Altar of Rites possibly permanent?

As far as I am aware a season feature was only made core once, but this one seems like it has a little too much work put into it to just be a 4 month last hurrah before the game is permanently put on the back burner. Anyone think this might just stay in the game as a final progression path afterwards??

Some features yes, maybe primordial ashes / primal recipe.

Other powers are past seasonal themes and soul shard affixes/powers. It shouldnt becoming permanent. If its meant to be permanent, those powers would be permanent already.

They made a new user interface from scratch for all of this. I wouldn’t speak too soon but as stated from the Preview some powers intended to last for “a season”. This implies that it will most likely be gone the moment season 28 ends.

Yeah it was the creation of the UI specifically that raised my eyebrows, but looking at the powers closer I tend to think maybe not.

Some QOL might stay. We’ll see.

It is way too strong to be permanent

As a whole the Altar should not stay, gives too much power. However certain seals provide some QoL improvements which should become permanent, like pets picking DBs, uncapped movement speed, etc.

Ditch the power, keep the utility.

I hope that at least the pets picking up / salvage stuff will remain after season.

Higher chance at kadala wouldn’t be bad nor game breaking either to stay after season.

Many buffs seem based on existing stuff, even prior season buffs or themes.

It would be good to apply many of those powerful buffs to solo play to close the gap with group play a bit.

This isn’t the final version yet. It may change. And off course the nerf hammer will visit before go live…

In its current form, it’s too powerful to coexist with a separate seasonal theme, but I hope that much of it will remain - the utility, the increased drops and maybe a bit of the power.

I hope so, but after D4’s release, would it matter?

I wouldn’t be surprised if it became a permanent seasonal feature.

There is no too much power in my book.
It would be nice to get to the higher GR tiers solo without having to grind obscene amounts of paragon points.

maybe the altar will stay but they’ll just reset it every season.

They could also easily keep the tree but tone down the strongest benefits. Quality of life unlocks might be unchanged, while +15% damage could be turned into +1%, etc.

+15% damage is considered too strong? Oh god, the fun police is here.

They put QOL features that were long asked for into this altar feature. That means that it’s virtually guaranteed that at at least some powers will remain after S28 finishes.

I hope so. This is the direction the game should go in for sure.

I actually wouldn’t mind if they were to create a renewed paragon system or something a-like from this and make it permanent. At the very exception of each Altar or unlock has to be personalized for the character. If I have unlocked W and X at my Barbarian, then my other Barbarian has to await to unlock J and O to reach there.
I would be fine with that system but it looks like a hassle to get it balanced or right. Too many passive benefits and some even overpowering so it better stay at Seasons if there’s no tweak possible.

things like pets picking up db’s and also salvaging common, magic, rare items should stay…those should’ve been in the game since day one

Blizzard needs to keep D3 for testing ideas to see if they will work for D4. There will be more season after 28, just don’t expect anything ‘super cool,’ unless it’s a ‘passion idea’ that a dev is ‘dying’ to see implemented.
