Profanity Filter

I tried naming my Paladin “McHammerdin”, and it said it wasn’t allowed; “McHammer” did though, and so did “BiggusDickus”, as well as “WilliamBonner” (he was one of the presenters for the main news program in Brazil, suffice to say his name is often used in jokes lol).

so in a private game it should be fine? if you provide a profanity filter that is on by default then the user is making the choice to be exposed and you should be clear of any fault no?

Have you actually tried this? Because it doesn’t work for in game D2 resurrected. My profanity filter is checked OFF in bnet (as well as within all my other blizz games), but it has no effect on the in game filter of D2 resurrected.

No. That is not how it works for Blizzard. Just because you turn it off, does not mean people are allowed to break the rules. It is not permission to get colorful in public.

This person doesn’t have any pull here. Do not take anything they say into consideration.

Can you shut up now? No one is having your bs.

Your right. I don’t make the rules. I just explain how they work.

Up to you.

You seem to have issues. I can help you though.

Click my green avatar and bring up my Activity. At the top right is a drop down menu that should initially say “Normal”. From there go to “Ignore”.

It should resolve your issues with seeing posts you don’t like.

But you aren’t explaining anything. I’m not talking about wanting to be able to insult people in game by using racial slurs and hate speech. I’m talking about using adult language because I am an adult, as is everyone else who purchased this game. There is no option to turn OFF the adult language filter. There is no defending that. No where in the code of conduct does it say anything about that, nor does any other game this company has on the market have a permanent language filter.

You seem to do a fair bit of helping other players by explaining how things work yourself.

I have been very very clear MVPS are not mods. They are other players. In my case Tech and Customer Support (information desk) stuff mostly as well as basic game questions. I explain policy, just like you explain game questions and functions.

As for working at Blizzard. Lol. I am old, retired, own my own home and there is no way in heck I would move to CA. I like being able to do my thing on my time - and afford it. I have never applied and am unlikely to. I don’t want to go there.

I suspect with the forums being so busy, you have not read the many times I have agreed that the filter should be a toggle. I have even passed that on up the line to have looked into. I don’t defend that at all - and never have. It is annoying and gets in they way of normal chat esp with partial words.

However, it is still important you realize that D2R is not like D2 in that they DO record all our chat and can action us. Filter or no filter.

Not a fan of the filter. Put a toggle for adults plz. Also not sure why bastard is censored. I typed that after another game interrupt and found that word is a no no.
oh and if its frowned upon here than ban me from the forums. dont care

If it were banned here it would not allow you to post it, which is also hilarious for the game filter

I would love nothing more than to be able to play the damn game, but alas the incompetent team running the game can’t even fix that for thousands and thousands of us…

Love that movie :stuck_out_tongue:

But yeah some things that you could say are sXually oriented are fine, but the more normal names are sometimes appearantly very distasteful.

Forum Mod Edit: This post has been edited by a moderator due to masked language as it is in violation of the Code of Conduct - even if it is a movie reference.

Go talk to a wall no one here wants to hear about terms of service. We don’t want chat filters.

The lack of a toggle is mostly likely a bug or oversight and will probably get changed to be in line with other Blizzard games.

The Code of Conduct and reporting system applies to all Blizzard games though so you might as well know about it, esp now that there is an in-game reporting system.

I don’t want to hear about speed limits either, but that does not make them go away.

From playing Final Fantasy online all those past years I learned to behave anyways due to it being strict there. It’s not a terrible things to be honest.
