Why Economy Arguments are Utter Garbage (in regards to P8)

Then any of these changes won’t affect you.

I think I’m starting to figure out the mindset of p8 online people. They seem to think that unless you are optimizing drop and exp potential to the absolute highest possible efficiency, the game is broken and needs fixed. Delusional…

Whoever said anything about playing together? I just want them in public games. It’s already hard enough to find anyone to chat with while playing on D2.

It’s already like two nerds trying to hook up. Do you want to make it like two nerds trying to hook up without the internet?

The argument of people who are against it always talk about the economy and how it breaks things. So i am simply countering it with the same logic.

Right, and what i am asking is to INCREASE the reward for people doing content together rather than separate. Completely rework the player count system so that it is actually better for me to farm with Randos or friends, then it is for me to farm solo.

Actually your argument would be one less player farming p8 playing D2. That would be GOOD for the economy of those players opposed to it. We don’t want you playing lol.

The difficulty of the game is unfortunately tuned at P8 for only 1-3 person group play thus grouping with any more people than that is just a snooze fest because monsters die before they even get on the screen and because like you said, the loot system does not incentivize group play. I don’t think people would group for loot very long if difficulty settings are not addressed. I think most ppl lose interest in a game if it becomes mind-numbingly easy even if you get a good amount of loot.

Sounds like my thoughts on the manaburn and viper nerfs + class buffs.

You talk to me as if i didn’t play D2 years ago. I did.

What does that have to do with anything? If anything you are countering your own argument. You’ve played for years without /players 8. I guess you can just keep on playing for more years without it.

I mean at least my argument makes sense. I’ve played D2 for years without changes, and I like it just fine. If I didn’t why would I still be playing. That’s just silly.

p1 or p8 doesn’t change my kill speed, 54k lightning damage with an infinity merc, everything dies 1-3 shots (except Baal and the Ubers), like many other p8 would greatly benefit me as it would not change my run speed (other than Baal by 3-7 seconds), and would admittedly crash the economy in D2.

IMO p8 should be left limited to offline, it’s a risk reward playing with other people to gain the benefits of p8.

I’m not asking for /players online. I’m saying they need to rework the whole damn system. But i think the arguments that you all have against /players is incorrect.

Personally, I like the viper/manaburn nerfs (altho they added a spice to the game that I dearly miss, you know, a bit of danger, now only souls with conviction and dolls with cursed/iron skin are dangerous).

/players online is equivalent to nerfing vipers and manaburn (granted they were bugs that were fixed), it was not, and still isn’t needed.

I don’t think you understand how much having /players on bnet would hurt build variety, farm location diversity, player interaction, and economy. I also don’t think you are being honest with yourself or us.

What I think is you want to farm p8 pits/at to make the game easier on yourself. Which would be about all left to the game with /players added.

This is the best point made in the thread, and probably the reason so many people want /players8 online, well said.

Those early act 85 areas are the only reason you’d farm on p7/p8. That and LK chests.

I’d rather not see the game reduced to that. Anyone not farming freaken fallens and zombies 24/7 would fall soooo far behind.

I agree, and personally, I think they should revert the vipers (make them a threat again), and roll back the manaburn fix, make people work for things, like we have been, for 20 years.

Agreed. Honestly I’d be fine if they just reduced it a “bit” but they made vipers do absolutely zero damage, and mana burn entirely irrelevant.

Blizzard doesn’t seem to understand the difference in a 25% nerf… and a 95% nerf.

I think reimplementing TCP/IP would be a good and much more likely solution as opposed to the /players command on Bnet.

Solves this problem by allowing you to play with a friend or two on any player count, being able to multiplayer/trade with SP characters, no dependancy on Bnet servers so can play even when the servers are down or acting up, also enabling the option of modded multiplayer.

So many pros going for TCP/IP.

It would be even better fi you could clone your bnet characters over to single player.
(Unless this is already a thing, I don’t really play offline :P)
