Which version of Nvidia GPU driver you guys are using?

Hi guys,

From my experience, Last stable Nvidia GPU driver version is 527.56
Since then, I keep have many issue on D2R, e.g. game exit to desktop suddenly or system crash reboot or freeze.
It won’t happen on other games but D2R only

Which Nvidia GPU driver you guys are using??
I am using 12900K + RTX3090 + DDR4 3200128GB Ram and 1TB Samsung 980Pro with Win11 Pro
I didn’t OC CPU or RAM.
100% not hardware issue as it only happen on D2R…

Wanna gather some other players experience…

Thanks! :wink:

If you’re all of a sudden having issues you could revert to the old driver.

I would recommend using DDU to fully uninstall your driver and then installing the latest driver first though. Then if that doesn’t work use DDU again and go with the last known driver that worked well for you.

Hi. Same issue here. A lot of disconections and Crashes that instantly restart my computer

I have uninstalled all nvidea drivers but it doesnt work :frowning:

I’m using a RTX 3070

Let me be the first to tell you, don’t assume this. It’s a troubleshooting fallacy to think just because “only one” app is currently affected that it is not a hardware issue.

More system information is needed, including your Windows version and build number as well as your current driver. You can get all of the necessary information by following the steps to create a dxdiag file so the information requested can be posted here, or if you prefer, in the techical support forum.

This is a good place to start if a driver issue is suspected. The 3xxx series are somewhat problematic in general depending on the combination of Windows version and driver version.

When replacing nVidia drivers after using DDU, make sure to select the Standard drivers when choosing a version to download from their website. Try to avoid the DCH driver type as the nVidia control panel that comes with those is crippled due to Microsoft Store limitations.

I made this thread yesterday;
FPS seems capped at 30 - help

Driver Date - Feb.8 2023
Driver version - 528.49

128 GB ram yet you skimped on hd space.

May I suggest win 10 as its rock solid stable. Its always wise to wait a couple of years for a new os to mature.

What is your power profile set to? For the 3080/90 and 4080/90 GPUs, even the mobile ones, D2R might not actually be causing the GPU to enter into full speed mode. In other words, it’s idling and you’re losing out on FPS as a result.

If this is the issue then two things need to be done:

  1. Set the Windows power profile to High Performance to prevent the CPU from idling.

  2. Go into the nVidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings and select the D2R.exe entry in the list. If it is not present you will need to add it manually. Once selected, scroll down to Power Management Mode and select Prefer Maximum Performance.

These two settings should force the GPU into its higher clock/boost mode. If you have MSI Afterburner or EVGA’s Precision X1 you can force boost mode there as well. Make sure that if you use one of these apps to force boost mode you also set a higher fan curve profile so your GPU doesn’t overheat and throttle, which is far worse than what you are experiencing now.

Thanks for replying.
I made the changes 1. and 2. - still rolling at 30FPS.
Restarted the machine to dbl check those setting remain…
It’s like something is limiting it… it never goes over 30.

I do not have the programs you mentioned to force boost mode.

Posted this in the thread I made, but thought I’d put it here as well;

Well, I went for broke.
I cranked up all he graphics settings to max… and turned off V-sync… doing so allowed it to run 180+ FPS, often up over 250.
No screen tearing 9but, fans running as high as 43%.
So I set limits to 60FPS, got rather noticeable tearing, so turned V-sync on again… BAM… 30FPS max.

So why would V-sync throttle the game back to 30FPS?

Edit to add;
Settled in on most settings either High or Medium, VXF set to Ultra… framerate cap 102.
No tearing, and fans are running between 19 and 26%.

i read somewhere that vsync cuts fps to half of monitor’s refresh rate when it cant output close to the refresh rate aimed for.

but i run a 165hz monitor with vsync/gsync on and it doesnt cap at 82.5 fps ever so idk lol

Ya, I’m still trying to understand it myself.
My monitor is 30refresh, so, it being capped at 30fps at least makes sense now (?) rather, explains it…
but at 30FPS I get studder/jumpy thing going.
If it is meant to be sync’d, why is it way worse than my mumble-jumble hack-and-error settings so much better?
On top of all that , when I turn freesync on - on my monitor, D2R refuses to run on that monitor and defaults to the one I have not turned freesync on - on.
Like I say, I don’t understand it.

Wish there was a tutorial for dummies.

Yup getting crashes on a little ole rtx 3050.

The biggest problem ive been having is lava in a4 is completely tanking fps after a while.

Makes no sense. The game runs worse on lower graphics settings. Literally said fug it and pumped it to max (with dlss) and the game played better at a stable 60fps for a good hour before the problem started again (which keeps up until restart). But i had no crashes at near max settings (just the same lava problem that occurs eventually no matter what).

There are some memory problems going on with the game. For some reason since the higher settings are more demanding the game is probably offloading stuff from ram making it play better than on lower settings. I get bad hitching while things loads, frames drops but it evens out eventually, this hitching/fps drops seems to not resolve itself with lava though

Go into the nVidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > D2R.exe and check the Vertical Sync setting. I suspect yours might have somehow been set to Adaptive Synce (Half Refresh Rate). You probably want to set this to Use 3D Application Setting and use the in-game vSync toggle. If that results in 30 FPS. turn vSync off in D2R and enable it in either the On or Fast setting inside the nVidia control panel.

I don’t know of any display that uses a 30 Hz refresh rate. What display do you have?

Could be throttling your cpu or gpu due to heat. Under clocking may solve that issue.

Makes no sense to me. More demanding games like new world or elden ring dont have any problems like with this game. And like i said i can run the game at the lowest settings and the problem will still happen.

Edit: Underclocked cpu. Runs about the same, lava still drops fps massively.

Does anyone know whats wrong with lava?

In device settings it’s listed as "Generic Monitor (LU28R55)
It’s a Samsung
Type No. U28R550UQ
Model Code. LU28R55UQNXZA
Model. U28R550UQN
Never checked into this before, but, doing so now, say its using a windows driver “monitor.sys”. - Generic PnP Monitor.

And, it’s set at 60Hz… 30Hz and 29.97Hz are options.

Guessing I should go look for a proper driver?

Update;
Downloaded the Samsung “Launch monitor Driver installer” app thing, and, no changes, says most up to date drivers are installed.

Did you go into the nVidia control panel and set the D2R.exe settings the way I showed in my previous post? Just trying to go through the troubleshooting with you since I want everyone to be able to enjoy the game. :slight_smile:

Yes Sir. I did that.
Also;
set D2r.exe in task manager to high priority.
in graphics settings, I added D2r.exe and set it to high priority.
yesterday;
I tried Vsync set on in game, off in Nvida control panel;
and, Vsync set off in game, on in Nvida control panel;
both resulted in 30fps and crappy choppy/tearing play.

ETA;
Really appreciate your time and sharing your knowledge.
Thank you

That’s really odd, especially since your display is a 4k display. Inside D2R itself, what is your framerate cap set to? In most cases it’s best to just set that to zero so it turns off the framerate limiter and then activate vsync in the game or in the nVidia control panel.

While you try that I’ll keep looking for more information that might assist you since more and more users are getting powerful cards and having this problem would be detrimental to them too.

Right now I have it set at 102.
If I set it to zero, it tries to run the game at 250ish, and starts heating up (assuming, as the fans ramp up way loud)
102 keeps the fans quiet, and the game running smoothly.
I’ll try 0-cap. with Vsync on (in game) and see how it goes.
