D4 Internal testing has begun. BETA SOON!?

Show it? It’s only conjecture based on a comment about not being released in 2022. As Shadout said they could have just said that to quell investor inquiries.

Heard nothing like that at BlizzCon or BlizzConline. And again, if that were the case, then I see that as a sign of rushing.

Well we know the year now which is, according to Blizzard, 2023. Before that, we didn’t have any of that. If it was actually planned for 2022, then I imagine we would’ve gotten a release year of that during one of the 2021 quarterly update blogs (including BlizzConline).

It was stated in a quarterly report besides Barriga himself mentioning it. I mean… How you missed those two (one of which absolutely official confirming the unofficial)?

Sure it was, which goes back to:

You can see that as a sign of rushing only if the D4 team is smaller than an Indie dev studio, but we know that’s not the case. Don’t underestimate the D4 team - they might be inexperienced, but are big in numbers.

Regardless of the size of the development team, if they said that the game won’t be ready soon (in Blizzard’s case not even Blizzard soon), then I wouldn’t be surprise if it takes more than a couple of years to finish. If it’s sooner than that, then I’ll suspect that corners were cut and/or development was rushed.

They can say whatever they want at Blizzcon regarding future release frames without exact date. It’s as good as unofficial info or leaks. The quarterly report is official however.

Sure it is.

I doubt watching someone play the game is same as playing it. Some people like that, some people doesn’t. That’s why Twitch or Youtube are not good measures for gauging interest and popularity of something.

If you ask me, D4 open beta is at least 6 months ahead, it can be tested in a closed beta where limited amount of invites handled first. Hence why they held a Hell’s Ink event; these will be the people who get their closed beta invites with a few other names.
Closed beta phases, supposedly lasts for a month or longer after awaiting it ever so patiently. One or two months can pass until they get their invites, they play, and after a limited time the closed beta phase ends. Only then, you’d get to see open beta and people inviting other people. The development is a slower practice than your hype trains.

Maybe, but I would expect end of year or by March.

I’m sure they targeted 2022, but what haooened in 2020 and 2021?

Deaperation is a stinky cologne. Care to post some l8nks that acrually verify your claims. I mean ines that have Blizzard saying D4 will release in 2922 or Barriga saying it? Of course nit. The link you posted showed you claiming July 13, 2021 as proof of your 2023 prediction being right.

Your name should be changed to Alwayswrong or Neverright.

I am up for bets as always - by November this year at latest I say.

Those stating other, but refusing to bet obviously troll.

The Quarterly Update Blogs and BlizzConline (2021). If Diablo 4 was going to be released in 2022, then in one of the Quarterly Update blogs, they’d a posted the release year 2022 somewhere in blogs, especially BlizzConline since that was a year earlier than 2022.

It could have easily been targeted for 2022. By the tine covid disrupted things in 2020 and the lawsuit investigation in 2021 it would have been pushed back. So any of thise shareholder meetings wouldn’t have said a thing because the disruptions to development were already under way. It is not unreasonable to say they lost a years worth if time.

Oh no, I meant more in Sept, we may hear more info, but may not play it in Sept, may be too soon. Hope i am wrong

#letMEin

It could’ve but again I imagined they would’ve mentioned a 2022 release year in a quarterly update blog or even on the Diablo 4 page. Afaik, neither was given, hence I don’t (nor did I ever) see 2022 release happening unless they decided to rush it.

Even if Blizzard has ever targeted 2022, it is not exactly the first time that companies have set unrealistic release targets for themselves, also before covid existed. I very much doubt it would have been out in 2022 without covid.

I don’t have time for bets, I just state what I know. Beta phase of a game lasts about 3-6 months at the average, this includes both closed and open beta phase that follows. To add, Microsoft only tend to promote trailers from games that is due release under a year. So I think it’s only logical that the presumable date of the beta phase is at least 5-6 months away.

Game will enter closed beta first at the upcoming months before it goes public open beta. Those closed beta people may allowed to have few invites or not. My guess would be no but I never participated in a Blizzard beta test before. Closed beta following the open beta usually lasts for a month or two months. This is in case Blizzard allow it to ever go into open beta at all. After two months forward, game supposedly be completely out at 2023.

This is the time line, considering game will be out a year later without any delays. I say, the beta phase is at least a few months away knowing the release will be into the 2023.
Friends and Family beta started when game was barely out of alpha state, so I don’t think it counts as a part of closed beta testing. It’s more like an internal testing among the developers themselves. You may have no idea how long this gonna last either. This is not even closed beta. It will be closed beta when those Hell’s Ink people got their access to the beta phase.

I kind of wish I was careless enough to troll people with arguments like “Diablo 4 beta next week guys!” but I’m not.

The thing you are missing is Blizzard could have targeted 2022 when Blizzcon 2019 happened. They typically wouldn’t mention a release window until they were certain even to shareholders, not that far out anyways.

What happened 1st quarter 2020? COVID-19. That obviously delayed stuff, so every report in 2020 would not have mentioned an initial 2022 target. Then the lawsuit happened in 2021, which may have delayed things also, so in 2020 and 2021, plans changed. It’s one of the reasons they don’t announce dates until they are certain they will make them. They usually say thungs like progressing well, on schedule, and so on.

My point is nit that the ever said 2022. It’s that it easily coyld have been if not for COVID-19 and the lawsuits. Since 2022 would be years of dev time, which is par for Blizzard.
