And then you can always do it the D3 way and go to an arena to PvP or if you want to PvP have the other accept the PvP combat if they want it
Or is it only about Griefers running around killing other people and ruining the game for others
You have that backwards
I will say one thing at this time, thank god the art direction
isnât as cartoonie, with bright spell flashes and ridiculous armor,
looking at you shoulder pads.
For immersion I need dark and gritty, not Disney.
Definitely better itemization, could be some from D2,
but surprise us.
I want a good long leveling game, not this fast train to 70.
The journey should feel meaningful too.
And no Disney Daiblo 3 villains.
D3 only sold as well as it did thanks to D2.
Blizzard only became the company they did to make D3 in the first place in part thanks to D2.
If youâre so deluded as to think D3 is anywhere near that level of a masterpiece, then nobody here can help you.
Exactly, D3 sold so many copies based on the reputation of D2. It failed to live up it.
Trouble is those on the forums are only a handful of people compared to the sales of D3 and probably the same handful of people when compared to those still playing and nowhere near everyone
And had absolutely nothing to do with the RMAH, and the bots so you can bot and make money or even not play and just flip items on the AHs
Nobody wouldâve cared about the RMAH if it were some backwater IP. They cared because it was Diablo. Diablo 2 is really the title responsible for blowing this franchise wide open. Ergo, D2 is even responsible for people trying to capitalize on features like the RMAH.
If youâre so deluded as to think D3, one of the best selling games of all time is a failure, then nobody here can help you, though your fellow D2 fanbois are sure to try.
Even if there were 10 million D2 players (and there werenât), and they all purchased D3, then still the majority of players of D3 never played D1 or D2. There were what, 14 years between LoD and D3 release? D2 players might have been hyped for a new Diablo title, but for most gamers the hype was Blizzard first and Diablo second, with D3 being their first Diablo game. Thatâs the facts. Youâre having a lend of yourself if you think D3âs massive commercial success was completely due to a 14 year old game. In fact, on launch the D2 fanbase did everything they could to sabotage sales, flooding forums and review sites with torrents of negativity and abuse. It still moved 30 million plus units. But yeah, all down to D2.
Again, it got those sales by riding on D2âs legacy. If it werenât for D2, I have no doubt whatsoever that D3 wouldâve been a colossal flop because it was in an incredibly sorry state when it was released and Blizzard has only made it somewhat passable since then. The story still sucks, the dialog is a meme at this point, and the artistic direction is definitely confused at best.
D3 is an embarrassment that has more than earned its sub-mediocre player ratings. But Iâm sure the terrible ratings are all part of some âD2 fanboyâ conspiracy, even though there arenât enough of them to have made a difference in D3âs âmassiveâ commercial success (which is it, btw?).
By the way, when are people going to stop equating commercial success with quality? Letâs take a look at the top-selling artists of this decade⌠Hmm⌠Letâs see⌠Drake, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, One Direction, Katy Perry, etc.
But youâre right, clearly thereâs a direct correlation between quality and commercial success.
Give it a rest. D2 will always be one of the most important games in PC gaming history and D3 will always be remembered as a flop.

Only by D2 fanbois. And guess what? In terms of numbers, youâre now pretty irrelevant to the franchise. D4 will be based much more on the success of D3 than on D2, and will sell about a billion copies. Enjoy.
Letâs make diablo great again
PvP be split fiddy, fiddy, fiddy.
Fiddy pcent want PvP,
Fiddy pcent avoid PvP,
The other fiddy pcent~ neutral.
Thatâs a hunnit fiddy pcent.
I donât want D4 to be a prettier clone of D2 with a different story. That is not moving the series forward. I want an improvement of the diablo series. D4 is doing what I said needs to be done an improvement of the best features of both D2 and D3. That is the ticket, that way both Blizz North fans and Blizz Irvine (Activision/Blizz) can enjoy playing a diablo game together as it should be.
I know that it wonât work out good if I have to play a Diablo game where I have to love PvP just to play the PvE and I am sure that the majority would agree. Keep PvP for special zones for it. That way it doesnât bother my PvE portion of Diablo.
At the end of the day Diablo isnât a PvP centered game. Where PvP is the main focus of the game. It never has been nor will it ever be the main focus. I am glad it is only a side area. I hate to be in town with other players and all of a sudden I get killed and everything that I had on my character is gone. If that would keep going I would go all hostile saying PvP, PvP nothing to do but PvP. Also saying in chat no better way to level up the character or get gear other than PvP. Going to great extremes and only relenting when I know no one would bother me. Which at that point I just might leave and uninstall D4. Now do you see where I am going with this.
Consensual PvP is far better than a gankfest. Sure it might be fun for those that ganked but not the victims.
Also it is not a good idea to have it where you have to walk back to your corpse. Those days of harsher penalties have been long gone long before Diablo 3 was an itch in Blizzâs jeans. Around the time that City of Heroes launched the death penalty of games was getting lighter. So around 2004 the death penalties were getting lighter and lighter till they are what they are now.
yes we are saying that for years but who listens?
I completely agree with this they said hundreds of dungeons (if that works out) not all of them are going to be in pvp zones donât want to pvp or get griefed or whatever you want to call it avoid those zones than noone forcing you to go there or partake in pvp. I do sometimes when I feel like it other times I donât works for me.
looks like the game is going to be like d3 at this rateâŚ
Not to mention the dupes ,hacks Ect, that impliment once the hackers have true access to the code becuase of client side data Like D2 .As opposed to server side with D3 .Ya, there are still bots and Thud but nothing compaired to how bad it could be .Think D3 console hacks now on PC talk about a nightmare.
I agree with you ShadowAegis, hopefully there will not be any PVP exploits.
My only thought about ganking someone is there are never consequences after the fact. If your character went on some bounty board with a 1000 gold reward per PK, and your character name was high lighted like a world boss notification anytime your in game, at least revenge could be served.
I love this idea but it could get really bad for the Pker really fast I think there should a number of bountyâs offered per player a cap like say 10 .That way they can actually still play with out being hunted like a dog constantly until you were to run out of reward money ⌠Ya,It would be funny but not so much for the person who gets wiped out ever time the meet a higher lever char.
