Altar Removed Why

Is it just me that feel it that way. why in the hell remove the Alter after the season, the Alter was a part of the game now so why Remove it, its so damn stupid. i real get enough of Blizzard now. becurse you cant add something to the game and after Remove it again. there are so many ways to do less dmg. but removing something some are added to the game, is a no go.

The Altar is coming back in S30. They are going to do some tweaks to it first.

The QoL upgrades were fantastic but there were also some things that should not remain permanent like the CC immunity and passability.

That’s a bold move (like the text in your opening post). I’m sure it’ll teach Blizzard a lesson.

the double duration kill streak and no level requirement should stay.

They already gave a clear answer on that though.

Not sure this is rocket science, but here goes: the Altar was the season theme. The season is over. The theme is done. The Altar is gone.

They have one more season theme to toss at us, and then they will return the Altar because everyone loved it, and then it will be permanent. But we will not get any new season themes, so there is that too.

Where can i find it becurse i cant find it

“Minor changes” is all I’ve seen, and with it being subjective, it’s difficult to know what it means.

I can’t see them negating entire game mechanics like body/object blocking (Passability) or negating every CC affix (CC immunity), as examples.

i have played diablo 3 since the beta days and always when a season ends all season stuff are moved over to non season, so why not now

That’s not completely accurate.

Your character and everything associated with it (XP, inventory, stash, follower, etc) moves over.

However, the seasonal themes (the Alter in this case) has only become part of the base game on very rare occasion.

So you still have all your Ethereal weapons then? Lucky you

No it doesn’t. We don’t have the 4th cube slot. We don’t have the soul shards. We don’t have the angelic crucibles. we don’t have lots of the seasonal theme items. But we get some, like the screams, and we got the Legacy of Dreams gem, and we will eventually get the Altar.

I just hope that if we play through Season 30 and unlock the Seals and Potions for the Altar of Rites, it carries over to non-Season; like Kanai’s Cube Extracts. Otherwise, we’ll have to unlock the Altar twice. Which wouldn’t be so bad except for that damn Gibbering Gemstone and farming 6 Primal items that are salvageable.

Sounds like you started playing at the age of 12 and you haven’t matured one bit.

I certainly feel the loss of the thing, I will say that.

Man. Even with a million more sheet damage thanks to combinations of the best of my gear, I was taking twice as long to clear the same GR level that I used to speed farm with the Altar! lol

Still. It was a LOT of things it did.

Sounds like you haven’t played seasons at all.

You don’t read seasonal patch notes I guess.

I suspect we’ll need to unlock it every season… so I sure hope they remove the staff of herding requirement… I’d happily just sacrifice a health potion instead

I’m actually hoping S30 won’t have a new cosmetic and won’t be repeating a good theme… that way I can spend time in NS where I’ll unlock the Altar and level up my red soul shard gem to max level. It’s the last leg gem in my collection that isn’t max level.

The kill streak is fine, but they need to improve the implementation of the level requirement removal.

I mentioned earlier that the level requirement removal implementation is buggy. I think the way they did it was to simply make the game think that your character was actually level 70 and then just changed the text on items. I believe this because of 2 things:

  1. On entering an area at level 10 (I found a Gem Hoarder) I found that the game would award XP as one would expect with a level 1 character being power-leveled in a level 70 T6 game. But after a couple of minutes, that huge XP game would disappear, and drop to the level that you would expect when playing a level 70 character in a level 70 T6 game.

  2. The Follower cannot equip any of this gear that clearly says “Level 1 Required.”

I don’t know why they did it like this, but it must’ve been easier than modifying each item to make it believe it’s level requirement had been removed with a Gem of Ease, or to enable them to remove that modification at the end of the Season. It was probably much easier to simply make the game think that your character was level 70 and modify the text on the display window of the item.

I spent a lot of time during the Season collecting various different items that I could use after the Season to have fun leveling up new characters. Alas, that was not to be. I think once an item has its level requirement removed, it should stay removed. They can probably do that if they change the method from whatever they used last Season to an automatic modification by the Gem of Ease that is persistent.

Lastly, the Blacksmith should remember the original level requirement of each item, so that when it comes time to make something for the Follower, we will know which item to make that the Follower can actually equip. If the implementation of the level requirement removed stays the same, it would be nice to know if the Follower can equip the item I’m making. As it is, I may have to make at least 2 things, or maybe 3, before I zero in on the right level.

It is amazing that one thing that was almost universally applauded was the altar and then it goes missing. Maybe it comes back, probably will, but the loss of QoL after a taste of it is a pretty big slap in the face.
