Altar of Rites possibly permanent?

Is it though? Idk looks pretty balanced to me, it’s mainly QoL buffs. Okay the potions are strong and we’ll have to wait till PTR to see exactly how they work but I really think players deserve more than +5 main stat for progression, it gets beyond stale.

I’ll go back to D2 to grind a lot of times only because it’s like okay I can spend a few hours to get +50 main stat or I can get a GG life skiller, what sounds more satisfying and impactful, gee I wonder? This game sorely needs better progression after gearing and this certainly fills the gap.

You could do just like this season, lower the power but keep it in place. We’re getting targeted primal gear now just like sanctified but without the sanctified powers, something similar could be done.

I reckon it should stay, it looks like an interesting progression system to work through alongside the seasonal journey.

With that much work put into it I would be shocked if it did not stay in some format. Some mild buffs but the things we have been asking for the last 10 years, QoL changes. Finally and thank god almighty. It will be a welcome addition to the base game.

Why would you be shocked? It probably won’t stay. They have f.e. not casted any of the S27 “powers” on iron. Even they had some pretty decent ones, that were in no way op.

@Alter of Rites beeing Op
It’s not overpowered and gives less power than the last 3 season themes. Okay it depends how strong the Triune buff is and how long the effects of Pylons/Shrines are active.

Should be permanent. With significant nerfs of course. Or maybe just throw out Paragon and replace it with an extended version of this system.

The QoL will be perm, mark my words…

I was thinking the same thing, that it probably may be permanent.

In terms of power, we’ve already had consistent power creeps.

Let’s look at the 1000th player GR for example on EU:

Season DH Barbarian Crusader Monk Witch Doctor Wizard Necromancer
1 43 41 40 41 37 39
5 77 77 82 75 78 81
10 92 80 86 84 87 95
15 101 97 105 100 92 102 102
20 110 125 125 120 130 119 110
27 138 135 129 147 120 142 137

With only a few exceptions due to a season theme benefitting a class, there’s been a major power creep. And the Altar of Rifts probably isn’t going to increase the creep that much.

The other thing, which has already been stated, the Witch Doctor needs to get some love. The new season’s theme isn’t helping it any.

Very good idea you have.

i think it would be nice permanent if they remove maybe the potions the rest seems quite nice as permanent

Not going to happen, unfortunately. Any attempts to do so in the past have made it too powerful and just plain stupid. Since there isn’t a middleground for the WD, no love for Dr. Shakey.

I am thinking it will stay in some form. Even if only the QoL things. I think it is actually a really cool thing to give us something to hunt for. But that would also mean if it stays it should be a bit harder to unlock everything than it is now.

The only thing that will take any real investment is the Staff of Herding and if you are like me the only other change is the ancient Hellfire Amulet (Since I always only do the one for the journey). But it is a really cool theme in my opinion.

Maybe I am wrong but I am reading it as not part of the season theme at all. There is a little “page break” line between it and season theme as well as the header being the same kind as with every separate section.

Wording is unclear. But the implied msg is its part of seasonal theme. After all, primordial ashes is highly related to seasonal unlocking seals. Couple days till PTR anyway.

Season 28 is just a 4 to 5 month ptr for the changes rax asked for . On a serious note, I do hope the utility and QoL aspects of the seasonal theme do stick around.

I agree, I thought primordial ash and the new recipe were going to be permanent.

Meh, at this point, why even nerf it? With D4 around the corner, give people something to make themselves powerful or feel powerful going forward. I can see nerfing if some feature allows average players to coast to 150 clears on a regular basis.

20 years later a remaster will be made, no need to leave the game in its worst state to carry into that remaster, D2 style :stuck_out_tongue:

In 2032, for the 20 year remaster, D3 will be VR. Enjoy the exercise.

i hope it stays but the buff to bounty mats should be solo only

I can’t wait to see all the news reports of people whirl winding themselves to death playing spin to win in VR D3.

Ugh, I am now on the ‘Retcon Cains death!’ team. Instead add him as a class for old people in wheelchairs for the D3 VR Remassacred.
