not screw it up.
Forreal, I’ve been waiting since 2003 for this game.
just get another job lol.
I’ve got some feedback for you.
- No plans for an auction house. I fully agree on this part, which i will explain below.
- They recognize that there is demand for trading and will have a trading system. They mentioned trading in the opening ceremony too. They know people want it. The details of the trading system is not set in stone. They want player feedback to help them decide how to do it.
They are currently looking at having 3 tiers of item for trading
1st tier is fully tradable, materials for crafting etc.
2nd tier is tradable once, then it’s bound and no longer tradable.
3rd tier is bind on pick up, never tradable.
There was a backlash in the chat when they mentioned bind on pick up. People don’t want to play a Diablo variant of WoW.
Personally I can accept items being bind on equip. Or bind on trade. Helps keep the economy afloat. But not bind on pickup. People should be able to trade powerful items.
This is the most fun part of trading, when you find that powerful item, it is useful. Because even if it’s not exactly what you needed, you can trade it for what you are looking for or sell it for a nice amount and buy yourself something nice. You can also give it to a friend, even if they’re not playing with you.
To not allow people to trade top items takes away most of that fun of finding and trading items. That sounds far too much like D3 and like WoW. Plenty of backlash in the twitch streams about anything in general that made this game feel like Diablo 3. Many negative comments claiming this is just Diablo 3.5.
Bind on equip or bind after 1st trade for top items I can deal with, because you can still find and trade items. Bind on pickup ruins that. I am not sure any sort of item binding is even necessary if there no auction house because it is the auction house that massively amplifies the issues associated with trading.
Not having an auction house is fine. This greatly helps to make trading less problematic if your goal is that players should mostly focus on finding their own gear. Because if there was an auction house, every half decent item ends up on the auction house and into the player economy. And every player has an easy way to quickly search for and buy that gear. So having an auction house takes away a lot of the focus of playing the game to find gear.
I remember in D2, the vast majority of good items i found ended up in the stash and never entered the player economy. Because i didn’t want to sit around in the trading channel all day. If there was an auction house in D2, I would have put all of those items up for sale. Without an auction house, nobody is going to sit around trying to trade every decent item they find, they’d rather play.
If there is an auction house it will result in players using the auction house to acquire much of their gear. If there is trading but not an auction house, most of the focus will be on playing to find gear.
One of the things that really encouraged me to play D2 is when my friends traded me some really nice items that made me much more powerful. That won’t be possible in D4 if the best items are all bind on pickup.
The game needs to have trading. But players will know if it’s badly designed, half assed and meaningless. It needs to be useful and fun. Finding a top tier item is fun, even if you can’t use it. As long as you can still trade it, it is useful.
My feeling so far? If it’s just a more open world Diablo 3 that pretends to offer trading but not in any meaningful way, by excluding the most fun part of it, which is trading nice/top items, then I probably won’t even buy it. I’ll keep an eye on where it ends up.
You guys done it Blizzard, you listened to the fans and we’re back on track fulfilling what this franchise deserves. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
I’ll have to give it to blizzard. They sure know how to make a trailer. As I was watching I hated that I loved the art of diablo given blizzards terrible practices in supporting barriers to free speech and kow towing to China.
I’ll be interested in seeing if blizzard changes course in regards to the backlash. If so, I’m excited to buy this game as it looks to embody the great parts of diablo 2. Was that duriel I saw? If they stay the course I’ll spend my money elsewhere. I’m not buying classic wow for this reason as much as I want to join some of my friends.
Just want to say that I am so happy to see this spectacular return to form.
D4 is looking like what we wanted all along from 3 - a true upgrade to D2. The intro video gave me a very similar chill to that of 2’s intro with Baal messing with Darius’ head and chaos & death ensuing in the wanderer’s wake.
And the gameplay, wow… open world, beautiful REALISTIC looking gothic horror, not the cartoony nonsense we got with 3. And classic D2 classes returning!!! Please bring back the Paladin and Assassin as well !!!
Definitely pre-ordering. Been waiting far too long for this.
