No more immunities, but monsters with high resistances are super hard
Immunities are a bad global design
On top of this, a lot of Resistance type disparity could be solved with the Hell% mechanic
This mechanic makes the remaining monsters more rewarding yet harder the less of them are remaining in the game. They get a buff to no loot, dmg, xp, life, mlvl and Resistances including magic resistances
The Buffing monsters magic resistance in the mechanic would be a great equalizer
I understand those arguments that immunities may promote variety but as Slomo4shO says it just doesn’t work like that for top builds and game is dominated by them while weaker builds suffer more. It’s broken.
that is an unfair comparison. Glacial Spike freezes enemies for a gazilion seconds on top of dealing damage.
just comparing damage never works in D2. All spells are very different even within 1 class; and comparing different classes is even less fair, because those classes have different other nuances (like, you cannot compare glacial spike to freezing arrow, no matter how alike they look, cuz zon has way more stuff going for her other than just damage and freezing)
I said “almost”. I just did 10k nihlathak runs with her, and experimented a bit elsewhere. I just don’t enjoy her 1-button playstyle, I admit that is an effective build.
For lightning, the 7 mobs that keep their immunity with Infinity:
Dark Familiars, the bat demons in A4 City of the Damned.
Damned, Tainted Demons that only spawn in A4 City of the Damned.
Bone Scarabs, the Scarab Demons that spawn in the 3 other temples in A3: Forgotten Temple, Ruined Fane, & Disused Reliquary
Horror Skeletons, Skeletons that only spawn in Stony Tomb
Returned Lightning Mages, Skeleton mages found as occasional guests in Arreat Plateau or Frozen Tundra, have low HP
Horror Lightning Mages, Skeleton mages found as occasional guests in Worldstone Keep Level 3, have low HP
Pit Lords, Megademons that only spawn in Furnace of Pain or Chaos Tristram (UBERS)
Of these immunities, 6 appear outside of ubers and the only ones anyone will ever really encounter farming would be the Horror Lightning Mages on the off occurrence you walk Baal. Even then, the mages have low enough life to be 1 shot by merc.
On the Magic Immune spectrum, we have:
Wailing Beast, Wendigo that spawn in the 3 other temples in A3: Forgotten Temple, Ruined Fane, & Disused Reliquary
Plague Bearer, Zombies that only spawn in Lost City and Ancient Tunnels in A2
Unraveler, Greater Mummies that spawn in Tal Rasha’s Tombs and the Throne of Destruction. Can also make guest appearance in the Pit of Acheron.
Horadrim Ancient, Greater Mummies that spawn in the Kurast Sewers. Can also make guest appearance in the Worldstone Keep Level 2 and the Throne of Destruction.
+Guardian, Greater Mummies that spawn in the Claw Viper Temple (technically also in the Valley of Snakes). Can also make guest appearance in the Halls of Pain.
Pit Lords, Megademons that only spawn in Furnace of Pain or Chaos Tristram (UBERS). Technically immune to all damage except physical.
Every Physical Immunity can be broken with Amp Damage or Decrepify Curses. There is a reason why every physical build prefers merc or gear that procs these curses.
Lightning, Magic, and Physical immunities are the easiest to circumvent or completely ignore based on their scarce spawning or the ease of which the immunities are broken. This is the reason why S tier doesn’t include any Fire, Poison, or Cold builds.
All cold skills either chill or freeze, there are no closer comparisons.
Almost never played and you doing 10k runs aren’t even remotely similar statements. You not enjoying the playstyle is a moot point but this is a step in the right direction. Immunities don’t add anything, they only discourage certain builds.
I dont play them even with immunities so what is your point?
I always play pure lightning javazon or one element sorc. Only exception is one playthrough. But thats te case only if i play offline. But its not require anyway, its just more comfirtable.
“Stop whining about the horrible mechanic that is immunities and just deal with lessening your character by diluting your power in half by using a crappy hybrid build while Hammerdin can kill 99.99% of the monsters resistance free”
There are so many ways to have a challenging game without it being immunities
Wanna promote hybrid builds? Just add a mechanic that makes 2 hits of a same damage in row deal less damage
Orrrr. This may shock you too but plenty of mobs (bosses) are immune to 2 things which makes plenty of classes SOL too. Cray huh? shocked pickachu face … I know right? Who would have thought?
I am not agreeing with the OP because I don’t want to see any nerfs to this game, but to think people only play 1 damage build is funny. I am a Blizzard/FB sorc and come across plenty of bosses with cold/fire immunities.
Well runewords werent either or elite uniques for that matter. However saying that i would enjoy d2 without runewords would seem outlandish to just about anybody rn.
Bots have always plagued the game, blizzard didnt design them, arent a feature of the game and arent accepted by the community on a wide basis. Not that i care about them either way.
I like ber runes and i get them rarely so they should increase rune drops to suit my fancy.
The universal immunities in hell were introduced later after the exodus of the original development team from Blizzard North…
Both runewords and elite uniques were introduced with LOD. The runewords that basically made said elite uniques obsolete came the same time as the universal Hell immunities.
To be clear im not against ALL changes, just that this is a terrible idea that would make the game a cakewalk for all classes and do nothing to make it more interesting.
Idk why we are even discussing this as its obviously not going to happen anyway.
