Altar Removed Why

The Altar will come back in All Modes as of Season 30. It is not a “slap in the face”.
Sit out S29 if you don’t like it.

I can no longer play D3 unless I have the Altar to do everything for me. :sob:

Not really bring on S29 it should be fun for the first few weeks.

I love it when these "I have played Diablo . . . . . . . " just make stuff up.

In S28 the altar was not removing the item level requirement (since the followers couldn’t wear lvl 70 items at lvl 1), it just allowed our toons to wear lvl 70 items at lvl 1.

Also, it’s so easy to level Gems of Ease to lvl 25 if you really want a set of gear in non-season to have fun with leveling new toons to 70.
Although, at P800ish with like 3-4 items set up for toon leveling I did that in 5-10 minutes solo anyway (Hellfire amulet, Hellfire Ring, Leoric’s Signet, Leoric’s Crown with Ruby, Goldskin and Custerian Wristguards + Weapon with Gem of Ease - Boon of the Hoarder… )

Exactly. There were also lots of false bug reports about how the Altar made it impossible to progress the journey when everything was “level 1”.

All of the time? You mean like the screams and if you want to count it the LoD gem and then… uhm… that’s it. We’ve had like 11 season themes and being nice we can say 2 themes ever moved over.

Yes, every Season would require unlocking the Altar of Rites.

What I meant was:

  1. Unlock the Altar of Rites for Season 30.
  2. Unlock the Altar of Rites for non-Season.

That would be “twice”.

But:

Then, we would only need to unlock the Altar for Season 30. At the end of the Season, if the Altar carries over to non-Season, then the Altar would already be unlocked for non-Season. That would be “once”.

Only subsequent Seasons would need to unlock the Altar…  again. The non-Season Altar would remain unlocked permanently.

That’s your choice. And, in that case, you’ll end up unlocking your non-Season Altar and the next Season, you participate in, Altar. That would be “twice”. (Plus subsequent Seasons’ Altar — Just to be clear).

Except, the item has not changed. It’s an effect of the Altar of Rites. And without the Altar, the effect no longer exists.

He does. If you craft a Level 70 item, you get a Level 70 item. If you’ve unlocked the Anointed Seal it just says Required Level: 1. If you try to equip that item on your Follower and they are not Level 70, then they won’t be able to equip it.

Personally, I think that unlocking the Anointed Seal should apply to our Characters and the Followers. That would solve all but one of the problems with this issue.

And this is the other problem. It boils down to “know thy [items]”.

You want to upgrade some Rare items? They must be Level 70.

  • Level 70 Rare items start with the prefix Sovereign.
  • Level 70 Scythes start with the prefix Grandmaster.
  • Level 70 Phylacteries start with the prefix Embalming.

You want to craft some Sets?

  • Sage’s Plight is Level 60.
  • Sage’s Journey is Level 70. (Double Death’s Breaths).

  • Cain’s Fate is Level 23.
  • Cain’s Destiny is Level 70. (Extra Greater Rift Key).

Granted, there may be some items, especially crafted Legendary items, that some of us don’t remember what Level they are. But, you can always tab out and look them up in the D3 Game Guide before crafting.

As far as drops go, they will mostly be the current Level of your Character. There is a point where some items may drop 1 or 2 Levels higher than your Character. But, you should quickly gain those Levels.

TL:DR Make the Anointed Seal apply to Characters and Followers!

I mean, how long does it take to reach Level 70 anyway?

  • Skilled groups can do it in a matter of minutes.
  • Unskilled SSF players can do it in a few hours. (I’m using myself as an example).

Yeah and the answer is bad just like how most choices for D4 were bad.

It’s almost like they want people to quit playing and they hate that we actually enjoy an older game more than the newer one.

Skipping a season to “make tweaks” to the Altar is illogical since EVERYONE liked it and they can make said changes and apply them IN THE NEXT SEASON instead of making us wait for the best mechanic to be introduced since the expansion drop.

Bad choices are bad choices, no other way to go about that, seems Blizzard is full of bad choices lately like not listening to the players, which is what all successful older games are doing and have been doing and it’s working perfectly for them.

Well, having the altar powers as they where in conjunction with season 29 would be counterproductive. The altar gives massive power creep and massive advantages to the leveling, both things that season 29 actively tries to restrain.

So yeah, it’s entirely logical to not have it.

You can by all means think it’s a bad idea to not have it, but you really can’t fault the logic.

Well, I argued for the altar to not be made permanent at all as I think it’s way to much power creep as it is, let alone in combination with other themes. But I guess we will see how much it’s nerfed before it’s made permanent.

Lol, you threatened Blizz to not play the game any longer. Do you think Blizz care ??? . Go ahead make their day … This game is already on its last leg , nobody cares …
SMH, OP can not even wait for 1 more season to get his altar
