Its a single player game after all

I started an offline character since playing online is basically the same thing right now. Instead, in offline, I can at least scale the game. I set the game to p8 and cleared all the way through getting all the quests and way points along the way. It’s the same as what I had been doing online. The character ended up being level 44.5 when Baal died. Of the two online characters I got through Normal on HC recently, they both concluded Normal difficulty at around levels 33. The amount of clearing on all 3 characters was the same. The loot on the two that were online was less than 1/3 of what the online character found. The MF on all three characters was between 45 and 130 after Act 1. The clear time for all 3 classes was around 7 hours as all 3 playthroughs were on hardcore.

My p8 offline normal playthrough yielded:

Uniques:

  • Chance Guards

  • Goorfoot

  • Hellplague

  • Griswold’s Edge

  • Deathspade

  • Raven Claw

  • The Jade Tan Do

Sets:

  • Tancred’s Skull

  • Civerb’s Wards x2

  • Sander’s Taboo x2

  • Arctic Binding

  • Arctic Horn

  • Infernal Signal x2

  • Cathan’s Rule

  • Cathan’s Mesh

  • Isenhart’s Case x3

  • Isenhart’s Horns x2

  • Iratha’s Collar

  • Sigon’s Gage

  • Death’s Touch

Only did 2 countess runs including the one for the quest and she dropped me a Nef the first time and Eth the second time. These are the total runes for the run:

  • Sol x 1

  • Ort x 1

  • Ral x 5

  • Tal x 5

  • Ith x 1

  • Eth x 5

  • Nef x3

  • Tir x 6

  • Eld x 3

  • El x 1

They both have their attractors.

I like seeing objective views of something so static. The game is the game after all.

The online conflict is the people if you ask me. They have grown up with games where you can group up and breeze through.

It’s like when the Joker killed the Mayor of Gotham. It’s one guy and people lose their mind. Everyone else was just a statistic.

You take away ‘some’ connectivity with players and people lose their mind.

People today seem to have a compulsion to point at things and like a trained baboon say “like” … “dislike”.

So again I love to see at least some data. Some substance. Some thinking.

Maybe in the future the strength to stand alone if need be.

The online conflict is that there are no “online” games. There is no multiplayer for consoles. Period. The only way to find someone to play with is to hit up forums and share contact information.

What console are you on?

Until ladder starts, when and if it ever does.

If matchmaking doesn’t work now, what makes you think it will during Ladder? The PTR doesn’t even address PC matchmaking, Console is a distant concern for the developers.

The console ports are a cash grab. There isn’t even an active “Community Manager” that ever visits the Console forums. There are a whole 2 posts in this form, one in September and the other in October.

People are competitive on Ladders so it should generate more desire to group up.

There’s no reason to doubt an improvement for matchmaking is coming.

All ranting about that issue should go here.

Who needs a “Community Manager”?

Consoles definitely aren’t getting any matchmaking fixes (or any real attention) any time soon so if you want to play some offline its not a bad idea at all.

Right because the most pressing issue of the game which has now been released almost half a year still has no patch but it will magically arrive in another 4 to 6 months when the ladders actually arrive?

There won’t be anyone around by then. 45% of reviews are already 1 star on Xbox.

Face it, the options for Console is to play single player online or offline mode and this will remain in place for the next 4 to 6 months at least.

Your input is very important and helpful to the D2R community.

You must’ve just started playing online recently then, I see other players grinding bosses all the time. Don’t speak for the online community when you only play offline and make noob assumptions.

I think he’s referring more to PlayStation. There’s almost no way to match up. There aren’t any lobbies and you have to match your game parameters to exactly what someone else put. It’s ridiculous. PLaystation online is unplayable with anyone else unless you have a dedicated group and post in forums.

The people come to this forum to complain that they can’t find people.

Have yet to realise other complainers are people they can join…

 :hammer:

“Wobbies, trash, fix, Blizz Blizz!”

While I agree with the sentiment that it’s somewhat ridiculous to spend time complaining when that time could be spent searching the forums for players, it is not at all ridiculous to complain about the fact that you have to step away from the game to find other players to play the game with, when one of the most integral parts of the game were the built-in lobbies to find players. It has always been one of the most enticing facets of the game.

It’s a problem, and diminishing that to condescend to those who reiterate the problem is just as unhelpful.

I give space for complaint. Who knows, they might make a good point.

Panko you should be able to see my slow transition to match the copy and paste points being made.

This is helpful.

If these people start making better posts then I won’t feel the need to “jazz” it up.

People here need this.

No, I certainly see your point(s), and they’re often very valid. But sometimes there’s a tendency for it to read as condescension in the face of true criticism.

I find that the problem with the forums is that justified complaints tend to spiral into emotionally-driven doomposting. The real issues plaguing console multiplayer somehow evolve from “this is an extraordinarily unintuitive design that is not conducive to a palatable experience” straight to “MULTIPLAYER IS IMPOSSIBLE! IT DOESN’T EXIST! PLAYING WITH OTHERS IS AN UNATTAINABLE MYTH!!!”

Obviously there are plenty of solutions and workarounds. But, I guess some people rather feign the outrage than to approach the issue truly and logically and say, “yeah, I know there’s forums, but I’d rather not have to hop on my computer/phone and camp on the forums to find a party to play with when they could simply integrate lobbies as was the norm in the original game.”

I’ve got some advice for you too. Not everything you write has to be a thesis.

Modulate the message :joy:

I’ll stop writing theses when you stop being condescending. In which case, we may be at an impasse. LOL.

I am long-winded by nature. Blessing and a curse, I suppose.

I like offline. I think I tried online once in 2000 and was like meh no thanks. 22 years later…meh no thanks.
