This topic died down post D2R launch. Pre-release Blizzard sent a survey asking if players wanted to replace FFA loot with ploot. In mid August 2021, the head of the diablo franchise tweeted about them discussing ploot. He said if it were ever introduced it would be optional and at game creation but reassured everyone that it would not be at D2R launch if ever.
After launch, the diablo franchise head said that they would continue to discuss once the game was settled down. That was last September I think. Their statements made it clear to me that the first ladder season would be without optional loot allocation system. Optional loot allocation system may never be introduced in D2R.
We really deserved one season of 1.14 ladder before 2.4 and 2.4 ladder.

That will not happen. Blizzard has said D2R is a live service game and the patch/ladder has been announced for this month (April 14 & 28)
