Diablo IV Announcement Discussion

Just watching Quin69 streaming D4 and the game runs at 1440p with only high settings so it can look even better at our home pcs. Ultra High settings, yeah. Attack animations and combat seems to be super smooth.

Overall the game looks really good. I’ve watched lots of content on it including Wolfcryer’s stream.

My main concerns are around this “Seamless open world” situation.

  1. Is it forced multiplayer? There is no way to play solo at all?

  2. Does this “open world” necessarily then preclude the inclusion of randomized maps? That’s a big reason I couldn’t get into Titan Quest or Grim Dawn. Once you know the layout the replayability goes out the window for me.

The 2nd point I could live with but for me having no solo play would make this a no buy. I know you guys love multiplayer but I just don’t do MP games anymore. 99% of my D3 playtime is solo. I just like playing solo without other players.

And to me that’s the big concern. When I say “solo” i mean a game where there is no other payers - not one in which I’m put into a multi player environment but can do things on my own.

My health’s not the best anymore. I just hope it comes out while I can still play it.

Yeah, I hear you! I’m trying to decide if I will play PC or console.
I prefer PC but the console I can sit more comfy and play longer…Old age is not for the feint at heart!

They have skill points. The picture I saw just showed 8 skill points in one skill in each of the six categories (catagories similar to D3)… so I don’t know exactly how that works but there is points and you can get bonus points on gear.

Already hearing the complaints too. It’s not even finished yet. Maybe it’s because younger players take for granted how far video games have evolved. To the younger people. May I suggest you search for video of old games? Pac man, and combat on atari 2600 will show you how far gaming has come. Keep in mind some of us played those titles and were happy. It’s all there was. Better yet look up pong.

Hey guys- I’m currently at blizzcon - everything in store for us looks AMAZING! Real quick though. Can we please get the Real Money Auction House back in Diablo 4? It was really enjoyable for me as a player to get an epic drop and sell it. I bought my first kids baby stroller with a sword I sold. It’s been a few years now and this kid is getting more and more expensive. This mini van payment is outrageous as well. If we can get the RMAH back, that would be awesome. THANKS!!!

I for one am PUMPED! This is what all real Diablo enthusiasts have been waiting for. Thank you Blizzard. Thank you Activision for continuing the Diablo and Sanctuary Saga. I cannot wait…

HOLY CRAP

I watched the trailer and the Barbarian/sorcerer/druid video and you NAILED NAILED NAILED the dark foreboding (and beautifully highly detailed I might add) ambiance that Diablo fans have been craving for a LOOONG time.

I’m so excited for this game!

UNLESS the auction house has absolutely zero connection to what drops in the world. I.e., the loot table in D3 was actually affected by what was in the AH, which underhandedly served to funnel players to the AH when they couldn’t get the drops they wanted by grinding.

That was terrible.

I hope the music isn’t going to be the frantic over the top orchestral music like in the gameplay trailer during gameplay. It would be ridiculous.

The gameplay looks a bit stiff, but I understand it’s an early iteration and it will be polished.

The multiplayer part, though, is unwatchable. If i wanted to play an MMO I would have bought an MMO.
I’ve always played Diablo offline and played D3 solo.
I guess most people, like me, play this game as a relaxing diversive where we can pause whenever we want to and move away from the screen. We don’t want to be forced into following a party’s pace, or follow the FotM group meta.

And trading better be very limited, it cannot be the best way to gear up like it was in D3.

What I read said you could solo if you like.
Taken from the info page: (sorry, I’m not worthy to include the link but it’s the blog/23189675/diablo-iv-unveiled-11-1-2019 page.

While it’s dangerous to go alone, you might prefer to solo your way through Sanctuary. Anyone can explore the campaign at their own pace, plumb randomized dungeons for rare loot, and find any item without joining a group. Keyed dungeons will offer a new endgame experience available to individual players as well as groups of up to four! You’ll want to stay tuned to find out more!

This just says you can play the game “solo” not that you can play the game alone.

You can solo your way through any MMO but that doesn’t make it a single player game.

You do understand the definition of “Solo”, right?

They just confirmed no SSF mechanic in their stream. So you will be forced to share the world with other players.

Okay, so you may see other players in the game. But, you don’t have to interact with them. If you do not Party with them, they’re just like extra NPCs in the game.

Correct. It’s fine if you’re cool with that. For me, personally, it’s a deal breaker. I can only speak for myself and my own tastes. I truly hope you end up loving the game for years to come but I’ll be sitting this one out.
