I’m just playing strafe this season and I didn’t plan my build ahead ( I like my journey to be somewhat “wild”) and was surprised to see that strafe has barely any items :frowning: Gonna continue playing though and see where I will get.

I agree Strafe needs some love as a main damage source.

I remember playing it in Vanilla/RoS with FoK, I tried to make a build when the 2 crossbows had multiplier… Well the result was pretty bad…

We have already 2 1H crossbows supporting it:
Valla’s Bequest and K’Mar Tenclip.
They need some tweaks with %strafe damage, but I don’t think adding another 1H CB would be a solution, since Dawn is preominant. (And it can allow ressource management.)

I would see a Bracer/Belt with it, since we have Channeling Mantle as shoulders. The idea about IAS is pretty neat IMO!

  • About Mirrorball/Signature skills:
    They are really weak actually, I have seen some build with Spectral Blades for T16 farming, but they usually rely on Manald’s proc.

If I can throw some additional ideas into the discussion:

The Horadric Hamburger
Allow this weapon to roll life per second affixes. (I believe it already can on console versions) Add legendary power: Your life per second increases by 1% per point of vitality you have. This will allow builds based on the Death’s Bargain item to scale with paragon.

Insatiable Belt
Modify legendary power: Picking up a Health Globe increases your maximum life by 10% for 15 seconds, stacking up to 5 times. You no longer heal from picking up Health Globes. This will enable builds that prefer to remain at low-life to do so during group play.

Blackthorne’s Set:
2p: +500 vitality. increase maximum life by 20%.
3p: Each point of vitality you have increases all your resistances by 1. Increase all damage dealt by your total life bonus.
4p: You are immune to desecrator, molten, and plagued ground effects. All skills have a proc coefficient of 2.0. (double listed proc chance per hit)
This will allow Blackthorne’s Set items to be an alternative to Captain Crimson’s Set items for builds that don’t rely on cooldown or resource reduction. It also becomes an enablement set for proc based builds, which currently are in a sad state.

Band of Rue Chambers
Modify legendary power: Your spirit generators generate 50% more spirit. You take 50% less damage. This is solely a bandaid fix to the problem of Monk builds relying on Unity.

Spectrum
Add legendary power: Proc effects benefit from all elemental damage bonuses regardless of element. This frees up proc based builds to combine any proc effects even if their elements don’t match. It also becomes a constant damage boost when combined with Convention of Elements.

New Necro Set Idea:
2p: Revive gains the effects of all runes.
4p: While you have at least 1 Revive minion, 50% of received damage is instead transferred to a random Revive minion.
6p: Bone Spirit deals x% increased damage. Any enemy under the effects of Fear takes damage from all active Bone Spirits every second.
This will give a new Revive + Bone Spirit playstyle and turn Fear into a useful mechanic for spreading Bone Spirit’s damage in an area of effect.

Pandemonium Loop
Increase the radius of the cascading Fear effect. This will act as an enablement item to the new Revive + Bone Spirit set I detailed above.

Maloth’s Focus
Modify the legendary power: Enemies occasionally flee at the sight of this staff. Enemies under the effects of Fear take x% more damage from all sources. This will provide a damage support item for Fear based builds.

That’s all I have for now. I’d love to hear feedback on what others think of these.

Madawc’s Determination
Barbarian Set
Standard 6 set slots.

2-Piece:
Generators gain 25% attack speed.
Using a Generator lowers the cooldown of Wrath of the Berserker by 1 sec.

4-Piece:
Generators deal 250% increased critical hit damage.
Generators have 25% increased critical hit chance.

6-Piece: Increase the damage of all Generators by 10.000%

Madawc’s Sorrow:
Added Legendary Power: Weapon Throw deals 400% increased damage.

Undisputed Champion:
Secondary Affix: Frenzy deals 100% more damage.
Added Legendary Power: Frenzy Maniac can now stack 50 times.

Bastion’s Revered
Secondary Affix: Generators deal 250% increased Critical Hit Damage.
Add to Legendary Power:
Frenzy stacks last for 10 seconds.

That looks interesting. But you forget about the built in damage reduction, every other sets has damage reduction.

And i think you can also put overpower skill in the set, and maybe shouts as well. They would work fine together.

how about allowing a 7% melee or ranged dmg reduction roll on pants as secondary for a little more depth?

Actually left out the damage reduction on purpose, wrote it quite fast so haven’t done any maths at all, but I think a set like that could do without the DR (Band of Might and easy perma WotB without Zodiac so one slot free), might need some tweaking there though, but I think it can get enough DR and has a very good healing potential ( Vambraces of Sescheron and Simplicity Strength both offer strong healing in the build and Simplicity Strength is best in slot anyway).

Actually had Overpower in it, but removed it because I don’t want a manditory skill and couldn’t think of a good way to fit it in without so being manditory and still a good option (and had a flight to catch so couldn’t think about it to long :P).
Though if I think of a way I’ll add it / rework the set a little if needed.
Feel free to tinker with the set if you can have an interesting way to insert Overpower into the set.
Also played with the idea of auto-casting Vengeance, but same issue and Overpower feels more correct in the set so would prefer that one.

Like the idea of more missile, but I do see possible problems.
To deal the same amount of damage as the additional 200% for each mirror image, 24 additional missiles are needed (so 6 per mirror image) which;
Requires some reprogramming on a visual level as well as just changing numbers.
Will make most missiles miss unless using seeker (and making this the only viable rune) or place all missiles very close to each other removing the mass missile sensation.
Might actually cause lag for many people.

