Why Economy Arguments are Utter Garbage (in regards to P8)

So while indeed it is a 2.3x increase, neither does clearing p8 mlvl85 areas qualify as “bads putting in no work” nor does 1:479,423 odds qualify as “raining like candy”.

Someone is getting paid $15 an hour. Does a $19.29 an hour raise sound like a reasonable increase for “showing up?” No… no it doesn’t.

Why do people just insist on coming up with reasons to play the game less? Boggles my mind. You can beat the game naked. Stop trying to crap on my slot machine mini game. Literally all the game has going for it.

They already made it nearly impossible to die, annis fall like manna from the sky… we don’t need anything else making it easier christ.

What’s next you get a free torch for completing den of evil? Nerf ubers? Make the inventory larger so we can stack charms harder? Maybe you should get Jah Ith Ber for rescuing the barbs. (I actually saw someone suggest that one…)

I don’t mind “balancing” but why does every change have to be “buff player” “nerf mobs” And people asking for faster xp, and more drops…

just so you know the humans u whant so much to interact whit just join chaos or baal run games and go farm keys, andy or mephisto and never talk to you or annyone so they just block actual player that u would talk to from joining ur games… u should be asking for p8 if you really whant more human interaction like that the “anti socials” people like me would not have to join your games to farm and never talk to you lul

Yeah but I can always just kill you. That’s at least interaction.

lol have fun stoping what ur doing just to check every farming spot to find where i am just to make me quit the game when u get close… thats really the type of interaction ur playing for ?

Yes. It really is. Sounds fun. Beats the hell outta farming pits on p8 on a FoHadin. Is that the “interaction” you are looking for? Cause we already have that. It’s called single player.

so you whant more people playing solo or more people to play whit in your games ?

Less people like you playing period probably. Also lets be real, you can’t shut up on here, so you’d probably not shut up in game either.

ur the one whit 1110 post not me. on that have a good one mr.just looking to disagree whit everyone

Ehh I’d put money on this being your second or third account. You seem like the type.

Because the modern gamer is a cesspit of self inflicted apathy, a loathsome lethargic beggar, suckling on the tit of small releases of dopamine. Forever bound to their own inescapable desire for instant gratification.

Gone are the days of gaming being a refreshing offroad adventure. Now the handheld, coddling of AAA developers reigns supreme, driven by fear of their shareholders, endeavor to indulge gamers in their every feckless whim. This inevitably leads to gamers feeling that their whining entitlement is synonymous with good game design.

After all, why shouldn’t gamers design their own experience? Even if that experience has been watered down. They believe their “revolutionary” suggestions are the next tactical air superiority fighter, but they’ve never stopped to realize they’ve reduced themselves to the motorized quarter machine for children at the entrances to grocery stores.

Meanwhile the gamers that remember what an actual symbiosis between struggle and design felt like are desperately clawing to escape the safe, appeasing, toy car and back into their AE86.

So here we are, on the forums doing just that, all while desperately trying to avoid an aneurysm everytime one of these lightweights, in an endless sea of indulgent epiphanies, thinks of an improvement to something already solidly proven.

And yet more hyperbole. And slippery slope (what next?).

If all the game has going for it, for you, is the slot machine "minigame (your words), then maybe the actual game isn’t so great and instead of bashing players who want to improve the actual game maybe you should just download a mobile slots game.

It’s not at all without irony that the comparison you make to suggestions for improved drops for improved challenge in a game is to a job increasing from an unlivable minimum wage to a livable wage (which you consider unacceptable), and that you deliberately misrepresent the arguments as players wanting free loot for standing around when the entire discussion is about playing the game solo on the highest possible non-artificial difficulty (the opposite of “asking to nerf mobs”).

The level of nonsense you spout really makes one wonder why you’re so crotchety and where that comes from, really.

Every time I hear someone cite “slippery slope” being a logic fallacy I know they aren’t going to have anything worthwhile to say. If you seriously think learning from history, and observing trends isn’t useful information then there is no helping you. You just cite that crap because you were brainwashed to cite it. Think for yourself.

And FYI believing “slippery slope” as a fallacy because someone in authority told you to believe it then using that as the basis of your argument is effectively an “appeal to authority” fallacy.

Which is why that whole train of thought is a load of crock used by people that want to argue in a bubble rather than correlating the surrounding data. It’s effectively trying to sound intelligent while holding up a sign labeled “I’m an idiot.”

Also if you think $15 an hour isn’t a livable wage, and that it takes $34.29 an hour to equal a livable wage then your entire viewpoint makes sense… from the perspective of one spoiled brat of a human being. Do yo have any idea how cheap land is in parts of the US? You can buy land at under $500 an acre. Need a home? Build one. It’s actually not that hard. Assuming you have things like family and friends of course.

But no you think $34 an hour is what it takes to earn a “livable” wage, because you expect things handed to you.

Except that is not happening.

One is not being rewarded for time in game per se but monsters kills and subsequent drops… You are not being paid to show up but to complete a project.

Your complaint misses the poimt that one project is smaller with less reward while the other projevt is more difficult with increased compensation for more effort.

If one charged $200 to install 100 feet of fence versus $500 to install 450 feet of fence, would you say that the latter was just showing up or would you recognize that one is doing more to earn that higher amount?

In D2R, the reward is 2.5x to kill monsters with 4.5x health.

There is lfewer rewards per monster hp. The reason that higher p become attractive is if one can easily kill p1.

lol pure irony coming from someone who doesn’t understand the market. The market ADAPTS. If the asking price and buying match doesn’t match, the item will remain unsold until the prices eventually meet.

You missed my point ENTIRELY. I’m saying that it doesn’t matter if prices drop or rise for items. If it rises, great. If it drops, great. That’s just the nature of the market.

Items will eventually be sold once buyers and sellers agree on a certain price.

Still the same people wanting p8 so they can Get gear/runes faster to sell for real money…

You have no reasonable logic, nor historical trends, to support an argument that suggests players asking for access to the highest difficulty setting and corresponding reward schedule will lead to torches for den of evil, Enigma for prisoners, or any other deliberately ridiculous and unfounded claim.

Further, your basis for such ludicrous What Next’s is a deliberate and inane misrepresentation of the p8 argument as one where players want free loot for showing up when in literal actuality they are asking for access to the highest possible difficulty setting and the rewards associated with soloing that difficulty.

$15 is not a livable wage. That’s not what I think, that’s just a fact. Your comparison of a game to a job, as poor as that fundamentally is, speaks volumes. You compare players soloing p8 content to “just showing up” and think it’s unacceptable that they want more than minimum wage loot for doing so because they could survive off minimum wage loot in the Blood Moor.

Seriously, who pissed in your corn flakes that you want everyone to be as miserable as you playing a game like a job?

Right… and yet billions of people manage just fine. Entitled. That’s the kind of stuff you hear from people that pay $6 for a cup of coffee and buy Apple products. My personal monthly expenditures are under $800 a month. You don’t need a $800 phone, $40,000 car, a house in a the burbs in some crowded city, or $20 lunches at a restaurant to live a perfectly “livable” life. All you need it a cheap piece of land, reliable transportation, a comfortable place to lay your head, and some good’ol fashion country cooking.

There are wants, and there are needs. In this example of D2 you want easy xp and loot, all you need is something to pass the time. You expect to walk into a 22 year old game and demand it to be something else because that’s how you work. Less demands and more grinding would do you some good. Cause here is the thing… it doesn’t matter how fast you get xp, or how fast you collect every item. At the end of the day… it’s about the journey.

Exactly. They don’t actually want to play the game.
