Those suggestions would be better received from someone who plays the game and has current relevant experience with the game to draw upon. Further, I am hard pressed to find any actual suggestions from you in this entire thread.
No it’s not. There are plenty of great games that didn’t have a massive budget or rake in tons of money.
and there is little reason to think Blizzard is going to make a better game out it. Overwatch certainly didn’t get better post-launch when the popularity exploded.
I’ve seen what happens when Blizzard starts trying to cater to things other than just focusing on the best damn game possible.
I’ll pass on that.
This requires money and implementing player’s feedback.
Of course there isn’t any guarantee that if they make a ton of money when D4 launches they would re-invest these into D4, but if they make zero money there wouldn’t be anything to re-invest at all.
Ok god, thanks for the info.
The way you’ve acted in this thread you would think it’s a miracle that Blizzard used to be able to make games that were amazing at launch without needing to make tons of money to re-invest into them,
how so? the games have absolutely nothing to do with each other other than being AAA games under the extremely vague “rpg” banner
That’s like comparing Fifa 21 with F1 2021
It’s the year 2020, gamers are way different now demanding more with each game they play. Heck, even in this thread there are many advocating for a polished game.
We’ll see. It may turn out that many aRPG players actually like Cyberpunk.
Yes, what does that have to do with anything? People like different games.
I love Doom and I also love Flight Simulator. Doesn’t make them competitors. Plus, Cyberpunk 2077 is like the most overhyped game of the last few years, everyone is gonna be trying that, not just “arpg players”. Doesn’t make it a concurrent of every videogame ever though.
That’s not gonna happen. Give up.
There are plenty of games today that are amazing at launch too.
Hell Overwatch was great at launch and only got worse when Blizzard decided to start messing it up by catering to the esports crowd because they wanted a game that was funner to watch than it was to play.
Not every, but Diablo crowd would be definitely in its range if they add a lot of stuff to grind for.
So, what do you suggest? They make the best Diablo 4 they can and release it in 2025, profit only from sales and start working on Diablo 5?
By your logic, nobody would be playing PoE since games like Warframe and Destiny 2 exist and have bigger player bases and higher production value. Being “grindy” doesn’t automatically put them under the same target audience.
Or, just maybe people can play more than one game. I know it’s a hard concept to grasp. CPO wont infringe on Diablo. Just like stated above, PoE would have no players due to other bigger games.
Take as long a they need to make it the best game they can. It’s also noted they’re going to have things like cosmetic micro-transactions, and probably a future expansion or DLC both of which will provide a revenue stream post-launch.
Then yes, make Diablo 5.
Personally I’m sick of the “10 years live service” thing.
I don’t play games to grind just because there is a grind. It needs to be fun. And by all means, CP looks like futuristic Witcher, so that makes it a hard pass by me. Plus, not a big fan of uber crunching transphobic companies.
Not quite, from what I’ve seen it’s more of a more actioney Deus Ex on a big world
I know I’m probably gonna derail the thread but I keep seeing this pop up and I need somebody to explain this to me.
The transphobic part. I already know about the “Crunch is a failure of the management, loljk we’re gonna crunch” part.
They’ve done some… Inelegant, to say the least, marketing stunts on twitter that were not well received by the trans community. Including the edgy 14 year old “did you just assume my gender?” attempt at comedy.
Someone flag this stupid thread for deletion already…
Yes, however the picture isn’t that black and white. We live in a twilight world. Online games have many similarities between them and a single big update may draw many players to a certain game.
Yes, that makes it even more important Diablo 4 to be released first - drag that player base and don’t lose it.
And when they release it, no one will play it simply because it would be outdated and there will be far better games on the market.
You don’t cook a recipe until it’s perfect. You cook it as long as it’s needed, a perfect result would just mean you are a great cook.
No you don’t get it.
People can/will play more than one game. At the same time. Diablo 4 releasing first or later isn’t gonna change that.
Diablo-likes have always found their marketing niche as a secondary game to whatever else the players are currently playing (save for a minority of very hardcore ladder grinders).