Not a programmer, so can’t really say how much effort this will take or if it will really cause lag, so maybe those issues are not as bad as I fear they might be.
The Seeker only option or negate the feeling of many missiles will probably be an issue and might need some tinkering to avoid.

I do like the idea of mass missiles though, so if it can be done without issues I’m all for it.
Maybe a second item or change Mirrorball something in the line of - Magic Missile fires 2 additional missiles, plus 1 for each active mirror image and Magic Missile deals 75% additional damage for each active mirror image

I think +25% crit change is too much. May be +25% life steal might be a better choice, or reduce damage taken by 15%/25% for 5 seconds, stack up to 75% (max
5/3 times consercutively).

50 times is too much, 250% damage bonus for all sources is too op for a single item. 10 times like now is enough I think.

Personally I would love to see just a little more Crusader love, specifically more buffs/benefits for successful shield blocks and using support skills.

I know we JUST got a new set (and it’s wonderful) but it would really be awesome if say there was a new legendary shield that could go over the 75% cap and maybe a slew of other shield buffs? Like how about bonus damage on Helm of Rule whenever you block a hit? Or something that gives a chance to completely negate the damage on a block?

I just hate how EVERYTHING is all about the dps in this game. Some legit tank and support love would be appreciated.

No, pls. We Barbs’ve just gotten out of tank and support role in YEARS. We want to be dps! If you want to play tank or sp you can play zBarb or zMonk instead.

The idea was really about utilizing mirror image as a pre-requisite to buff or increase the damage of certain skill.

Honestly, I believe the next wizard set could be about utilizing mirror image, hydra and maybe diamond skin as well. We’ll see.

Greetings friend! I too love them shields! But the thing is that they are so many unblockable damage/affixes in the game. And more often than not, those affixes are the most deadliest.

Have you check the first post about The mortal drama buff?
I was thinking about a classic primary - spender build with bombardment as nuke. What’s your opinion about that?

Lifesteal is not really an addition to the set, Simplicity Strength is the obvious legendary gem for the build and already lets you regain 4% of max health each hit and with optional bracers that give an addition 6% life gain is not what is needed.
Max of 75% DR might make the build almost impossible to kill, barbarian also has Band of Might for 80%, this build free perma Zerk for another 50% and free high life gain.
But as I said haven’t done any extensive math yet, might overestimate the toughness of the set.

Have I forgotten some item that doubles the bonus of Maniac?
The rune adds 2,5% for each frenzy stack, to a total of 125%.
Didn’t hold into account that is was to all damage though, its not meant to be a boost for other builds, making frenzy a mandatory skill for damage buffing build.
Still you do need to keep up those stacks for the damage and Frenzy needs a damage buff to make give it similar DPS as the other 3 generators, so if this goes another buff is needed and I prefer adding buffs other than static flat multipliers if possible.
Numbers however as with all item are not set in stone, I just used the numbers to bring the dps of the all generators on roughly the same level (Bash and Cleave have items that require certain styles, but hit more enemies than Frenzy and Weapon Throw so that would more or less make up for the additional skill/item needed).

In high lvl rift 75-80% dr is clearly not enough. After grift 115 with the Blood Funnel rune in WW, which provides great lifesteal I’m still struggle with defenses. I must have Ignore Pain, Band of Might proc and Wraith of the Beserker on all the times to survive. Only one of those drops and I die instantly, even from weakest trash ( I already socket all white gems on my gears, and not counted 60% dr from WotW set). That’s why I proposed an additional 75% dr to the set.

How about something in this direction (haven’t played Wizard for a long time so numbers are just fillers).
Also not sure if the absorption of Diamond Skin counts as a shield, but as far as I could find in a quick search it’s affected by Ashnagarr’s Blood Bracers so I presume it does.

Regalia of the trickster (probably needs a new name, best I could come up with on the fly).
Wizard Set
Standard 6 set slots.

2-Piece:
Mirror Images last until they die.
Diamond Skin lasts until depleted.
Whenever you cast Diamond skin, all your Mirror Images gain a copy of your Diamond Skin.

4-Piece:
Diamond Skin shield value is increased by 50% for each active Mirror Image you have.

6-Piece:
Each active Mirror Image increases the damage of your Primary Skills, Diamond Skin, Mirror Image and Hydra by 2000%.

Mirrorball
New Legendary Power: Mirror Image gains the effect of Duplicates and Mocking Demise. Mirror Images count as Pets for all intent and purposes.

Serpent Sparker
Reworked Legendary Power: Increase the damage (including DoT) of Hydra by 200%

New Legendary Wand.
Tiamat’s Fury

Legendary Power:
Whenever you cast Hydra, you summon 5 Hydra’s, one of each rune.
You may only have these 5 active at any moment, recasting Hydra will summon 5 new Hydra’s and dispell the previous 5.

Singularity (personally would rename the orb, keeping the name Singularity for a Black Hole based item)
New Legendary Power
Magic missile fires 4 extra missiles and it’s damage increased by 400-450%

See your point, but the top of the leaderboard is all without Ignore Pain and they use a Zodiac and a Band of Might, this set would have Band of Might and free WotB so one free ring slot, which could be used on Unity to replace the 50% DR normally given by the set.
If I have time I will do some number crunching on DR’s given by items worn by the set (including the Taekuk armor etc) and then see how far you would get with a similar build with the set stats (and open ring slot).
Maybe some DR is needed to give a similar result.

Hellfire Ring

Gain one random passive skill.
